"Your antlers are filled with sick music"
The dark blue and golden deer's steps became agitated, careful.
Before him in the shadows sat what he could only describe as a monster.
"Are they?"
The bloodstained creature rumbled back, a sick smile twisting over its features, white teeth within a bloodstained muzzle.
It stood slowly.
Chopin reeled back, tossing his own head in disgust as the smell of rot and fresh blood washed over him.
"No. My antlers are filled with broken hearts and shattered dreams. That, is no music."
Chopin retched, legs trembling under him as he took a few steps back.
"w-why not a-at least k-keep yourself fresh?" he managed.
"Why should I. I seek not the company of others"
He stepped from his shadows, shaking his head and body to loosen his clotted fur.
"I am not here to please you. Nor am I here to please anyone else. I do not mind the rot and decay"
The young gentleman pranced back a few more steps, not wanting the beast near him, his own heart fluttering in uneven rhythm in his chest.
"Is that why you act the way you do" the grating voice rumbled, the surgeon stepping ever closer
"To please others? To bend to their expectations, their whims?" he chuckled, slow and deep.
"You're pathetic"
Chopin shivered, trembled in place as the larger deer paced around him, staining his blue fur with dark blood.
"No. I choose to act like this. I am happy, when I act like this"
The monster lowered his head slightly, on eye level with the music lover, close, too close, and Chopin retched again as thick streams of blood from Vilnius' own heart seeped over his head and antlers.
"Are you afraid?"
"I do not fear death"
The bloody deer laughed again, throwing his head back, hearts in his tines picking up speed as if mocking Chopin along with him.
"I am not Death. And Death is not something to be feared. Too many fear Death when it is but a kind companion come to ease our sufferings. No."
"life, is far worse than Death, dear gentleman"
He turned slowly, easing down in his shadows with a sigh, crows stirring above him, attracted by the scent and sight of blood and flesh.
Chopin stepped away once more, offering a polite bow to the creature, ears ticking to listen to the beating hearts in his tines once more before leaping off.
"Then there's the Gentlemen:
Can't even shout, can't even cry
The Gentlemen are coming by.
Looking in windows, knocking on doors,
They need to take seven and they might take yours."
"Watch yourself, Chopin."
"I can hear your heart"
"it beats strangely"
"I like that"
"But I would rather deal with the occasional heartache of the world.
than lose my heart.
and never experience its beauties again"
"You will not have it"
