Name: Jizo Origin: Japanese Patron Saint of Children Age: Unknown Picto: Here Mood: Calm Thoughts: The snow is so pretty! Happenings: ... Gender: M&F (Jizo doesn't plan on taking any mates)
Information:
Jizo is a persona of Seshamsut, meaning she will share the same picto, underneath the set, Seshamsut is underneath, still knowing all.
Jizo is here to comfort lonely fawns, and to make them laugh. In Japanese lore, Jizo will not rest until every soul of every child is in heaven. If a child dies before its parents, it is said it cannot cross the river to the otherworld, and are forced to pile rocks upon the river's bank until someone redeems them. Jizo carrys the children across the river and into heaven, hiding them in his robe/sleeves when evil spirits come around.
Statues of this Saint of Children can be seen along footpaths and hiking trails in Japan and in China, and lends comfort to parents mourning the death of a child. Jizo is also the protector of Women and Travellers.
Appearance:
Jizo wears to poppy antlers. Poppies in myth, are the symbol of death and passion. The poppies are held above the ground and out of reach of the fawns. Meaning Jizo will let no child reside in hell. Jizo has also passion for children.
Another meaning of this is a bit more morbid. The poppies symbolize death-- and they rest upon her antlers, meaning death will come upon any of those who harm a child.
Jizo wears the monarch pelt. In myth the monarch/butterfly symbolizes immortality, meaning once the children she saves enter heaven, they will have immortality, and will therefore never die.
Jizo wears the long mask. Written in ink on this mask are protective prayers. She also makes ink from poppies and allows any fawn she meets to draw/write on her mask if they are having a difficult time.
She is tall and slender, her fur is short and sleek.
Personality:
Jizo is very calm and motherly. There is a "double-tone" "echoey" quality to her voice as well. This makes it hard to distinguish Jizo's gender as well. Never using her mother tone to any fawn.
She enjoys the comfort of does, and the help when she has more than one fawn around her! Her voice is deep and calm, never raising her voice even in the most dire of circumstance. She enjoys playing, talking and being there when an adult isn't for a child.
Extra notes:
Jizo is a stag and a doe. When prompted to protect a fawn her voice is more distinguishable to be male, yet when speaking to a fawn her voice becomes clearly that of a female.
I think my fawn has met her today, thank you for being with him/her, we were feeling quite lonely.
Also, I think Mozart was helping getting her set earlier?
Ookani: Thank you so much! Yes, I love the "Okami" (PS2) soundtrack! It seemed to fit Jizo quite well. Ah, yes! I love symbolizim! She seemed to need it in her character anyway. <3
Aww! Poor Zelig! <3
Tera: Hehe, thanks a ton! I'm trying to cover a lot of different cultures with her character, and I don't have to make 50 new pictos to do it either! HAH! Yes, she would enjoy seeing Hook I'm sure.
Dag: Wow! Thanks so much, she knows a lot about Dag and admires him. Thanks!! <3 We need more fawn-caring characters around.
Unplugged: Ah! Thank was you? Goodness, Jizo really admired that strong-spirited little fawn very much! Your fawn acted very much like an apprentice! <3 Jizo will always be there for them!
Sithrim: Ah! It was! Thank you for finding me, it would've been difficult for me to locate little ZZ! <3
This is such a sweet
I love the symbolism behind her very appearance. If Zelig was a fawn again, he'd very much appreciate having someone like Jizo around!

ZZ is sometimes hard for Jizo to understand, and can't figure out when he wants her to leave, or to follow!
