Current Updates
I thought I had died. For what seemed like a very long time, my mind was separate from my body; fighting a force that was both unseen and untouched. Yet, I could see and touch it. I never could while I was awake. Darkness surrounded me on all sides. I felt like I was one with the room. When a foreign entity came into the room, I could feel it try to take me over. This happened over and over again for a very long time. Eventually, I could feel myself slipping, loosing control of my power to hold back the foreign energy. I lost the battle. It took me over completely.
***
When I woke up, all I was able to see was smeared color. A kind of faded, old array of colors that seemed to have melted over my eyes from a while ago. I could move parts of my body all perfectly; it was just the struggle of not being able to see anything that made me cautious. I could have just woken up from a deep sleep and it could be years in the future for all I know. Made it to the lake, sniffed the water, and took a long, cool drink from it, gulping and sloshing the water around in my mouth. I paused for a moment, then dipped my entire head in the water. Still feels like the water I used to know. The colors that had melted over my eyes began to wash off in the water. Raising my head up from the water again, my vision came back to normal. Looking around at the interesting weather, I realized that my vision was actually better than it used to be. It wasn't the future, no. But the gods had made it twilight. Then, finally remembering who I was, I froze. Slowly, I bent down to peer at my reflection in the water. The mask...it wasn't there. My fur had the patterns of the mask tattooed into it, but the mask...wasn't there anymore. This didn't surprise me as much as it made me afraid. Where was the mask if it wasn't around me when I woke up? The melted colors over my eyes, the patterns from the mask on my fur...the mask must have sunken right into my skin. Ever since I had woken up from the sleep, kept noticing something different about myself. My eyes were highly sensitive to different shades of light and shades of colors, and could analyze something about a particular object from a long distance away. I could predict what a squirrel or a bat would do before it did it. My sense of smell was amazing me; I was able to smell the sweat of a deer standing all the way at the other end of the forest.
I could hear the wind rustling the leaves of a specific tree all the way from the birch forest. The only sense that didn't seem to have changed was my touch.

Previous Updates
A deep sadness had echoed through me in the past week or so that seemed to come with its own anger. Every morning I woke up and touched the mask cemented onto my face. More squishy and flesh-like every day. I felt like screaming, but I couldn't. It had melted over my mouth. Thank the gods it hadn't reached my nose yet. Everywhere I went, people would gawk at me; fawns would shriek and run away. Sometimes I'd trot down to the pond and look at the ugly deer staring back at me. At least it hadn't covered my eyes. But I wish it had. I didn't want to be alive. Who was I? Was I just a figment of their imagination? I began to doubt myself; not recently, but long ago, when I thought that the mask I was given had meant something good. Yet it had just deteriorated from that moment. Loner. Outcast. Monster. Nobody called me Spartak. I was starving, for both food and attention. It was when I noticed Lady in the distance that I raced after her. Not so much as for playing, or even attention that I had wanted so badly. Just for food. Her help. I was afraid that if I tried cutting the mask away from my mouth, that it would hurt me and not the mask. I could feel it, as if it were a part of my body now. What started out as a cry for help ended up with Lady in Red racing off after a tease. Unlike all of the other times where I wouldn't have a care in the world and play around with her, I followed her, trying to scream. It was so muffled, my scream was barely above a whisper. I was dying for a pinecone or a even a bite of grass. A desert was inside of my mouth. A squishy, melted smile hid the thirsty frown. It mocked anyone who came near to get a closer look. One last look at myself in the water told me that I was loosing weight. My shoulder bones had begun to jut out of my back like mountains, and my spine followed like an archipelago. Jevir had once talked to me about energy. That when it is used up, it doesn't just disappear. She explained that everything goes somewhere. I have reason to believe that the energy from the mask had gone into my body. And that Jevir had gone away. Where to, I don't know. March 10, 2014

