If you are still a fawn then you can't keep any pelts yet, you have to wait until you grow up into a stag. Once you are a stag, pelts will stick to you and you can keep them forever
Have you named your deer yet for the game? It's pretty much like registering an account for the game itself, even though you have already registered for the community forum.
If you have already done that, then maybe you are just not logged in on the game. Simply press the little box in the bottom left corner of the game and press "Network." Then it asks you to log in your name and password. Do so, and shazam! You should be logged in, and you will be able to keep the masks, antlers, and pelts others give you. Always make sure to click that box and press "Quit" every time you quit instead of just closing the windor, or you will not be able to keep your pelt.
