It is amazing how things in the heart can change how things seem to the eyes. At one time, many years before, actually, the young snowy doe felt comfort and warmth in this place; this modest thicket where she had her first awakening, met her father, and was raised sheltered and loved. It was a small haven for her at that time. This place brought nothing but smiles.
Alas, good things do not last forever, and Flora felt she should have realized it sooner or later; that she would one day feel woe whenever she opened her eyes to see the twisted fingers of the thicket in which she had spent most of her starving days rolling around inside, as if she had been eaten alive by a monster and could do nothing but wiggle in its belly until digested into nothing.
Flora's eyes wandered around, examining the icy branches that was her corrupted home. She sighed softly to herself; the first sound she felt she could make for the while, and soon let her eyes rest on the brightness that was leaking into the forest structure from the opening. It had been so long since she was outside. Had the world beyond this darkness changed at all? Her strange curiosity was further aroused when the sound of a bird's delightful song reached her ears, which perked in curiosity.
Finally, she decided to act upon it, and shifted onto her knees. She had become so frail in the days of hunger she had inflicted on herself, and her legs were so shaky the moment she attempted to stand, she felt as if she had aged backwards into an awkward newborn fawn. Nevertheless, she still had knowledge on such things, and eventually made it onto her weakly twigs that had at one time been a pear of strong yet elegant legs. She limped outside and was bitter-sweetly greeted by the warm sun of afternoon. Its brightness should have felt warm against her thin fur, though Flora could only feel the coldness of the inside of her.
Funny, she did not use to feel cold from her own frost, yet many days among her own blanket had left cold scars inside and out. For a brief moment, the young snow queen could do nothing but gaze about her surroundings, making check of everything that had changed, which was not a lot besides the small flowers that were starting to sprout. here and there in the small clearing.
Suddenly, the doe's legs began to move forward. They led her into the Forest; the world she was so familiar in, yet felt so lost as she took her steps carefully to refrain from falling over. She looked upward, somewhat hoping to spot the strange black crow that had been offering her visits every so often. The world did not feel the way it once did, and she found suspicion in every little movement or sound the world had to offer.
Finally, she found herself shaking herself as a new scent filled her nostrils. She turned, realizing she was not alone in the area. Another deer was somewhere close by. But where? Strangely enough, Flora was debating on whether or not anyone was actually there. Possibly, she had lost her sense of the Forest, and her mind was playing tricks on her. Despite all of this, Flora still had the curious itchy feeling that she got whenever something was added to the setting, which she could not shake away.
"Is...s-someone there?" asked the snow queen.
It was a lovely winter’s day and the forest was as beautiful as ever. Small icicles were decorating the tree branches, glistening in the morning sun. Aurea was half asleep, lying on a tiny patch that wasn’t completely covered in the cold snow.
And yes, even though the winter was indeed beautiful, she couldn’t stop longing for spring. It truly was the season of warmth and love, a new beginning.
A small shiver spread from her spine and throughout her warm body. Her eyes fluttered open and senses made it clear that she wasn’t alone here any longer.
She heard a voice calling out in the distance, barely there, like a ghost. Slowly picking herself up from her soft patch, she started to quietly wander off towards the direction of the voice. Feeling slightly frightened of the yet unknown creature, the tried to be as discreet and gentle as possible as she continued deeper into the forest. Whatever or whom it was, it made her feel odd, her heartbeat was uneven and her long legs suddenly felt strangely weary.
As she passed by a small nearly frozen pond, her eyes gazed around the forest and noticed the shape of another deer. Possibly the body of the voice she heard a little while ago. She observed the doe from a short distance, hiding behind a tree in fear. Strangers did often make her feel slightly nervous, but something about the purple hued doe felt sort of familiar. Moving a bit away from the tree, she gained courage to talk to her.
"H-hi." The words came out a bit shakily but still softly as she approached her.
Flora was gently surprised by a sudden sweet, gentle voice that reached her ears. it reminded her of honey in spring, and immediately attracted her full attention. She weakly gazed around until finally spotting a brightly colored figure close by. Her heart skipped a beat at the beauty of the doe. Flora nearly envied the appearance of the figure; golden and beautiful and seemingly as bright as the sun. She gazed down upon herself, though the reason appearance had suddenly come to mind was a mystery to Flora, herself.
