Stirring awake from her spot beneath a bare-branched Oak tree, queer, red eyes blinking away the sleep that had formed during her unconscious state, the youthful doe took in the vacant environs around her with her slowly-adjusting oculars; night had fallen, a blanket of darkness stretching its way across the land. The only source of light was produced from a countless expanse of luminous stars, as well as a fine cast of illumination from a rather plump moon that sat high in the sky. Nevé preferred to slumber during the daylight hours, seeing as her albinism handicapped her sight when the sun was out; during the evening and nighttime, though, she became more active and wasn't limited to the shaded protection that the forest provided.

Bringing herself to her cloven feet with a small 'humph, the white hind took a moment to stretch her stiff muscles before wandering away from her snoozing location. Her hooves carried her aimlessly, as she didn't have a particular area she intended on visiting. A left, right, and half-circle later, she found herself standing before a moonlit collection of titanic boulders. The gray rocks were turned silver in the rays, and Nevé couldn't help but admire the spectacle for a few moments. She brought herself out of the awe-induced trance, at least long enough to encourage her legs to move again, this time bunching her physique and springing nimbly atop the first of the over-sized stones. Deciding that she would spend some time in this particular spot, the petite deer settled down and brought her frontal limbs beneath her, tucking them under her chest while her hind quarters lounged on their haunches.

The vampire moved silently

The vampire moved silently through the dimly lit nighttime forest. He was hunting and looking for "evil" ones that could be deemed prey. But, a random passerby would not think he was hunting; he stood tall and moved with precise steps. It looked like he was just simply taking a stroll through the dark forest. So far, he had not caught sight of any prey. It seemed this time he might have to eat in the human world, which was fine with him.

He silent strolling brought him to The Playground, the stones looking grand in the lovely moonlight. But something white caught his eye; a doe. Her aura seemed pure enough to him, which made him happy because she was another good soul in this forest. His black, scaly neck shimmered its iridescent blues and greens as he moved towards the giant boulders.

From her location on the

From her location on the rocks, Nevé caught a hint of movement out of the corner of her eyes which, in turn, resulted in her directing her finely-chiseled cranium in the source's direction. A glimmer of emerald and aqua emanated from a unique stag's physique, despite his body being an overall darker hue. Though the albino doe was usually a tad hesitant about being around unfamiliar folk, something about this being's approach gave her the sense she wasn't in danger - but, for precautions, she was a bit on edge, wary even.

"Oh, hello," she chimed softly in her soprano-like voice, a warm tone in her words. She certainly wouldn't turn down the opportunity to have company, but caution was always taken during first encounters with this alabaster hind.

He bowed politely, his neck

He bowed politely, his neck shimmering madly as he did so. "Good evening. Are you enjoying the Moon?" he rumbled, his voice thick and heavy with a Slavic accent from ancient's past. He made sure he kept his distance, not wanting to make the white doe uncomfortable in anyway. His pale eyes looked over her aura again; he always found innocent aura so beautiful, and each creature had their own unique color and shape.

He stepped closer towards the stones, but not too close out of respect of the doe's space. "The Playground looks beautiful tonight," he added, his eyes moving over the glistening boulders laden with fresh, green moss.

Nevé made an awkward dip of

Nevé made an awkward dip of her head in a gesture of salutations, her eyes still trained on the radiance that was this stag's nape. She couldn't help but admire the beauty of the colors, which made her white pelt seem rather dull; the only pop of tone she possessed wasn't even apart of her hide, and that happened to be the feathers of blue and purple she had weaved into the base of her tail, creating almost a bird-like plume. "I am, indeed, enjoying it; I've always had an appreciation for the magnificence of the moon," she quietly replied, a minuscule smile forming across her snout.

Noticing that he took a step towards the rocky location, the albino hind nodded towards the spot beside of her before focusing her watery, red eyes back onto the stag's figure. "I must agree; it's quite the sight! I wouldn't mind if you joined me up here." Her invitation was genuine, and she even scooted over as best as she could to provide the larger deer more room. From this angle, she could roughly approximate that the darker-pigmented male was close to twice her height, which was strange to her seeing as she generally thought of herself as being a bit above average. Apparently this encounter proved otherwise.

