The day was warm and red. Giant dandilions sprouted from the ground, giving the deer a little difference in the forest.
A large stag wandered today. A stag with an intricate brownish pattern on his coat. His giant, white antlers floated above him as he walked elegantly. A few does stopped for a second to look at him, raising an eyebrow or smiling or giggling before they carried on. His expression didn't change. He was used to it.
Another stag wandered about, only instead of elegance, he held a terrified tremble. On a normal day, this deer was a cheerful, lovestruck teenager. But today was different. The sunlight was red. And so his pelt was red. He had changed into a completely different deer. His mask giving him a deep voice, and his antlers grew giant and red. Dispite his good defences, he was as fragile and afraid as a newborn fawn.
The two walked passed each other. In truth, this was Owen first day in the forest, and everything was new to him. He was caught dazing at everything, some things amazing, some things scary. Tybalt raised an eyebrow. What was he so afraid of?
Tybalt approached the cowering red stag with caution, "Good morrow, red stag..."
Owen whirled around, shaking madly. "H-h-h-h-helllllllo...."
Tybalt furrowed his brow, "What frightens thee so?"
"O-oh, uh..." Owen glanced downward for a seconds. "P-pretty much ev-verything..."
"Speak up, stag, 'tis not polite to stutter!"
Owen cringed at him raising his voice. His ears lowered even more, if it was possible, and his head drew backward and downward. "T-this forest it's.... it's new and... frightening to m-me..."
"'Twas a little better... But what about this place frightens thee so? There is nothing to fear here."
"I-it's just... N-new to me..."
Tybalt raised his head, looking down at the stag infront of him. What a coward. Not even worth fighting. He returned to his spot in the flowers, keeping a weary eye on Owen. The red deer wandered over to a familiar hill. Tybalt turned his head, his ears pricking. He got up and stepped toward Owen.
"Caution, red stag, thou dost not know what thou shalt face!"
Owen didn't hear him in time. He was already inside the mushroom circle. A violent gallop was heard, and suddenly a tan stag was before him, ears flat.
"How darest thee, red stranger, that thou dost intrude upon my home!" Mercutio shouted, lowering his head. "What business dost thou have here? Speak, or shall I push thee over now!"
"I-I-I-I-Iiii" Owen stammered before bolting away. He ran as far as the Pond, freezing blood rushing through his vains.
"A tad protective, was it not, merry Mercutio?" Tybalt said, approaching the tan stag.
Mercutio huffed. "'Twas brought upon himself." He sat down on his hill. He eyed his rival, "I warn thee, fair Tybalt, this one is not so merry this day."
Tybalt raised an eyebrow, letting out the faintest of smirks. "Of course. Until we meet again."

Owen panted, trying to catch his breath in the water. He looked at his reflection. His red face, his giant antlers... It didn't really suit him.
"W-why were they s-so m-m-mean?..."
"Clock!" A melodious voice sounded.
Why did that name seem familiar?
"Clock!" A young, butterfly pelted doe with large red antlers approached Owen. "Clock?"
Owen knew she was there, and started shaking, not turning his head at all. "W-w-w-w-who's there?..."
"Clock, you look..." Danielle's ears lowered. "Excuse me..."
Owen whirled his head around. "W-w-who are y-you?"
Danielle's eyes lowered, but still stepped forward. "My name is Danielle..."
"W-what d-do you want?"
"I just... wanted to find someone..."
Owen saw the sadness in her eyes. He got up, crimson fur dripping with water. "Is there an-anything I-I can do t-to help?"
Danielle shook her head sadly. "No.. I know where he his... He'll be back later. Sorry..."
Owen came up to her slowly, and nuzzled her. "I'm sorry..."
"It's okay..." Even though he was different, she still blushed at his nuzzle, but it didn't make her feel much better. Although, this one was a lot different from Down Town and Edward. He wasn't depressing, just scared. And that could be overcome.
Danielle blinked, "What's your name?"
Owen twitched an ear, surprised by her sudden kindness. "It's O-Owen..." He blushed, not very visible on his red face. "Y-you said you were D-Danielle?"
She nodded, "Yeah... It's nice to meet you, Owen..."
Owen offered a very small, timid smile. "N-nice to meet you too... You're the first person who's shown any k-kindness to me today... They others w-were so m-m-mean..."
"Others? Who were they?"
Owen paused. "W-well... One was b-big... He had big white antlers, and a long f-face... The other h-had a smiling mask, and golden antlers..."
Danielle rolled her eyes, "I know those guys. Don't worry, they weren't just picking on you, they do that to everyone. Although, I gotta say, you must've been a really easy target for them. Being so... uh.."
"Af-fraid..."
"Yeah..."
"I-I know... I j-just can't help it... I'm always so sc-scared of things I don't know... And this is m-my first day here..."
"Well, then, there's nothing to blame you for, I guess... Here," she smiled at him, "I can show you around if you want. Maybe you won't be so afraid after a tour."
Owen smiled timidly again, "M-maybe... Th-th-thank y-you..." He blushed again. "Y-you are v-very k-k-k-kind..."
Danielle smiled, taking him for a nice slow walk. She showed him everything, and he listened with great interest. He always blushed at her sight, and even she felt her heart quicken once. Owen was different. He was kinder than Down Town and Edward. He was much closer to the real Clock than they were. At the end of the tour, they were back at the Pond.
"So... whatcha think?" she asked.
"I-I don't... W-well I..." He paused to gather himself, "I-it's a l-lot less scary now... Th-thanks to y-you..."
Danielle smiled sweetly, "Not a problem... Nobody should be that afraid of anything. All it took was a little handle on things. Not too much to ask for, right?"
"Y-y-y-yeah..." He smiled, this time a little wider. "Y-y-you are a v-very k-kind and... and b-b-beautiful doe, y-y-you know..."
Danielle blinked in surprise, and blushed. "Thank you..."
"I-I hope s-s-someone i-is that k-kind to you..."
The butterfly doe smiled, "Oh yeah... There is someone... I love him very much..."
"A-and he loves you t-t-too?"
Danielle nodded happily, "Uh huh."
"C-can I meet h-h-him?"
Danielle looked down at the ground, sighing softly. "Afraid not... He's the one I was looking for when I found you... I dunno where he is, but.. he'll come back..."
"H-how do you know?"
"When it's sunny again... When it's not red anymore... He'll come back."
"N-not r-r-red?" Owen looked down, thinking. "W-what does the s-sun look like?"
Danielle saw that the sun was rising again, becoming whiter as it rose higher. Before it came back to normal, she sighed. "I don't think you'll ever see it..."
Owen looked at her, a sad look in his eyes. Before he could respond...
Clock interrupted him.