Spartak in human form: x

Biography
Born in a mushroom ring next to a frog. Adopted by Jevir. Has a tendency to overreact and get paranoid often, especially around naked deer. He can't stay still for very long and is easily distracted. But it really catches his attention if you run around with him. Spartak had gotten the full sectretary bird pelt cast on him by a very old deer, wearing a skull mask, space beluga pelt, and those strange, big red antlers. His pictogram was just a jumble of other symbols on top of each other. Spartak thought of him as his father, because he never had one, but he hasen't seen that deer again. Later, as Spartak had become a young adult, a mysterious deer had cast The Deer of the Dead mask on him, altering his appearance dramatically. He searches for this deer to thank them, and he often wonders why a deer would be willing to give such a great mask to...a deer like him? Then something went wrong one day that changed the young buck's life forever...
I'd been drinking from the pond for about a minute when I looked up, and there in front of my face was another deer....who looked exactly like me. This freaked me out a bit and I scooted back so I could have room to stare at him. My size, just a little skinnier, my same mask...and the same colorings I have on my pelt...except--where was the color?! It was supposed to have color in it. The deer stared at me with an eternally smiling expression. Was that how I looked? Growing anxious, I peered down into the pond to see my reflection. I was...glowing? I watched my reflection start to blacken, and sink into the pond, creating a small whirlpool. Everything in the pond drained into it. Frozen to my spot at the edge of the water, I lifted my head, only to see the deer was gone. Things seemed to be slightly different from then on. Like an out-of-body experience, as if I was watching a movie play before my eyes, but did not feel a part of it. I ran without stopping for hours on end, to every part of the forest. The feeling like I wasn't quite there....that I was slipping away, to somewhere unknown, was riddled on my mind. I skidded to a stop in front of an innocent fawn when I thought I heard Beorn's roar. I lifted my head, and roared back. The fawn called to me as well, but I didn't seem to hear him at all, and brushed past the little guy. I wasn't myself. I wasn't myself at all now. I was...something else. Oseaan. This time the sound hit my ears like a wave of cool air. Slowing down, but not stopping, my ears went to the front of my head and yearned to hear the sound again. Kio. Cassiopeia. I picked up my speed, and almost ran past them. It was controlling me. I knew it....it had to be something ----- the mask! Going against the strong force willing me to run away, I struggled to turn myself around and face them. My friends. How could I walk away from my friends?? It wasn't me, though. It wasn't me. I made my stiff leg bow to everyone, including one that I did not know. It was all I could do to keep myself from exploding at them. Rage. Hatred. What in the forest was happening to me?! Out of the corner of my eye, I could see that Kio had started dancing. A chain reaction; everyone started dancing after her. I forced myself to dance. This coldness, a cold so deep and penetrating, seeped its way in under my fur...sinking to my hind legs and spreading into my chest. Sit down, it said. So I sat, without thinking. From behind my mask, I saw that everyone stopped and stared at me. Worried looks. I was worried, too. I had to get it off...before it ate me alive. It was filling me up, filling a void inside of me. But not with good feelings, no... The feelings of darkness, deep fear, loneliness, depression, and the most twisted and angry feeling I'd ever felt in my life took me over on the spot. Whatever was inside of the mask....was finding its way into my soul. I had to get it off. Now. My head snapped into action, and I swung my neck around, pounding and scraping my face into the dirt. I slammed the side of the mask into the ground, but it wouldn't budge. Automatically, like a robot, I rose from my spot, leaped over to a tree, and whacked my head into it as hard as I could.
I was only hurting myself. Warm liquid trickled down my neck, leaking from the side of my head. On the outside, I looked to others that I was hurt, and confused. On the inside, a battle was being fought with an unknown force...which was now dragging me down to the graveyard. It wanted to go back. I cryed out, trying with my hooves to pry it off by the edges. It was no use, and I felt my body traveling to the dark place, with very little of myself still left. It wanted to be there.....and now so did I. There was no stopping this force, only giving in, for it was far too powerful to let a mere cervidae control where it was going to go. The force that had taken over my body seemed to be happier here, and moved me like a a puppet. I sat in places and did things that a deer shouldn't normally do, but I couldn't feel any pain. I could just see it on my body, and stare in horror at my broken legs. What did this spirit want from me.....my body? A temporary body to dwell in. This force was not using it wisely, though. Likes to prance around with anybody, anywhere, play with friends and fawns,

and enjoys sitting in sun patches in the forest. Will sometimes play as a fawn.

Low emotional health, gets shy, or sad easily.

In some cases can get angry if provoked long enough. Will protect friends from mean bucks, naked

deer (which he finds to be some of a threat from his past experiences), and mean does. He may

look a bit creepy to some, but under his mask is a kind, yet sensitive buck.

If he is interested in meeting your deer, but is feeling shy, he will seem to linger nearby, or stand off

to a distance and observe.

ok, I'll start

A lone fawn stood on a grassy hill. His big, silvery eyes scanned the horizon line, trying to determine where he was. Not too far off, he noticed an odd-looking stag, standing by himself.
The greyish fawn decided to approach the figure out of curiosity and concern. As soon as he got close enough, the words pierced through the stag's mind like a knife: (but wasn't painful, just interrupted his thought process) "Do not be afraid; the voice you are hearing belongs to me, Hovis.
I have come to know that most, if not all, of the beings who reside here communicate verbally. I, however, do so by means of telepathy. I am only seeking someone to communicate with, seeing as you are by yourself, too."

DeerUniverse's picture

Quietly resting alone, and

Quietly resting alone, and about to doze off, the young buck known as Spartak jumped out of his skin when he heard the voice a fawn, loud but shy, start to speak---seemingly from inside of his mind. Spartak could not think on his own until the voice in his head stopped speaking to him. Then, his thoughts flooded back to him all at once. How did he know this voice belonged to him? It sounded young, and had a twinge of an accent on it. And why did this voice sound so clear to him, crystal clear as it cut through his thoughts, blocking them from interfering from his own voice until it ended? Is he sure he didn't just hear a fawn talk to him from nearby? Instinctively, Spartak looked around for the owner of the voice. Behind him, he saw a small fawn, with the little stubs of irish elk antlers protruding from behind his ears. The little one was all alone as well, he'd probably just came up to him out of curiosity. As always when he met someone new, Spartak sniffed the lone fawn to get his scent, and bowed to him. "Hmm..were you the one who spoke to me? Out loud...or....in my head??" It sounded silly, but if this small fawn was talking to him through his mind, then he needed him to say more. Whether it be out loud, or not. Hovis, did he say he was? hmm..where have I heard that before?
"Common sense is not so common." -Voltaire

The fawn blinked once, twice.

