the first new leaf

Healing Fang walked to the cave and looked at the top of the mountion of the stars. From his spot on the side of the cave enterance he could see the blue and white peeks of the mountion. The mountion of the stars was always covered in snow and ice, most defently this time of year. Looking down at the ground he saw the valley and pond that was below the cave. the pond was covered in a thinning layer of ice, though the sound of running water was louder today than the other day. skeleten weeds, with a pure blanket of snow on them, grew at the ponds sides. Healing Fang stepped forward and down the side of the cave mouth to the ponds side. as he got close he sat his front paws on the ice and pushed.
the ice started to bulge and break under his weight. He watched as a four paw wide hole broke out and clear water started to bleed out of it. Healing Fang put his head to the water and started to drink the cold liquid.

Noon Break watched Healing Fang from her perch on the side of the enternce. She sat on a small patch of green, were the snow was starting to melt. threwout the years Her energy was starting to fade. Looking up at the sky with her golden eyes she asked, "Will i survive to see the new pups across the path to Gold leaf home?" The wind only sighed and blew the gray clouds across the sky. Noon Break was old, very old, she was around 16 years old and she knew that Healing Fang was around 10 years old for a wolf. Luner pack members lived many more years than other pack because of the blessing of the Beta. The Beta was the first and oldest of all the wolves in the word. The Betas too gave blessing to a few other favored pack, one other was the Knight pack. Noon Break put her head on her silver paws and watched as the brown fured elder, Healing Fang, looked up and over at some trees.

Shadow Step and Fire Paw watched as the elder of Luner pack looked at a patch of trees opposite of them. "The older elder is a fool," said Fire Paw as he looked at his friend. "Fire Paw, you know wait Shadow Fang would say if he heard that," Shadow Step said as he looked back at Fire Paw. Fire Paw only looked at the old wolf that walked around as if the years did not touch him and the weather never dulled his brown fur. "Yes i know Shadow, but look at him, he is so old, " Fire Paw said and pointed with his nose to the Walking wolf. "O, and our elder is not like him and his, umm, youth?'' came a voice from behind them. Looking around the two spotted Blue moon siting on the ground over them with a stick in her teeth, being bitten away.



Blue Moon sat on the ground with a stick. as she bit into the stick a thick bitter tasting liquid oozed out onto her tounge. looking at Fire Paw and Shadow Step, she watched there angery eyes and lowered tails. "You know, guys we one day will be like the elders of the pack umm, unless claw of fang ends that," she said smartly and leting the last words flow out of her jaw. "Unless we run into those two legs elder Shadow Fang talked about," said Shadow Step as he looked back at the old brown wolf. Blue Moon twiched her ears, shed forgoten about two legs. For years Shadow Fang stressed the importance of staying away from them and there distant kin that walked with them. "You know, Blue Moon, that the betraying kin are pup killers, right?" Said Fire Paw as he stepped forward.

Noon Break watched the sky as the fiery fire rose above the earth. "Hey Noon Break," said a voice. Looking over she saw Dusk walk over and sit down, Dusk was One of Healing Fang's young pups, one of the only survivers of the last few winters, so his fur was brown. Dusk had more than likely got his short fur from his mother Rain Paw, though.

Dusk looked out at the snowy ground as he sat with Noon Break. the ground was slowly starting to lose all the white to new light green blades of grass. Too bad his brothers and sisters were dead from the two legs and the betraying kin, the dogs as they called themselves. four winters ago the humans attacked them when he was just a pup of one year old. at the time the Clans had come together to move to there spring homes across the ice feilds and then past the two leg dens and then to the forest of green leaves. Mostly, as he had learned, the Clans traveled in twos. somtimes they travled, like the four winters ago they traveled with Knight Clan. Dusk looked down at his father Healing Fang, Knight Clan too lost all but two of there pups to the blood thristy kin the dog. as Dusk remembered correctly the only two liveing pups that were a few months older than him, that was the survivers were Shadow Step and Fire Paw. Shadow Step was the pup of Shadow Fang and Fire Paw was the pup of Fire Claw. But Fire Claw had died when he was trying to save one of Shadow Fang's pups, Two Dogs had cornered him and there two leg friends had stabbed him with there pointy sticks.

Noon Break watched the young pup for a moment as he was deep in thought. Standing up she streched and walked to the interence of the cave and walked in. the smell of damp forge snatched her senses as she looked to a far corner were Rain Paw sat with her new yearling pups. Spring claws was curled up close to his mother as his albino sister Winter Claw was asleep near Dark Night on the other side of Rain Paw. Dark Night's Fur was pure black compared with most wolf's furs. As Noon Break got close Rain Paw got up and walked over to her.

