........................History...........................................
In the human world, Essos was but a mere Barn Owl, young and still unable to fly. She lived day to day with a happy heart and a full belly, surrounded by her mother and siblings. One unfortunate day brought a disastrous storm with it, bringing much damage to the little nest that the owls called home. An infant Essos was blown from her safe haven, toppling rather harshly to the hard ground below. It was a miracle that the youth escaped with only minor injuries, but what followed wouldn't leave her in such good shape.
After the heavy rains and howling winds died down, all of the animals emerged from their bunkers and explored the newly-drenched land, and that included the predators. A feral feline managed to spot the misplaced owl, taking advantage of the meal opportunity and pouncing atop her small body. The stray cat clawed and snapped at the little one, its teeth sinking into one wing, and then the other. The brute slung its head until the fragile limbs were violently removed from their source, the action bringing a squall of pain out of Essos' parted beak. Before any more damage could be inflicted, the mother of the infant swooped down from the trees with opened talons, grabbing the feline's scruff in her hold and using every ounce of strength to pull its attention away from her baby. The creature yowled, turning on its attacker and throwing out a swipe, only to miss completely. A squabble emerged between the two, but was quickly ended after a clawing to the face sent the cat fleeing the scene. The young child was then quickly swaddled in the presence of her mother, who quickly withdrew at the sight of her daughter's missing wings. She sobbed inwardly for her offspring, knowing that there wasn't much time left. She carefully picked up the bundle and took flight, veering and swerving through the woodland until she found the plant life that she had come for; the Tree of Awakening. Legend has it that the large form has the abilities to assist those who come to it with a sincere heart, helping them with whatever problem is at hand. The mother put her little one down in a hollowed hole within the tree, a single tear falling on the frail baby's barely-moving chest. "Great Tree of Awakening, please take my daughter and let her start anew in a different body, for you see, she has very little time left here in this one. Let her live, great one, and give her happiness." The she-owl sat, looking at her infant's body, until she saw a final breath make the tiny form rise and fall, taking that as her cue to depart.
As the soul passed out of one body, it was then placed within another; though not in the world of her former life, Essos once again lived, this time amongst the deer of the Endless Forest. That is where her story begins.
........................Physical............................................
Essos only possesses one trait from her owl ancestry, and that is the entirety of her cranium. Her ears are that of a deer, as is everything else. Feathers blend into a fur-like appearance along the majority of her body, which carries general Barn Owl markings. Her eyes are a warm auburn while her beak is tough and sharp, providing her with necessary defense is she were ever to be involved in a fight.
