Finding a muse and other writing tips

Heya guys, I wanted to give some tips on writing that I feel work really well for me. Try these out if you want to write but have trouble getting started:

Finding a Muse

Ancient Greek writers and poets often would invoke a muse to aid them in their writing. Modern muses are easy to find:

Music is an amazing tool in writing. Personally much of my writing is inspired by music, and I liked all different kinds so there is no wrong kind to choose. If you need something melodic to keep your mind on the writing, try bands like Enigma, Sky Sailing (Owl City), and Thriving Ivory. For those who like to write darker stories, bands such as Halestorm, Nightwish, and Within Temptation are great bands for you. I also like post-grunge bands such as Nickelback, Breaking Benjamin, Live, and Shinedown, as they often have great lyrics in their songs that can spark ideas for stories. Try listening to the lyrics of your favorite songs, and see if anything comes to mind. You'll be surprised at what will trigger inspiration. Also try singing along to the songs you're familiar with, you might come up with a storyline from there. (Thanks to Mick Kreiger for the additions)

If you prefer to be more adventurous with music, and you have a spare $10 to spend, try going to your local Wal-Mart/Target and choose a CD at random.

A Sunday drive through Rifle Camp park [32 photos]

Well, technically my friend burnt-truth was driving. And it was her camera that the photos were taken with. Laughing out loud But I took most of them. I seemed to have a more steady hand. (And she's supposed to be the photographer! XP)
Gotta warn you: there are some blurry photos that might mess with your eyes if you stare too long. It's due to the camera setting that was used for most. The flash was off, which usually means you should use a tripod. As there was none, this was tricky. The few that appear more washed out had a different setting meant for sunlight.
But enjoy! =]

it's a blog! of sketches!

Getting some pain off my chest.

I'm taking Nezzaine advice and talking out how I feel about my dad.

My dad start complaining about his head hurt. We didn't think of it as anything until one day we can home to the house crashed rummaged threw. (Y'know knocked over tables, broken glasses, and tipped over chairs) At first we thought we where robbed, but come to find out my dad had had a seizure and had somehow or another walked from the living room back to his room.

After that we took him to the doctors to see if he was ok only to find out he had swelling on the brain and need the fluid drained. So we got that done only to find out under the fluid where two brain tumors. So we tried to get those removed but there we're already to far gone. They became cancerous tumor.

So after a looong time of meds, chemotherapy, and curse word they told me and my family that there was a slim change he would make it out of this. We took great care of him and made sure to keep him positive with prayer and family, but he already knew the truth.... So he closed up inside and became cold to the family. Only up til about 3 months ago did he open up again. It's really scary when you dad calls you out of you room and tell you to take care of your mother. I played it cocky and ask were did he think he was going, but he didn't laugh so I knew he was serious...

After all this I kinda wanna beat a few nurses faces in that didn't even come to his call when he was in the hospital. Some of the doctor we're really cold and didn't care about another guy dieing in the hospital. I wanna to push the down some stairs for the way they acted. I've never hated anyone so much until these nurses and doctors blew people off like "hurry up and die your taking up space".

I was glad to get him home. He could do a better job than anyone at that hospital taking care of him.

It gotten so bad he can't walk, he won't eat, and he barely speak. It get frustrating.

Things that really tick me off - #1 Global warming denial / polution

Do people really care so little for the planet that they want to DENY when science clearly points to the fact that we're seriously effecting the ENTIRE planet with our trash/emissions? ):<

Or maybe it's that -certain- crazy -groups- think that the world as we know it is going to come to an end soon anyways, so it doesn't matter how we treat the planet.

There are dozens of companies, that dump TOXIC WASTE into our waters, lakes, streams, oceans, etc, just because it's cheaper to pay the fines for dumping the waste, than it is to pay for it to be treated. How can someone be SO selfish? Sure, they save a little money now, but later, when there's no more clean, useable water to drink, then what?

BP is a good example of the 'save money now' mentality. They saved some money by not replacing a few parts on their oil rig, and suuuure it was nice and dandy to save a few bucks then. BUT, they are so short sighted. . . And look what happened. Since they didn't replace the parts, the whole freakin' rig blew sky high, and now they owe billions of dollars in damages. So in the long run? They lost money, good job.

BAH.

A few months ago, I requested everyone help me gather screenshots, and the responses from the community has been incredible.

Although late, I finally finished putting together the video they were for. A gift from us to Dag.

Thanks everyone. <3