Knight Clan sight

Silver moon looked at the ice water into the face of Matron WindSong. Silver moon twiched her ear. "So let me get this straight, Knight Clan and LuNer Clan are to travil together again in seven moons and on that last moon we are to meet under the stars to reseave the blessing of the Beta, i thought we all had the blessing of the Beta already?" Silver moon said as she looked over at were Shadow Fang was sleeping. "No, this blessing is for Rain Paws new pups; Spring claws, Winter Claw, and Dark Night, They are now yearlings and need the blessing for this trip to there spring home," Matron WindSong said to Silver Moon threw the Ice water. This was true, the new pups of Luner Clan would need the blessing in order to live a longer life and a safer one. Silver moon sat down on the ground but she never took her eyes off the Matron. Matron WindSong was part of the Beta, the Oldest of wolves, and was the teller of storys. Silver Moon was a elder of Knight Clan and a seer of forsight. She dipt her head to The Matron and said, "I will tell Knight Clan the news, are you going to tell Luner Clan yourself, Matron?" "Yes Silver Moon bother yourself not on there behalf, I will tell Noon Break or Healing Fang to tell there pack the news, may your pack follow the stars well," Matron WindSong said as she vanished from the water. Silver moon watched the water clear and stood up and walked closer. As she touched her head to the water she could see her younger sister Blue moon talking to Shadow step and Fire Paw.

Blue moon watched as Shadow step took the lead in the search for prey. Shadow step's dark grey fur moved perfictly with the shadows around him and the trees. Wile on the other hand Fire Paw's fur was a orange color and did not help in the hunt as well as Blue Moon's grey fur or Shadow step's dark grey fur. . .

Healing Fang Walked to a patch of trees that were opposite of the half frozen stream and layed down on the ground in the sun light that got betten the trees. There was a time when he, as a pup, had jumped over the stream all day long and never got tired. He tried to not show his slowing muscles and his slowing mind to the other pack members. Even though his body looked young and strong he was slowing in the inside. He closed his eyes and listened to the sound of the stream as it started to melt. "Healing Fang," came a she-wolf's voice from out of no were. But Healing Fang was not dumb and just sayed, "Yes Matron WindSong of Beta Clan" The reply came to Healing Fang as a sound of a wolf drinking water. Healing Fang looked over at the albino wolf drinking at the water a few steps away. Matron WindSong stopped as she noticed him looking and walked over to were he sat on the ground and sat down next to him. "I come with news, Luner and Knight Clans will travel in seven moons to meet under the stars to reseave the blessing of the Beta for the three new pups," The Matron said to him.

Matron WindSong watched as Healing Fang twitched his ears and blinked. "Are the pups that old allready?" He asked as he layed his head on the ground. "Yes, and The clans most travel soon wile the Two legs are not moving about outside of there dens. Lest something like the prevence incounter was not enough of a loss for the Clans," WindSong said as she looked at Healing Fangs lieing body. As the Matron remembered the dead yearlings that the two legs got because of the lack of there blessing and the only few surviving pups. Dust, Fire Paw, and Shadow step if she remembered right. "Very well Matron I will tell the Pack the news," he said as he got up and walked back to the den area. Matron WindSong stood up and streched, she walked to the water and lowered here head. And like that she vanished into the water as only a reflection and returned to here pack and home.

Healing Fang watched as the Matron Left. He saw her as it desolved into the water and left. She was right about one thing, the pups need that blessing more than most wolves needed it. Healing Fang padded across the ground to the den and walked in. Now to tell the others.

Awiti of Fire Hill

Awiti looked out of the window at a two leg as it walked past, she was standing on her hind legs because she was not tall enough yet to see threw the window. She loved to look at the passing of the two legs as they went on with there lifes. "Awiti!" came a voice from behind her. Awiti looked around at the two leg, most words she could not understand from these dark skinned two legs. She knew though that the two leg that called her name was the female child Ebele, and it sounded like she was running! Awiti let her paws fall to the ground as she turned to look at Ebele as she entered the room.

"Hurry up Ebele! We need to get going or we will not see the British riders! Ebele hurry up!" Farai shouted to Ebele. Ebele payed no heed to Farai as she ran into the house to get Awiti from the other room. As she got threw the door she picked up Awiti's leash and cloth Caller that the smith made for her. Awiti was standing on her back legs and mewing and growling eagerly as Ebele got in the room. "Come on Awiti we need to go. come on girl," Ebele said as she put the caller on her. Just as she had got the last loop on Awiti sprung for the door pulling Ebele behind.

Awiti raced for the door knowing something was going to happen. Whenever Ebele put the round object on her something was going to happen. A walk was the most common, walks happened more than normal here lately. Mostly Ebele and Farai took her out to walk just to get away from the Adult two legs. As Awiti remembered the Adult two legs she felt anger rise in her gut. the Older two legs beat Both Farai and Ebele and sometimes Awiti herself would get beatings. Awiti did not know way but the words that most commonly came after the beatings or before were, "Démoni!". She did not know what the word was but she knew what would happen to them. Awiti say the young two legs as brother and sister because she never had a family.

Ebele and Awiti got outside and ran to Farai. As the two got close Farai turned and started to run for the villege. Farai could see the shapes of the riders as they got closer to the villege. They were twenty dots in the distance from what he saw. He listened to the sound of Awiti as she ran ahead of them. Awiti would be a very stronge and fast in a few months when she gets older.

But non of them knew that within a week they would be fleeing for there lives.