The fawn blinked once, twice. Then narrowed his eyes a little. It seemed as if he was directing his focus to the stag's eyes more than anywhere else. "Yes, sir. It was me. I spoke to you with my mind." Noticing the masked deer's uneasiness, Hovis added, "And my apologies if I startled you." In return, Hovis sniffed around Spartak's chest, seeing as he was only that tall. He began to explain to the stag why he was not able to communicate like all the other deer in a matter-of-fact tone, but soon ended up telling his feelings about the topic.
"...so that is why I am hesitant to begin a conversation with others. I do not want to frighten anyone, but if I choose not to speak first, I am afraid most will think I am shy or cannot speak at all." And this having been said, he lowered himself to the ground, carefully folding his legs. Sitting beside the seemingly friendly Spartak, he sweetly leaned his small, fuzzy fawn noggin on the white fur of his neck.

xD thank you Fly! Laughing out loud

Spartak, seeming a little confused about this concept of telepathic talking, accepted the fawn nonetheless; and together they sat side by side, enjoying one another's company, not being alone anymore. And then he wanted to try something. If it really worked for the both of them, and not just for this little one, then he would try it. ...Can you hear me...Hovis?? He thought this in his mind, but directed it at Hovis, sitting beside him.

Looking up from the cozy spot

Looking up from the cozy spot on Spartak's shoulder, Hovis' large, silver eyes seemed to peer into his very soul. "Yes, I can hear you.", he replied with a grin and slight tone of amusement. "I must have forgotten to mention that I am able to read your thoughts as well." But so long as we are both looking into the other's eyes will there be a connection." It seemed to Hovis as if the two had been good friends for a long time, although they had just met. Settling closer to Spartak's side, the young elk curled up comfortably and was soon asleep.

The rare bred young adult male sat contently with the little buck, but still pondered about this. "He chose me! Of all the deer out there...he chose me...", the buck thought to himself. Suddenly Spartak blinked a couple of times, in realization that Hovis could read his thoughts. He looked down, and the fawn was looking up at him. Spartak smiled. How could he forget this guy? Hovis's little grin, his huge silvery eyes, and his short soft fur that smelled of mercury. "You're going to stay with Spartak from now on, ok?"Spartak murmured to the half-asleep little fawn.
"Common sense is not so common." -Voltaire

Has Spartak seen a ghost or

Has Spartak seen a ghost or something?
Jennie told them to leave where they belong, go for the light, not stay on earth any longer. If that was not a ghost, then she totally misunderstood, omg xD

ok! I'd love to continue this

ok! I'd love to continue this c:

The young grey elk looked slowly up at Spartak, breaking into a warm, knowing facial expression in response to the rare breed's smile. "Yes, friend. I chose you. You may find me to be a fierce protector from evil forces....later in your life.", Hovis explained wearily. Struggling to take a breath, he added, "This - this being mortal - does it take life out of one day by day?", he paused for a big yawn, "....making one feel tired?" And that was all he remembered saying before the blackness overtook his vision.

btw, Mercury does not have a scent
DeerUniverse's picture

oops, my bad! didn't know

oops, my bad! didn't know that, srry.

This made Spartak think for a moment. He looked down at the young elk and said, "Well yes, in a way. You get more tired the farther on you go, until you just...um, well, stop living." But the fawn was already fast asleep. What a strange question for a fawn to ask. He seems to know a lot more than he looks. Also strange for a fawn to say that he'd be protecting a grown stag, but Spartak went along with it, and eventually fell asleep next to him. His mask was radiating negative energy while he slept; waiting to control him when he awoke.
"Common sense is not so common." -Voltaire

it's okay, don't say srry

it's okay, don't say srry

The young fawn dreamt about a powerful force tearing it's way into his new friend's face, making it's journey into the unsuspecting stag's soul. In the dream, Spartak's mask glowed blood red. Hovis was close by his side, staring at the mask. He could not tell if Spartak turned his own head, or if it was the mask controlling his movements, but he turned to glance down at him. A bad feeling came over the fawn, followed by a shiver running the length of his small body. The mask seemed to speak to him in a raspy, demon-like voice: "Stay away, or you too will be destroyed." The stag disintegrated with the chill wind, but the mask lingered for another few seconds before disappearing. Hovis blinked and coughed, suddenly collapsing to the cold, dirt ground. His head fell ungracefully at the foot of a gravestone, making him realize where he was. His eyes frantically searched around for someone to shoot a telepathic SOS to, but woke up with a start, breathing hard and shivering.
