I kept thinking about this while coloring ;u;





There's an intentional reason for this not looking super-duper smooth and stuff!

I've noticed and have been bothered by Western artists' constant striving for accurate artistic depictions of their subject. For example, I have a large book of African fairytales that includes indigenous art, and often when I read this around others I'll hear the art being made fun of because it's not an exact replica of the animal, person, or plant the artist was looking at.
(I'm not saying that ALL Western artists want their art to be literally what they're looking at/envisioning, it's just that I've noticed this as a generality)

I'm also majorly anal-retentive (aka a perfectionist) whenever I draw, paint, etc. It's so bad that I'll be at work and constantly swearing because nothing looks how I envisioned it.
So, more or less, this was a cathartic experiment. I didn't hyper-focus on the mistakes I made and instead accepted them.


TL;DR this was made intentionally "sloppy" looking.
