Somewhere Beautiful {Aeros. I'm quite proud of this, for now.}

Aeros awoke in a field and knew something had changed. There were no such places like these in the Forest – the canopy blocked the sun’s rays there, dappling the ground in light. Here, the glow was only offset by the clouds – there were no trees as far as he could see. Hills rolled gently upwards around him, and small piles of rocks dotted the landscape. The large stag lifted his head – something which further startled him, as in the Forest, his massive antlers often forced him to keep his neck low. A gentle breeze ruffled through his fur, and he looked around the landscape slowly, wondering what on earth he was witnessing.
It was then that he caught site of two bodies making their way down one of the gentle slopes. They were much larger than he, but still, the grass almost reached their ankles, swaying rhythmically. He recognized them immediately. Ah. So, this is the place they call home. Perhaps. With only minor difficulty, Aeros hoisted himself to his feet and carefully made his way towards the pair of deer. Their faces were almost expressionless, with calm eyes and the slightest of smiles. The old stag bowed his head automatically upon reaching them. “What is this place?”
Our home. In reality, so much more, but it is where we reside. The female, her coat a mix of scarlet and cherry, lifted her head slightly to feel the breeze as it once again passed through. How do you feel?
He paused, looking down at the ground, realizing the gravity of the change. “I…I suppose I feel…younger. My bones don’t ache. I’ve plenty of energy. Is this-?“
This is no dream, nor is it real. It just is. You are here for a purpose. For the first time, he noticed something – white flowers were growing with great rapidity around their hooves, and around his legs, newly-sprung poppies were whipping back and forth. Where they had stepped away from, stems and stalks were receding. Aeros was breathless, looking back at his Gods in wonder. The golden male flicked his ears calmly. Ever since your creation, you have revered us, child. You’ve stood quietly by, telling us how our land has changed, telling others what has happened in days gone by. Never once have you harmed a living soul.
Too taken aback to realize what he was saying, the large creature cut in, “But Pan-“
No. Their voice was suddenly harsh. The being inside of that creature is not living, nor ever has been. She is something that wormed her way into our world, not something you ever had to care for. Aeros stilled, and the two saw it, and softened their tone. Never once have you strayed from the path our children were intended to take. Others have done so just for the enjoyment. Not you. You are our Storyteller, and now your body is fading, regardless of your mind’s brightness. We have brought you here to rest, for now.
He lowered his eyes, looking to the landscape. “I understand. Will I see you here?”
From time to time. Just as the Forest does, this place has limits, though it may not appear so. However, you will not be alone. Ephra has visited this place before, though she did not realize. And she will do so again, occasionally. Liëka, the Reverend, and Quad, as well. And then there are those who came here to rest eternally. As they said it, they moved aside, and Aeros was able to see the hill behind them.
And then came the doe. Her fur was light, speckled with dark patches, and where the others had a human face, hers was modeled after a gentle white-tail. And of course he recognized her. It had been an age and then some, but he recognized those gentle eyes that had left him countless years ago. All speech was robbed of the stag, and Aeros watched as she descended down the hill almost as if she were floating, and made her way to stand beside the Gods. She did not speak, merely watched him with earthy brown eyes. How…oh, my dear…
When you are ready, you can return to our world, and face what it has become. We know you will do what you can so that they may remember us. For now, gather your strength, and be with the ones time has forgotten. When he looked back to where the Gods had been, they were gone, white flower petals swirling away from the spot where they had stood. When Aeros’ gaze returned to her, she was on the hilltop, flicking her tail and calling out in an airy, melodic voice. “Come on! Fenqua and Walter and Run are waiting. Oh, and we have a new arrival – her name is Poltergeist. She’s a delight, you’ll like to meet her.” She bounded over the hill, followed in a moment by the stag – his face shining with a smile as bright as the sun.

Not really, Eph, I just made it up on the spot. :B As far as this goes, she's light tan with darker patches, probably with some other markings mixed in. Creative license ahoy! And thanks for the art in advance, I know it's gonna be awesome. <333