"She is a thing of beauty,"

"She is a thing of beauty," he said, his eyes moving over to the Moon and back to the white doe. When she offered him a spot beside her, he bowed in gratitude. "Thank you, I would very much like to join you," and in an instant he was beside her. Such blinding speed was an attribute of his vampirism, and now he was sitting himself down onto the cold stone.

Upon closer inspection of the doe, he realized that she was albino. He could not help but feel pity for her since the sun would not be her friend either. But the Moon made her pure white fur glow brightly, as if she were the Moon herself. The light from the Moon also seemed to make his pale eyes glow as well; his irises were a pale purple-pink, and his pupils were a white.

The speed of this stag's

The speed of this stag's approach certainly caught her off guard, but wasn't enough of a shock to uproot her from her seat; she, in fact, found it interesting how he was beside of her in the blink of an eye. With him now in such a close proximity, she had to crane her head back a few degrees to be able to look at his facial features, but she didn't mind. Nevé was now able to make out the unique coloration of his oculars, a trait she always seemed to pay close attention to on any creature. What was curious to her, though, was that his pupils were an icy white rather than the traditional black - but, that seemed to be something they had in common, fore hers were of a dark maroon, standing out brilliantly against her pale red irises.

"I'm Nevé, by the way," she announced, keeping her focus on the male. In a one-word description of the new-found acquaintance, the alabaster hind would likely refer to him as beautiful, which is what he was. She was fond of his unique exterior; the way his neck possessed a multi-toned appearance, how his lighter-hued face was basked a glorious platinum in the moonlight. What she was entranced the most with, though, was his voice. She'd never hear such a unique accent, and in comparison to his baritone way of speaking, she felt dull and high-pitched. "Thank you, by the way, for joining me. I always enjoy the company of others."

“It is a pleasure to meet

“It is a pleasure to meet you, Nevé,” he said, his head moving to face the pale doe. He found her quite lovely; she had such a pure and clean white pelt, opalescent in this moonlight. He found her doe face very beautiful; the soft and sharp features of her face made her seem delicate and strong. He mentally shook himself from this thought. He tried his hardest to avoid being attracted to females since it only ended in heartbreak on his end.
“My name is Bela,” he rumbled, his ancient voice expressing his old origins. The closest his accent would be comparable to would be Russian, but there was just something different about it.

"The pleasure is all mine,

"The pleasure is all mine, Bela," she responded, either rounded ear perking forth in a manner of interest. "I must say, your accent is new to me; if I may ask, are you from the forest?" After she spoke her inquiry, Nevé inwardly grimaced, afraid she may have pushed for too much information too soon. "Oh, but don't feel entitled to answer," she quickly added on top of her previous words, the worry of coming off as nosy clutching at her heart.

The white doe, while waiting on an answer, took the time to look her new companion, Bela, over once more. She was certainly happy to have his company, and even more thrilled at the acquaintance coming off with so much interest to her. Tilting her fine skull faintly to the side, she gazed up at him with a wide-eyed look, her smile delicately woven across her lips.

"It is alright," he said, his

"It is alright," he said, his stoic face forming a gentle smile, "I was born outside of this forest. I simply visit here." Which was true, though lately he had been practically living here to get away from the busy life he had as a "human"; running a pharmaceutical company was not peaceful work, but he enjoyed it.

He discovered this forest 500 years ago, stumbled across it when enchanting a mirror to show his reflection; it worked, but it also made him able to enter in and out of this forest at a whim. The forest was a wonder when he first laid eyes on it, and when his body changed it was simply amazing. He thought he had seen everything in the 1,500 years he had lived at the time, but this was beyond anything he could have imagined.

Her eyes opened wider in her

Her eyes opened wider in her awe for the stag's story, bringing herself to say, "Wow, that's amazing, Bela! I've always wondered what it was like outside of the forest, but I could never bring myself to leave. It's been my home since I was a mere fawn, and I guess it's just a part of me now. Thank you for sharing that with me."

