Edit;
Thank you so much for the interest guys! I'm going to put a little cap on the players now, because this is only for 4 to 6 players and though I could boost it to 8, that still means some people wont get to play this time and I feel awful about that.
Everyone will still have the opportunity to learn how to make their characters and fill in sheets and join the discord for questions though, its only going to be later I have to do the dreaded player cull.

Hello guys, a little interest check for you!
I'm currently working on setting up maps for my first ever d&d game where I'm the DM. I would like to practise on you guys using a very easy pre-written campaign and pre-made maps.
It is for 4 to 6 players, and everyone starts from level one. There is
no need to know anything about dungeons and dragons before I tell you to so dont worry if you've never played before or dont understand how it works. Once I get closer to being ready to let you play we'll make a discord or something for you to discuss how to make characters etc.
Nothing is as yet set in stone, but to join you would need.
One night a week (between 6pm and 11pm GMT) where you can spare an hour or two.
A working microphone and be willing to talk in a group.
A roll20 account (these are free!!!)
A discord account (also free!
)
IMAGINAAATION!!
I'll talk more rules about what is and isn't allowed and what i will do for inactive players and people wanting to join later on in a different post or an update to this one, this is just a general 'would you want to play d&d with me and my bf'.
UMMM YES? -over
YES?
-over enthusiastic track-
I'm not sure I can or would
But can non-players come and keep track of the adventure? I really would like to follow the story and all but without participating.
I hadn't considered that but

This is awesome thanks guys!
I'm going to edit the main post as well but for now I'm going to put a limit on the players, This is only intended to be 4 to 6 players and I could boost it but only by one or two extra players, but I'm definitely not going to be able to get everyone interested in the game at once, I'm only a newbie DM and my far more experienced DM boyfriend says its a bad idea.
This doesnt yet mean only the first 8 people are in, I'm going to let everyone in the discord and everyone make character sheets because that'd probably weed some unserious people out, and then if worst comes to worst we'll roll for slots.
As a census though, would you guys prefer a one shot campaign (over in 2 to 3 games) to get a feel for it, or a storyline campaign?

Wait a mINUTE. Are we
Perhaps we can have arc-like periods of 2-4 games that would function almost like chapters? As Jacklo says up there, at the end of those, people can join in again. Was that what you had in mind?
No? Everyone makes new
edit; you can make your tef char following 5e rules (e.g theyre not a deer theyre an elf ranger) if you want lmao im not your boss
And there will be chapters of sorts, but its when characters reach certain milestones, so say if you start in a town, and then go through a big field, then a cave, then reach another town, its the second town i'd give people the chance to leave/join, respec etc.

ahhhh ok I get ya yeah that
yeah that sounds nice, that could also work for cycling characters in and out, you could have a plot to follow and "episodes" within it that would facilitate new characters coming in or out in an easier fashion. Good idea C:
A oneshot within the story is
DnD 5e. Oof, I'm gonna be right in there learning a whole bunch of stuff, too (if I get through the cull). And yea, it sucks to have people sit out until next time, but as a beginning DM, it's for your overall sanity. A lot of players gets confusing really fast, so hopefully your bf will give you a hand if/when things get chaotic?
I am hyped for this. No joke.
.
ya just an afterthought I had
ya just an afterthought I had but yes that makes more sense @jackloThe town thing also works! I'm excited for this ^^ I've never played D&D before but I think this is a good opportunity to start.
