Problem with connecting to TEF?

Graypawx's picture
Okay, so. I have an account and all, and I tend to go on The Endless Forest to interact with other players just for fun.

However, it takes roughly 1 minute to log in/connect. That isn't an issue, but when it's done connecting: no players appear. There is a symbol at the bottom, the same as my regular pictogram, that obtains all the players that will spawn in the map. It takes about 10+ minutes to load when I'm lucky. When I'm not lucky, about an hour, or it doesn't even show the players.
So when it does work and players spawn, it glitches horribly. I go over to people and attempt to make actions towards them; but they do nothing for relatively a minute or so, then I see a puff of dust and they're all the way across the map, not even near me.
Not to mention, when some people do spawn; there is still a symbol at the bottom that holds an amount of players that still haven't spawned yet, and usually never spawn at all.
My internet is pretty slow, to be honest, but it actually works without glitching about 1/3 of the time.
I refresh the game sometimes, along with my internet. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It really irritates me because I'm trying to play the game with my friend, but I constantly have to refresh. I also realized that when the glitching is significant, I can do an action; and a nearby player does it in sync - at the exact same time. When I do a call, I hear other noises besides the one that my character, a miniature deer, makes.
It's extremely odd, and I feel like I waste too much of my time trying to get on.
Like I said, it works sometimes; but even then it does have a tiny bit of glitching, such as people staying in one spot and not moving for about 30 seconds, then appear somewhere else doing something.
I don't know what it is, but I am capable of playing other multiplayer games without lag, regardless of my internet acceleration, and have fun.
This, I only get a little chance of being able to playing it actually.
Sorry if there was a thread somewhere that diagnoses this problem, I just needed quicker assistance.

Thank you!

It's most definitely your

It's most definitely your connection responsible for that. Most of the problems you have explained are common for that, I have encountered them too on a occassion or two. Is the dot in the lower left corner of the game orange?

I haven't heard of some other issues, hovewer. How are they all the way across the map? I'm not sure if I understand how do you mean that. The thing with the sync action sounds also very weird to me, I've never heard of it before. Are you sure you don't have the mini spell saved? If you have, I'm not afraid to say it is the connection but I do still find it weird.

No glitching at one third of time... It sounds a little 'wrong' to me. Your internet will most definitely be the trouble, the game tends to have quite high needs at times towards those with weaker ways of connecting, sad to say. I find it pretty unlikely, but there may be some erroneous stuff in your game files too. There are files for everything, they can produce crazy glitches if messed up the right way and foremost, there are files for networking.

I'm afraid I cannot help you too much, but anyway.
Have you installed the most recent version and from Tale of Tales? Have you tried running the game as an administrator?

(o) Yeah, the dot that shows

(o) Yeah, the dot that shows my connection is orange while it's pending to connect me to the server and allow access to see other players.

(o) All the way across the map as in, one second they were directly in front of me; the next, a totally different part of the map, as if they never stopped.

(o) I have the most recent version of TEF, and I have ran it as an administrator. It doesn't work, neither does trying it on another computer.

Thank you for the advice! It probably is my internet, unfortunately, and it cannot be fixed.
Oh well, let's just hope I get those chances that allow me to actually interact with other players sometimes.

Pretty sure it is your

Pretty sure it is your connection. ):

Are you sure you have downloaded it from Tale of Tales? I doubt you haven't, but just wanted to point out that if you download it someplace else it is going to be somehow wrong. I did it once and boom, my antivirus found a trojan horse there.

Has the dot ever been green for you or not? By that map thing, is it that they are first in front of you and then they are quickly pushed far away where they stay?

(o) I hope I downloaded it

(o) I hope I downloaded it from the correct site. Here's the link: http://tale-of-tales.com/TheEndlessForest/download.html

(o) The dot has turned green for me before, but only right before it turns orange, and after everyone spawns; if they even do, which somewhat indicates that I've partially connected or that I've appeared on their screen(s). Also, what I specifically mean by that is one moment they stop; when they are actually running instead of stopping, then when my game snaps back in place and stops glitching, they appear where they originally are on their screen instead of one spot. Everyone in the map will do that unless they weren't moving in the first place.

My game always connects

My game always connects (green dot) and then that turns orange and stays this way the entire time I play. However, I do not experience the lag (not a glitch technically) you are describing and it sounds like your connection to the server just isn't fast enough/consistent enough to handle the game.

You can try:
- Lowering the graphics settings of the game via the in game menu. Turning off shadows, lowering nature detail, and lowering character animation details will all help.
- Try connecting via another internet network.
- If you use a router and wireless internet, try moving closer to your router. This might improve your signal.
- Sometimes uninstalling the game completely and reinstalling magically improves lag for some members. Note that this isn't a sure-fire fix, but it has worked in the past.

TEF is odd in that your network might be sufficient for other online games, but will be unable to handle this one. We don't know why the server is so temperamental and unfortunately there isn't much that can be done about it from the player-end.

Yeah, I'm pretty convinced

Yeah, I'm pretty convinced that it's my internet that is causing this problem.
I'll attempt, however, to turn all the qualities down and see if that helps.
I don't think removing the game completely and reviving it will work since I've tried it on another computer, and it had the same symptoms.

Thank you for helping.

No problem sorry you're

No problem sorry you're having that issue; it's very annoying. Sometimes people will develop an inability to connect to the server, and then weeks/months later they will find themselves able to connect just fine.

Let's hope that happens

Let's hope that happens sometime. (x
Thanks again.
