[=9]WELP here's the revisited Rutref, because I really wasn't happy with the original. His face was off and the antlers were poorly drawn and the masks, too...It needed updating, man. And look - now he has a reference for his hair!
Yes, he does have Buddy Holly glasses and Aviators. Why not? It's incredibly humanised, but quite frankly Rut's a very human guy. The glasses have extra-long legs to keep them hooked on even when his ears are moving and stuff okay |8 And hey, if one pair breaks, he can get another pair in the human world.
I'm pretty sure he got someone to make those masks for him, in the human world, and brought them to the forest.
His magpie mask is a plague doctor's mask, which he wanted because you don't even know how much Rut loves Assassin's Creed. He spends all day playing it online, I swear to God.
However, he does own a DS. He has played Animal Crossing. And his realdeer mask is based on Tomn Nool, copyright to Silent because she's hilarious and makes stupid typos.
His Long Mask's expression changes from time to time, but it has nothing to do with his mood. He just redraws the mouth and possibly adds eyebrows. He can actually see through the eyeholes; they're tinted glass. It's early video-game-y because Rut's a giant nerd.
Why does he have Buddy Holly glasses? Because he's a hipster Buddy Holly fan.
Why does he have aviators? Because he's cool.