Pressing her pink nose to his shoulder, not even bothering to think if it may have been too invasive for the stag, Nevé held herself there for a few heartbeats before pulling back to her original pose, her face expression falling ever so slightly. "But, you said visiting... Well, I sure hope I'll get to see you during any future visits!" Though her mood dropped for perhaps a moment or two, she picked it right back up and her former smile graced its way back to her muzzle. "I've truly been enjoying your company," she said, an appreciative tone to her words. The albino hind didn't usually have much companionship, so this time was something she was certainly relishing in.

He smiled at her, “Your

He smiled at her, “Your welcome.” When the doe nuzzled his shoulder, he did not do anything. He didn’t mind the touch. “I come here very often,” he said, “So, I am sure you will see me around.”
He truly did enjoy this forest, and tried to come as often as he could, even though he could not explore all of the places in the forest. “And I have been enjoying your company as well,” he said, his pale eyes looking her face over as he spoke.

"I'm glad to hear that I may

"I'm glad to hear that I may get to see you again!" she chimed happily, turning her gaze from the large stag to the environs that stretch out before them. Grassy fields were the closest thing to them, and beyond that lay the birch forest, but none of it could seem to escape the glorious glow that was the moonlight.

"So, Bela, if you were not born here in the forest... then where at? I can't help but assume by our difference in accents that it's not very close by. Again, I don't mean to push, so you don't need to answer if you feel it's too personal." The doe didn't take her reddened oculars from the sight set in front of her, but did direct a single ear in the male's direction to show that she was, in fact, open to listening.

“It is alright,” he said,

“It is alright,” he said, moving his gaze in the direction she was looking at. The forest seemed very well lit tonight by the Moon’s light. It was very beautiful. “I born in the human realm a very long time ago.” Two millennia. Around the time of Jesus Christ, and he grew up in Northern Europe. He thought about his parents and sisters everyday since he last saw them, but when he was finally free from his “Mother,” which was 200 years, they were long dead. But, he was lucky enough to find his sister's decedents and keep in communication with them. They knew he was a vampire; they had heard the story that was passed down when his family found out what happened to him, when in a moment of strength Bela told them what happened before disappearing, of course not willingly.

"Hugh-man... Oh, humans! I

"Hugh-man... Oh, humans! I believe my mother once talked about them! She said that, when she was a fawn herself, she'd been told about humans, and how they walk on two legs as opposed to four like us!" Nodding in satisfaction with the way she'd worded her phrase, the doe turned to look back at Bela, hoping that she'd recalled the old memory correctly. She found it peculiar that her new-found companion was from such a long way away, and how he ended up here in the forest of all places! "I wonder what it's like there..." Nevé then trailed off to herself, not particularly addressing the stag at her side.

He smiled at her enthusiasm,

He smiled at her enthusiasm, “Yes, that is exactly what they are.” His eyes moved over to the doe again, looking over her face, wondering whether or not to address her question, but decided to anyway. “It is a lot like here,” he said, looking back over to the moonlit forest, "Just more buildings, like The Ruins."

"Really?" she inquired,

"Really?" she inquired, trying to imagine what kind of place it was like, but all she was able to conjure were a bunch of deer walking on their hind legs amongst many structures similar to the Ruins. Lowering her head to the ground, the white doe nosed around the frost-tipped rock, able to just faintly inscribe a rather sloppy doodle of what her imagination sketched out. "Like this?" Nevé questioned, the picture only lasting a few moments before the heat that had come off of her snout during the making of it melted the thin layer of ice. "Aw... Well, I bet it's absolutely lovely either way."

He nodded, and when he craned

He nodded, and when he craned his neck to look at her drawing, it was gone. He chuckled, “It is alright. It is lovely. Maybe you would like to accompany me sometime to see for yourself?” He hoped his offer did not sound brash of him to ask, but as a gift for her sweet company. He moved his head away from her, since he was hovering over her still when he was trying to see the picture, and resumed it into its tall position.

Pouting a bit due to the fact

Pouting a bit due to the fact he hadn't seen it, Nevé went to incline her head back to look at the stag when he proposed the offer. "Oh my, I would love to! I hope I wouldn't be of any inconvenience." The doe was all gleeful at the extension of friendliness, her smile growing ever wider by the second. Again, she pushed her nose to Bela's shoulder, this time holding the position for a few moments before retracting again. "Thank you, so very much! I promise I won't be of any bother," she piped, too overcome with happiness to sit completely still.

