Self-determination

The Deer of Endless Forest are unique. Even does carry their own, wonderfull set of antlers. It is a weird turn of mythological evolution. Thet need these antlers to carry their Signs, their Names. Anyhow, it is hard to differ does from male deer, because we are not ordinary deer, we are spirits. To be honest, I think we have no gender. The Deer himself cho?ses what to be. Many of us think that we are reborn spirits of some other creatures, maybe even humans, and the fact that once we were divided into two genders probably influences on our behavior now.
I know that such almost scientific thoughts are not likely to any normal deer. Instead I could have been jogging through birch trees and scratch my back against the pines... But self-determination is kind of important. When you are trying to fit in a whole new system you are not used to, such things may really bother you. When important decisions that are usually made by nature are on your shoulders it is bad enough, but when you are the one who will face the consequences of such decisions later it is even scary. Being a spirit sure comes in handy.
Anyway I get this feeling, that a long time ago I was a female of some kind. I think I'll be comfortable with the thought that at least one thing will stay the same...

I think we have

I think we have genders...but you are right... Scientific thoughts are unusual, though myself, I have sunken into many philosophies when I am traveling through the Forest..I can't help it...
Here's a thought:

Fawns have a special magic of their own. Their symbol is the brightest, unsullied by age, and it is held aloft by that magic, not by antlers... Any ordinary magic cast on them wears off quickly, for it cannot compete with their natural powers. They lose most of those when they age into a full-grown deer, but they keep the shining halo above them, and remain able to cast magic.

I think that their magic is

I think that their magic is srtonger to hold the Sign because they don't have antlers yet. Ther magic doesn't last long because it is all focused on the sign. After fawns mature, antlers are now in charge of the Sign and the Deer have now more power and cast more efficient spells.)
