The sun beamed brightly down upon the forest as a brightly colored doe weaved her way among the grassy patches. She paused, stopping to flick the grime collected beneath her hooves. In the next moment, she was moving again, trotting with a skip in her step as she made her way across the forest.
She supposed that it didn`t matter much if she didn`t know her way around. Getting lost was a natural part of traveling- most definitely. She had learned from experience. And besides, she was quite certain that she would know if she`s wandered out of the forest.
Still it would be nice to start getting to know this place. Wasn`t there a pond back not far from here? The doe flicked her ears, faintly hearing the croaking harmony of frogs. She supposed she`d go there for a bit.
Besides, it looked as if their were other deer nearby. She might as well say hello; it couldn`t hurt, could it?
Among the deer gathered by the pond was a little fawn. This fawn wasn't the usual deer fawn, for her face was that of a human, pale in complexion and freckles littering her cheeks. But that was not the most shocking detail of the curious fawns appearance perhaps, but rather the crown of peacock feathers growing from her head and hanging down over her shoulders.
Such feathers were currently being cleaned in the pond water, holding her breath and sticking her head under the surface and giving her head a shake. It was her way of keeping them clean, perhaps not the best way but it did it's job.
Brown fur darkened in spots by the water, the fawn made her way out of the water and shook herself off, approaching a nearby weeping willow tree and pawing at the roots for something. Soon she leaned down and picked up a small doll and put it on her back. She rubbed herself on the tree then went to walk off until she glanced over at a doe nearby. She looked quite colorful. Always the friendly type, the small fawn wandered over to her with a smile on her face.
"Hi." She said, bending her forelegs in such a way to appeared to be curtsying. "Name Tea, who you?" Her speech was a bit broken, but she either didn't seem to notice or care to change it.
The doe glanced over as she heard a soft voice nearby. Looking down, she saw a fawn just a bit smaller than her.
"Hello there! Tea is a lovely name." The doe commented. "You need not be bothered with my name- just call me Wayfarer." She spoke brightly.
Craning her neck, the doe looked over at the nearby pond. "I hope I wasn`t disturbing you. I just got here, you see. I`m just trying to find my way around the place. I must seem quite a bit daft." She laughed.
The small fawn tilted her head at the name. She didn't quite understand it was not the does true name, and did not seem to be bothered by the strangeness of it either.
"Way...fair.." Perhaps it was a little bit bothersome for her. Ears flicked back and settled against her head sheepishly, looking over the doe. "Call you Way?" Way seemed easier to say, and maybe even cuter to Tea.
"Oh!" Ears suddenly perked and hazel eyes went to the pond, shaking her head gently. Some beads of water still lingered on her feathers, causing some heightened iridescence. "Not bother. Just drink and get clean." Smiling again, she twisted back to look at the doe.
"New here? Just woke up?" Naturally the fawn was referring to her own entry in the forest. Those eyes looked over to the willow from earlier. "Woke up over there. Under tree. My tree friend." Tuft of a tail twitched gleefully. "Can show forest. Know forest well. Lots magic too!"
Wayfarer laughed. "Way-far-er. But you can most certainly call me whatever you may like. It doesn`t quite matter to me."
The doe watched as the little fawn looked at the pond. "Ah, I see! I suppose this would be an ideal place for that."
The doe shook her head at the curious fawn. "Oh, no. I did not wake up here. I came from the Far Lands- or so I like to call them. Places far, far, beyond here! I was traveling just like any other day, you see, and I stumbled upon this nice little place! I suppose I`ll be staying for a while."
"Oh, did you now?" The doe remarked, interested. This place really was odd... was it possible that deer had awoken here, without any memory at all? Unless it was how they were "born?" "Hm. You woke up alone? With no parents?"
Wayfarer`s ears perked with interest at the fawns last comment. "Magic, you say? Come to think of it, I have seen things some might take to be... quite unusuall. Especially those masks! I really would like to find one that tickles my fancy."
"Way...far...er." The fawn repeated, running her tongue over the name. It was strange, but had quite an interesting ring to it. "Way-far-er." Again with the repetition, but it seemed she understood.
It seemed they were both curious about different things. The child had heard about 'other forests'. Perhaps these 'Far Lands' Wayfarer spoke of were similar. She was not perplexed at the notion the doe had simply wandered here. It seemed there were many ways deer and other creatures came to be.
"Born sometimes magic. Sometimes wander. Sometimes born normal." She nodded her head, looking around her. "Woke up under tree. Alone. No parents." Strangely enough, Tea did not seem upset. "But got parents. Mama Nadya and Papa Leo." That same smile spread across her face. "Love them much. Give me doll." She turned herself to show the braided blond haired doll wearing a pink dress sitting on her back. "Magic all over. Just need get it."
Trotting off towards a nearby pinetree, she looked up the length of the trunk. "Rub push. Get pinecone. Eat. Make other change antlers!" She giggled. "Or feathers."
Hehehehe, I see you all in forest right now. See the awkward Long Masked mini on the side? XD
-
Wayfarer nodded, grinning as the fawn attempted to say her 'name.'
"Really? That is quite interesting. I've been to many places and seen a lot of things, but not such as that." She tilited her head. This Nayda and Leo the little fawn was talking about were probably her adopted parents, perhaps? "Ah, how nice of them! That little doll of yours is quite cute."
The small doe followed the fawn over to a nearby pinetree. Her ears perked with interest as she heard the fawn explain. "Really? Quite simple, then. Is that how you got your feathers?"
OOC:
Sorry for the delay. Packing and moving stuff around... yargghh!!! >.<
The spell is just my interpretation of how it is done, it's by no means exactly how ^^;;; Just wanna say that now hehe
Eyes looked up the tree again, before shaking her head. "Woke up with feathers." She shook her head to show them off. "But can get changed something else." Tea moved next to the tree and began rubbing against it. Soon enough, a pinecone fell from the foliage above. Trotting up to it, she bent over and took a bite. "Taste good too." She giggled and looked at the doe. "Then...you..." She blinked. How did she do it? "Just do it." She closed her eyes and thought about it. That little thought started as a flicker of light before Wayfarer's eyes. The more that thought grew, so did the light until it was bright and engulfing. As soon as it came it was gone, just like that.
And Way was thus spelled. (Up to you what antler she got though )
"See easy!" The little fawn grinned and bounced around. "Can show more!"
Wayfarer nodded. "Ah." A deer with feathers? Hmm. Seemed a bit odd, but she`d learnt over time that nothing was impossible. She watched as the fawn ate a pinecone from the tree. Hmm... perhaps that had something to do with it? Likely...
Before she would say much else, she was blinded by a bright light. Surprised, the doe took a step back. Soon the light faded- but she now felt a weight on her head.
Glancing up, the doe could see that she now sprouted a pair of curved antlers with what looked like feathers protruding from them. She stared at them in awe.
"...That`s simply marvelous!" Wayfarer exclaimed. "And it sure does explain all those dandy little antlers around here." She briefly wondered what would happen if she tried to bring her own retractable antlers out. It probably wouldn`t end well, she decided.
"That truly is amazing, Tea. One question, though... they do come off, right?"
