Waxwing // a quick concept sketch.

I decided to draw up something quick so that I could get a feel for Waxwing's concept. I'm not sure how I feel about what I did for his tail or antlers, so I'd love some feedback/ideas!

also, I did this in about an hour, so forgive the quality, please! I was more focused on the actual idea, rather than the drawing itself. :3

I love both his tail and antlers! I love the way the tail feathers stick up everywhere, and I really like antlers...are those feathers too, or leaves?

Feathers! I noticed that they

Feathers! I noticed that they looked a lot like autumn leaves while I was filling them in, and that's why I'm kind of debating them.

I put the red and yellow in to relate back to the little bits of red and yellow on the bird, but I might take that out. In the long run, I'll probably just go with black and gold (and possibly an ivory or white) for those feathers. (:

I love your style! I really like the tail, too, but I'm not as fond of the antlers. c: That's just my opinion, though; I like them both a lot!

I did draw up a cedar waxwing concept that no one was interested in. Perhaps you would like it?

@Shadowfly - thank you! yeah, I'm not really feeling the antlers. I'm thinking of maybe filling out the feathers on one side. almost like a fan, but feathery! not sure how that would look though heh.

Go ahead and use it, and use it well. Of course you can make changes to it as you see fit. ^_^

@Lightthesky: thank you! I'm not entirely sure what to do for the antlers, but I might keep some sort of leaves on him. I mean, birds spend a lot of time in trees, right? ;D
