Illegitimi non carborundum [In Between Story]

Note: This story picks up right where Ab uno disce omnes [Furfur Diary 10] ends. This follows the side story of Furfur's journey and takes place between the last story and the one to come.

Off Days...Poem

I see them there
behind the tree
sitting in gangs
here there is only me

I read it here
comments that hurt
Indifference to death
I wonder should I convert?

I approach them there
A polite bow, a cautious glance
They reply with lowered horns and angry roars
I suppose I never had a chance

I scan bios here
kills fawns hunts does hates devout
Is rude and mean in style?
I choose instead to opt out

I try to be friendly there
I wish to befriend the horde
Instead I watch from distance
I consider myself lucky to be ignored

I post my thoughts here
because I see the pain in my company's words
For all the friendship of the forest
Most are never accepted to the herds

I'm sure you're nice people
Yet in forest you slash and hack
Would it kill to meet a new friend
Welcome another to the pack...?

So I stay here alone
and you stay with your mate
Snapping at everyone who passes
It's alright I'm patient I'll wait.

Everyone has that off day
Maybe every day is bad for you?
I'll stay away and wait my turn
Some day you'll pull through

Said the Deaf girl to the blind
Your actions are rather rude
I can't ask to change your ways
least my words become misconstrue

So you play your deer
and I'll play mine
Niceness gets you few friends
Perhaps a new tag line?

Inspired by conversations with other forest friends.

The Wirewood Tales ~ Quad's Shortstory Collection

I've noticed I've been writing a lot of short stories lately, so I wanted to make a little topic to link them all together. Hope you enjoy, and I plan to do more when I think of more ideas.

If you'd like me to (and if I have enough people ask for it), I could add a little synopsis of what each story is about.

Banished (Shortstory)

This story is inspired by the song The Islander by Nightwish (which is just a beautiful song anyway + the music video is pretty cool)

'The Overture' (drabbly drabbly goodness~)

Title: The Overture
Author: Zebbie
Characters: Jester, Random Fireflies
Warnings: Terribly lame humour and mini hearts ♥
Rating: PG
Extra Note: This was written in about 20 minutes, just as a way to practice writing Jester in the third-person. This began as something I was going to make into a serious kind of thing, but then gradually descended into the realms of random-and then Lottie made me post it Laughing out loud I really didn't have much inspiration, and the part involving Mittens in all his wonderfully lame glory only came about because I saw something about a cat called Mittens on TV and couldn't stop thinking about the name *giggles* And thus, the randomness in this drabble was born~! Generally something I didn't put all that much effort into, just a little practice exercise seeing as I haven't written in a very long time, or written as Jester at all :3 Alright fine, this was just an excuse to write the word Mittens. MITTEEEENNNSSSS ♥
Summary: Life is his play, and he's merely the star of his show~

Clickeh to experience the magic of mittens :3

Horse

Because I'm a horse lovin' fool.

The horse tamed the human
To look upon them with glee
For when the horse looks upon man
He says 'you will never be free'.

The horse flies across fields,
You watch with nothing but love
The horse asks, so nicely
'Aren't I just a gift from above?'
Indeed you are good horse
We will never know such wonder
For humankind, in all its glory
Will always, always blunder

The horse does not fall or die
With a scream or indignant sound
Even as the fire flickers
His brave heart continues to pound
We humans will never know this strength
We damned ourselves long ago
But within their eyes is something we lack
A fire, a will, and a soul.

So we salute you, brave horses
As only humans will
By using you, abusing you,
Make you work through the long hours

When the time comes, the horse will reign
The angels will come down and sing
We look into the light, we finally see
The angels, who fly without wings
