"Horses with Wings? The Pegasus...
Many think they are creatures of beauty and kindness...
Well the Beauty part is right... the kindness?
No, these creatures are anything but kind.
They swoop and dive, attacking our kind...
Coming from the Mountains to feed on the young and the weak.
They have fangs... and mouths of a serpent...
Beautiful to Behold... but that Beauty...
Will be the last thing you see."
Information Under the Cut
It should be known that I do not draw normal creatures... even something like the Pegasus is twisted in my warped little mind. Anyway, concept artwork for these lovely creatures that live in the Territory of Azanamas from the group I'm in World of Esnaas.
The Pegasus of Azanamas
Height: 22 Hands and Up (88 Inches/7.3 Feet and Up)
Coloring: Natural Horse Patterns with Bird Colorations for their Wings, Manes/Tails, Hooves/Horn and Mouths.
Features: Extremely light built bodies that are often heavily muscled on the backs and chests to help support the wings. Their hooves are fitted with a very soft pad at the Bottom Center of the Hooves (The Frog), these pads are slightly Hallowed Out and act like a suction Vacuum for the Pegasus to land on the cliffsides and mountains in which they live in. These Pegasus are not Herbivores, and have developed sharp canines and fangs to hunt down prey, they also feature a horn at the center of their foreheads, common shapes seem to be a forward half moon cresent with a prong at the back of the horn before it meets with the head. Because they live in the mountains most of the time they bear a very heavy, thick coat of fur to help keep them warm and their feathers are more built to withstand the cold.
Temperament: Extremely aggressive when it comes to the Stallions, and territorial over their lands. They are wild and often times unpredictable, if anything ventures into the territory of a herd of these beautiful creatures they are rarely seen coming out alive. It's not common to see a tamed Pegasus but there are rare cases in which one has been domesticated to the point of being docile and like a normal horse in behaviors. If tamed they are often very good for guarding lands and farms, because they are not afraid to kill invading wolves or predators that come into their territory.
Diet: Any sort of Meats, commonly while living in the Mountains the Pegasus will prey upon the Goats and such that dwell on the cliffsides. Going up and spotting a Kid, Ill, Weak or Old animal and diving down, giving a sharp rush of wind and knocking whatever they had attacked off the side and waiting for it to hit the ground before feeding. When food is scarce, it is not uncommon to see them brutally attack one of their own, a foal or older Pegasus is often times a target in a herd when there is little food around for them to feed upon. In many cases, due to the pushing back of the Dwarves and Humans... the Pegasus have been forced to attack and kill them for a source of food and in other cases due to being pushed out of their homes they have attacked the Harpies and even the Naga as well. Many races are in danger of becoming prey to these creatures the more they are pushed from their natural habitats.
Other Information
Those who enter or approach the Kedasiel mountains would hear the whispers "Beware the Mountains..." these gorgeous creatures are the reason for such a thing, Beautiful to Behold but dangerous to approach.
The Pegasus of Azanamas compete with the Gryphon's in the Mountains for food and shelter, because of this the Pegasus have started moving down the mountain range that they dwell in and into the forests and clearings that are further out. This causes problems for other races such as the Humans, Naga and even the Water Usarinon because the creatures are naturally predatory and will not hestiate to take the chance to take a young child, a weakened or ill adult or an elder to feed.
These gorgeous horses hunt in 'packs' or herds, showing a clear deal of intelligence within. They communicate and show clear signs of having a highly advanced style in such things, vocalizing with thousands of different whinnies, knickers and other sounds. A general herd is often times lead by a Lead Stallion, with his Harem of Mares. Though it is not uncommon for a pair of Brothers to also lead a Harem.
Wooo! It's all said and done 8D
Don't be mad at me for totally corrupting something D: But I love the ideas of Herbivores turned into Predators >3>;;;; (Such as the Sianach and the Delgeth)
And it gives you something to think about if the Predator became to prey in some cases <3< Such as what if the Wolf became the Prey of the Deer? Or the Lion the Prey of the Gazelle |D
Those shades of green are so
-tosses a plump goat
Nnng, the green color of the horns and hooves.. adfasdfasdf.<3
Amazing as always darn it.
