History:
The beast was there, watching them. "Them" was (such bad grammar) a family of deer, some of them gray, some of them grayish-brown, and some of them were a lighter gray. They were at a river, with the fawns' parents lying down a small distance away from the children, watching over them. There were five siblings, three boys and two girls. They were playing together, unbeknownst of the danger that was about to come over them. One fawn, though, was not playing. Their siblings were ignoring them, though they weren't always like that. The other fawns were very fickle about the ignored fawn playing with them. Sometimes the ignored fawn could be with them, other times they didn't let it in their games. The fawn was walking at a slow pace around its family, glancing every few seconds at its siblings playing. It was the runt of the group, and was a much lighter color than the rest of their family. It was the most noticeable, as the sun was beginning to set, and the trees casted shadows all over. It was especially noticeable to the beast that hidden in the shadow of a tree, watching its every move. The beast was a wolf, with its fur a dark-brown, almost black, that kept it almost perfectly hidden. The little fawn was starting to trail a bit away from the group distractedly, without really meaning to. The beast tensed and got into a pouncing pose, still hidden in the shadows, waiting for its chance to strike. The fawn trailed even further away, nearing where the wolf was unknowingly. An alarmed sound suddenly came from one of the deer in the group, and the wolf realized it had been seen. Quickly, the wolf pounced at the fawn before it could react, and the last thing the fawn saw before it closed its eyes in fear was the wolf's sharp fangs and golden menacing eyes. A moment passed. Then another. Eventually, the fawn opened its eyes and looked around suspiciously. He was in some sort of room full of white. He looked down at his legs. His fur on his legs almost blended in, but he could still see them. He looked around, wondering what happened, what was going on, what was he doing here, but most of all, he felt worried about his family. He tried walking around the white room, searching for a way to get out and back home. He was walking down a straight path for a few minutes, then got suddenly desperate and ran faster. He ran faster and faster, until he came to a sudden stop, and dropped down, his chest hurting. He didn't know why it was hurting, he didn't really understand emotions. He could feel something wet drip down his face, wondering where it was coming from, but he didn't pay much attention to it as the pain in his chest was increasing. He couldn't take it any more, and cried out in a sorrowful yell. He lied down on his side and hugged his legs to his chest and belly, curling up into a ball. He didn't want to be here anymore. He just wanted to go back, to where he belonged. Eventually, the room started to fill with sounds. At first, it was only sounds that came from the lost fawn, then there were the sounds of birds chirping, and then noises he didn't understand, which were the voices of other creatures, talking amongst themselves. He could hear the distant sound of running water, which was a familiar sound to him. He jumped up from his spot on the ground and listened in anticipation. His tail wagged. Would he finally be going home? Though he didn't know the meaning of the emotion, he was very happy all of a sudden, and the pain in his chest went away. He started running, trying to get closer to the sounds, to where he expected home was. The sounds were getting louder and louder as he got farther away from where he was crying. A sudden bright flash of white light covered his vision, and he couldn't see himself anymore. The light began to get dimmer and dimmer, until eventually, it went away completely. He looked around him, expecting to find his parents, but instead found a beautiful forest filled with different animals, mostly deer, many flowers, and a pond. It wasn't what he was expecting, but he was staring at it all with wide eyes. If he knew anything about language, his reaction would have been, "Have I died and gone to heaven?"