Her body was frail and her bones were outlined from under her skin; a frightening sight indeed. She looked as if she was dying while standing.
"Hello..." she greeted in reply, taking a somewhat bashful step back.
Aurea stopped as she noticed that the doe slightly stepping back, possibly in retreat. Her eyes wandered upon her. She looked very ill and frail, as if she hadn't been eating for several weeks at least. It made her feel sad yet couldn't help but wonder, What had happened? Where did she come from? Questions swirled around in her head, but it would indeed be incredibly rude to ask such things, she needed to be careful around strangers, even though this one looked like a kind and very beautiful creature, her physical condition made Aurea slightly terrified.
"Sorry.. Hi, I'm Aurea." She backed away a little, trying not to interfere with her personal space and smiled faintly.
"Very nice to meet you, Flora." Aurea smiled and bowed her head slightly as a welcoming gesture.
"Are you well..?" She asked hesitantly, not sure if it would be appropriate to ask or not, but she wanted to see if she could do anything to help her, even if just a little.
( By the way, I was thinking a bit of Aurea's biography and I was wondering if you still think we could make them sisters? I'm so sorry if it's rude of me asking, I really don't want to interfere with Flora's storyline or mess up things but I thought the idea was really cute <3 )
Well...Var's mate, Vinter did go to mate with other does due to his lust for females growing out of control during Var's pregnancy [since he had not known of mating until after he and Var discovered the Forest and became TEF deer]
Maybe Aurea can be the offspring of Vinter and one of the does he mated with. Then again, that would not really explain her springy appearance...XD I dunno I am still thinking. Maybe Var had given birth to Aurea somewhere else after birthing Flora (and was surprised by it, but ended up either leaving this new second fawn or unlike Flora, decided to raise her)
Yes I've read it :3 The twin theory seems kind of interesting and more likely I think, but idk if Var would decide to raise her or not, I mean if she did, then maybe because of the fact that Aurea didn't remind her of Vinter by appearance. And if she decided to leave her, it also seems quite likely. What do you think would be most likely? :s <3
Well seeing as she would possibly be overrun by guilt if she kept Aurea and abandon Flora, maybe she ended up abandoning Aurea too and like Flora, another deer found her and raised her? XD
Yeah XD And I don't want Flora anymore corrupt from negative feelings than she is, now!
If we did the other one, Flora would most likely become the jealous "evi" sister who tries to seek out revenge and/or attempt to harm Aurea at any chance she may get.
Also wondering if I should make Flora's tail horse-like like Aurea...or idk XD Maybe I should make it so Var had the horse tail and Vinter had the curly tail, which would mean Flora could have the curly tail just with longer hairs?
Alright since Aurea would kind of be a representation of her mum, I think it is fair that she also has a long tail! And maybe Flora and Aurea could know each other because they had play-dates with each other in their dreams when they were lonely fawns? owo
Oooh that sounds so cool wow O u O ( Great, now I have Once upon a dream from Sleeping Beauty stuck inside my head aw XD ) But that would be really epic! :3

this makes me want to draw them together again aw XD but I'm a lazy butt 3
I have loads of drawings that are only half-finished... oupsie XD
LOL at least you have the choice to draw something XD /shot
Omg It's like, they had this alternate childhood in their nightly dreams where they met each other and played a lot, and then maybe the dreams slowed to a stop as they matured and became more down-to-earth as you would say. or maybe the dreams had started again since Flora's depression and then Flora sets out on a journey to find whatever she has been dreaming about (since she has been so restless) and then maybe she meets Aurea lol idk.
And it is okay! A good artist does not have to finish all of the works. It is really good to have unfinished things anyway XD it's like kind of a breath of fresh air, you know?
Yes that sounds so incredible ( yet quite sad ) <3 Makes me think of lucid dreaming, you know? I had loads of lucid dreams when I was a child but they kind of went away as I grew up ;__; It would be quite accurate. And yes, they should probably connect again through dreaming or get some kind of message at least to say, and then remember their dreams from their childhood and become curioussssss
Yes it really does! I'll finish them when I feel like it instead, it feels easier that way ^^
