Please click the title to see the whole story. "Ever since I've heard that soft, quiet beating of hoofs on the flowery ground, my life has changed. Cheneniah has tought me everything. He showed me the forest, and its beauty. He taught me to make my dreams and imagination real. He named me Ialu, the egyptian name meaning 'field of dreams.' He adopted me as his brother... but he treats me more like a son."
Ialu was speaking to a group of butterflies fluttering around him, and landing on his purple flower-covered black antlers. Ialu feels content and relaxed when he lays in his flower beds, chatting with the butterflies. They are the only things that he can talk to. His brother does not talk to him much, but can show and teach him so many things without one word. Ialu rolled on his back into the flowers. He looked up at the sky. "I don't remember if I ever told you this." Ialu spoke as he closes his eyes." Cheneniah said that he found me when I was a fawn. But he found me with no eyes. I don't remember... but I guess that is why my eyes are so small. He said they grew as I grew. I knew something was wrong... but I thought that was what all deers were like." Ialu rolled over to his side, with legs stretched out. "I do remember starting to see blury things when I was 10. After that, I could see things..." Ialu turned his playful smile upsidown. The butterflies fluttered down onto the floweres in front of him. "Since my eyes are so small... I can't look at bright things. Cheneniah said not to go to other deer. I don't know why. I never see him with other deer though. But I have to stay in the shade for the rest of my life. Bright things hurt my eyes, and I could be blind again." A butterfly landed on his nose. Butterflies have always comforted Ialu. They are always trying to make him smile again, but Ialu usually never smiles. He also doesn't get angry... but he gets depressed.
"I havn't seen Cheneniah for a while though... I don't know where he's gone off to. Maybe he doesn't like me any more... maybe he wants me to take care of myself now." Ialu got up and walked. He walked all through the forest wearing a depressed face. A tear fell down from his eye, over his hand-shaped mask. One butterfly was sitting on one of the floweres on his antler. It crawled down to sit on his head. "Go back to your family, little butterfly. They love you more than anyone has ever loved me." The butterfly did not move. Instead it crawled down onto Ialu's nose and opened it's beautifuly colored wings right in front of Ialu's eyes. Ialu stopped. He did not understand at first... but then he let his imagination go. There was a design on the front wings that looked kind of like 2 fawns standing together. He used his imagination to relate those fawns to Ialu and Cheneniah (even though Cheneniah wasn't a fawn when he adopted him). The bottom of the butterflies' wings were shaped like traingles, which pointed to the butterflies' body. Ialu did not see anything on the body. The butterflies' intenas moved upwards. So Ialu followed and moved his head upwards. There was a tiny ray of light shining on the butterfly exactly fitting its shape. Suddenly the wings glowed with colores and a curtain shape appeared on the butterflies' body. "Is it... a name of someone?" Ialu whispered to himself. It looked like a cirlcle with 2 rectangular shapes inside. Suddenly the butterfly flew away, leaving Ialu backing off from the light. Ialu walked back to a flowerbed, thinking. Then... he slept.
