I wrote the story then... It doesn't have to be really happened with your deer, it was just fun to write about Quad as a hero once. He would seem to be a perfect hero for deer x) . Have fun reading.

It was a sunny day. The Forest was filled with energetic light, covering the wondrous, great canopy of trees, but they led the sunlight peek down to the happy deer below.

And there was one deer, whose pelt was shining in the glory of the sunlight, dark blue and white colours almost glimmering in dances.

His mask was of a deer, brown and woody. But his eyes were too visible through the mask, as the open cuts, where the eyes should see through, were filled with lusty, sunlight shine-friendly brown eyes.

His antlers small, pointy like a gazelle’s, but sharp, what could stab hard.

And Quad, was the deer’s name.

Quad was stepping on a sunny trail, because enjoying the sun. Weather like this was quite usual, but that day, the sun was in a good mood, it seemed. The wind breezed calmly, cooling the overall heat of the sun.

For that, it was a quite nice day. While Quad walked towards The Birch Forest.

But,

A small light dashed through The Forest, confusing all the deer. Is it dangerous? What will it do? What does it mean? Is it a sign from The Twin Gods?

Quad didn’t notice it until he heard a strange ’Fweesh’ above his head. He turned his head to the voice, and saw a lightning-fast blue ’wind’. Quad was surprised.

Quad was also curious and confused, but the good thing is, he was brave. So he could make sure what the light is. He boldly ran after it.

He ran fast towards The Birch Forest, and soon reached to it.

The light was quick, but Quad was quick as well. He ran on and on, until into high yellow grass. He didn’t see much in front of him, but he saw all up ahead, where the light was.

Some time was over already, and the yellow grass was over as well. Quad stopped suddenly, with a very surprised face. A strange purple flame was in the way as a barrier of something. The blue light suddenly dropped from air. Right to Quad’s feet. Quad watched the light, with an awed face. The ’light’ was a blue liquid with a blue glow instead! Flying liquid! Quad was probably more surprised than a deer ever would be. Liquid that flies?
Quad peeled his eyes off the liquid and tried to reach his head, and with that, his sight over the flame. The flame was only a bit taller than Quad, and with that, Quad somehow reached his head over the flame.

The sight was horrible to a deer’s eyes.

Dead trees, flames burning in barren bushes, all the place of a badland, and red sky.

Quad’s heart stopped a beat.

Had a huge part of The Endless Forest burned down without the deer knowing what happened?

Quad sensed some kind of threat. And he felt like... The Endless Forest, what is the center of the happy deer, will face a great disaster soon?

Quad shaked a bit. He tapped the fire, and that happened, without him even knowing. The fire was cool to the touch, and it didn’t burn. Quad became back to his senses. He wondered why was the fire cold, not burning. And the flames looked like they could burn anything...

He suddenly realized he can look what is going on with The Endless Forest anyway, and he stepped through the purple flames, directly to hell.

Quad found himself in complete hell, and the barrier behind him was gone. All what he could see behind him, were the badland like he was in. He watched around with a horrified face. Had he fallen asleep? Did The Forest burn away!?

Fire burned, trees fell, the red sky was gleaming in fury, hot air wanted to cover the deer, and strangle it!

All was so chaotic.

The deer felt great anger, sadness and pain, and with almost tears in his eyes, he ran mindlessly around, angrily trying to crush smaller dead plants.

He was quite sure The Forest was gone. And with it, all his loved ones.

So he ran crazily.

Until he felt empty. All the emotions gone. Now he wanted himself dead.

Dead.

Dead like The Forest was.

Quad put his mask’s nose into the coal-dirt, snuffing it into it. Absent-mindedly, he muffled randomly things, that even he wasn’t aware of.

But...

The deer felt better.

Because the fires stopped burning, sky turned orange with a friendly tone, warm to eyes, trees stopped like statues and the air became breathable, cool.

Quad felt better. He felt hope.

The one of the most important thing ever.

He slowly stood up, raising to his legs, and he looked up to the sky’s edge. He watched the sun rise. The very sun he had walked under at the morning.

Quad felt all energy come back to him, and he ran towards the sun, like the fiery sphere guided the deer’s way to a new world.

And the deer followed it.

The one deer.

Quad ran, ran, ran, ran, ran, ran again, ran and ran.

But the badlands didn’t stop.

He ran more, more, more and more.

But he stopped.

Quad had been running straight all the time. So he found a tree in his way. A BIG tree.

„Oh great!“ he said to himself. „A damn tree! Now I can’t see the sun what I am supposed to follow!“

„Eheheheheee!“ said a voice.

„W-who’s there?!“ asked Quad with a very surprised face.

„Well, someone who is apparently creeping you.“ said the voice.

The voice was right besides Quad, and Quad looked there. He led out a scream.

The strange deer, who was the voice, got a nice laugh.

He had a long, red totem mask, his blue eyes shining through the mask.

His fur was black and white, like an orca’s or manta ray’s.

His antlers were curved, but pointy and definitely sharp.