"Oh, it is no trouble," he

"Oh, it is no trouble," he said with a smile, and his smile broadened by how excited she was, exposing his white fangs. He wondered if she would like the human realm, or what she would even look like? That was one of the most exciting things for him: seeing what they look like as a human.

Nevé briefly inspected the male's glistening fangs that were revealed by his expanding smile. She was more curious than anything by them, but dismissed any thoughts she may have had on his pointed teeth as another wave of excitement came about. "Wow... This is truly an honor," she murmured, inwardly hugging herself. Yes, she loved the forest, but something about venturing off and exploring a new domain was extremely appealing to the doe. "Your offer is much appreciated," the albino hind spoke, giving Bela a wide-eyed look of pure joy.

He continued to smile and

He continued to smile and said, "It is really no trouble. I am happy to take other to the human realm. I just hope you enjoy your visit there." Sometimes a bit of culture shock affected the newcomers, sometimes even sheer panic. He hoped she would not be fearful of the human realm when she would arrive.

"Would you be willing to tell

"Would you be willing to tell me more about it?" she questioned, adjusting her body so that she was more at an angle to him in order to gain a better view. "And, if I'm allowed to ask this, how would we get to the human realm? Would we be walking far?" Nevé was truly curious about this whole situation, and thrilled on top of that! She'd get to experience new things, see different sites - surely a breath of fresh air from the same forest she was used to traversing. Humans, though... Would they take kindly to a pair of deer walking around their area? She wasn't too keen on the idea of other species barging all over her home-place! Bela seemed to know what they were about to indulge themselves into, though, so she wasn't too awfully worried.

[She doesn't realize that she'll change in appearance once they cross over. xD]

He chuckled at her

He chuckled at her enthusiasm, the laughter coming out in deep, thundering rumbles. “It is very different than it is here. There are many buildings and many people, especially in bigger cities, which are congregations of humans and their homes. And it is sometimes much louder, and there is not as much forests or natural areas as there used to be.” He reminisced about this; he literally saw man expand right before his eyes, destroying ancients beauties along with them. “And well will be traveling through a portal,” he added.

If she could blush, Nevé

If she could blush, Nevé would be doing so at this moment; she ducked her head a bit as she felt the skin beneath her fur grow warm, embarrassed of the fact she may have come off as childish with her joy. "Not many forests? Wow, they must not know what they're missing out on, these hugh-mans!" she commented, shaking her head in slight confusion - who would prefer to be around a bunch of buildings rather than under the trees? "Huh, I'm learning many new words today!" she giggled despite her ignorance, hoping that Bela would understand her reason for not knowing much of what he referred to. She never really did, after all, talk to many folk!

A bit shy about asking her next question, she thought over how she wanted to word it, then decided just to jump right into the inquiry; "One thing that I'm a bit afraid of, though... How are the humans going to react with two deer marching around their territory - er, I mean, cities? That's my only real concern with this journey, Bela."

He chuckled, “They are

He chuckled, “They are missing out on much.” Which was true, in his opinion. He grew up living in a forest, and to see them destroyed before his eyes was one of the most horrible things he had ever seen in his life. But when her next questions came, his smile faded, realizing he had forgotten to mention that important detail.
“We will not be deer. We will be humans,” he said.
Eiruleyki's picture

"We will be... human?" the

"We will be... human?" the doe asked, her question coming out in slow, precise syllables. She wasn't quite sure what to think of this - half of her was fascinated at the thought of walking upright, and the other half was utterly mortified. "Will I always be one of them?" she then inquired, her tone a bit frightened. She didn't want to remain permanently in a human's form, that's for sure! She was quite happy about being a deer, and if she had to give that up just for a little exploration, well... It just didn't seem right to her.

“No,” he said, “You will turn

“No,” he said, “You will turn back into a doe when you return here.” He gave her a gentle smile to reassure her. “You have nothing to be afraid of.” It was a strange and new experience when he first entered the forest and seeing his new body, and it only took a short amount of time for him to get used to it. He still had his vampire and human mind and all of the tendencies associated with them, but did not have any of the animalistic instincts that an Irish Elk would have.