A deer who was from Endless Forest, definitely!

The totem mask, orca pelt and the antelope antlers, of course!!!

Quad said quickly, with an amazed voice, as a Endless Forest deer stood right next to him: „Wow!!! You’re from The Endless Forest! But... How...“

„Shh. Calm down, deer. I’m not a real deer. I just made myself more like your kin because you would run miles away from me if you would see in my real form. Now don’t interrupt me, let me introduce myself. I am Kappal, and I am here to tell you what the hell is going on. I say you’re in the realm what is a danger to your Endless Forest. This place is named The Nowhere, the realm of bad and good cross, and you, you are The One, who is going to save Endless Forest from becoming a land like this. And don’t worry, The Endless Forest has no problems right now, all is usual like you lived there. You need to find a certain crystal, then you find... Someone. It doesn’t matter, blah blah, ask your questions.“ told Kappal, the strange deer. Quad wondered why has he changed so fast. He asked cautiously: „Who am I going to find...?“

„Alright, you gonna come back to this tree and answer something I’m going to ask you... Oops, I told you who you gonna meet here. Whatever, be ready to see a creature, me in my real form, okay? Now go go go, me has no time!“ told the deer quickly and poofed.

Quad was surprised. „What was... That?“

However, he was sure the only way to save The Endless Forest somehow was to do what Kappal said.

He didn’t know where to go. He ran away.

He ran on and on until evening. Then, he was already very tired. He had been running a long time, since he left The Endless Forest. That means a whole night and day. He was, of course, tired. But then...

...He saw a crystal castle.

„Now I’m sure I am seeing hallucinations.“ he said to himself with a very tired voice.

He walked closer, and the crystal castle didn’t vanish. Quad carefully went inside.

That was truly a rich palace, but not to deer’s eyes. The crystals were only minerals to a deer. But these crystals shimmered everywhere, everything was made of crystal. Quad walked in these halls, searching for any sign. Of the crystal he is supposed to find. While Quad was walking, he pondered thoughts. Having a hero quest is a weird feeling, and the feeling many are maybe depending on you, was even weirder. What a situation he has got himself into! Was it a dream? A nightmare? Reality? Quad couldn’t know, and he was deeply confused.
While he walked, he reached upwards and upwards. When he got into the final hall, with still no signs of any life, he saw a red, crystal that seemed be full of dark blood on a white crystal pedestal. Taint surrounded the crystal in the middle of a white and blue pure crystal palace. A strange sight, indeed. Quad thought that was the crystal he was supposed to pick up. He carefully tapped it.

Nothing happened.

He moved it.

Nothing happened.

He took it off the pedestal.

ROOOOAAAARRRR!

The crystal palace was all shaking around, trembling as it could fall apart!

Quad felt panic at first, but made himself calm, still wary. But real panic was to come.

After everything became quiet, a big, horrible demon came right into Quad’s sight.

The demon was more horrible than the Badlands itself!

It had BIG jaws, with giant teeth, that ranged about into 40 teeth in on jaw! Little burning eyes, with anger and madness, were eyeing the small deer. Truly small, because the demon was gigantic. It had also big hooves, as legs, and big clawy hands. It had a long spiky tail and big horns that seemed to stab through everything.

„Oh well... I’m in a real hell now...“ was Quad’s first thought.

The demon led out a roar, but didn’t say anything.

„And that demon seems stupid.“ thought Quad too.

The demon did slow steps towards Quad, but he, with the crystal, dodged the demon’s attempts to stomp him as he hopped around. The crystal wasn’t very big, enough for a deer to carry with a mouth. The crystal was a ring-like thing, so Quad had been putting it to his mask’s nose, so that was easy to carry, when you don’t mind the heaviness of it.

Quad dodged again and again, hopping and hopping, but a deer would be stupid to attack the demon. It was on fire, I mean, not fire, lava runned through the demon’s skin, to be accurate.

But the demon was soon tired of trying to stomp the deer, and it did something more horrible; It breathed fire!!!

Quad had to run quickly now, if he didn’t want to be a toast. His quick hoofsteps weren’t to be heard between from the demon’s roar. The demon had to turn itself, so his steps were like an elephant’s stomp and the floor seemed to collapse very soon. But it didn’t.

Instead, Quad was running for his life. And the door was to be blocked by the demon all the time.

The deer was soon to be tired. Who the hell could run forever from a gigantic demon!?

Instead, Quad took a different tactic. He mooed to the demon, who was a bit surprised about the strange voice, but then tried to stomp the deer again. Quad hopped away.

He had hopped next to a pedestal where was standing a crystal vase. Quad took it with his mouth (It was small enough) and threw it towards the demon. The fiery beast watched it flying towards it, then catched the vase and put it into his mouth. He instantly swallowed it with a sick ’glomp’. Quad looked at the demon. What disgusting voice! But he had to run, or else he would be ’glomped’ as well. Then, Quad thought about it... He had been teached to fight, and well, some tactics are useful. Find your enemies’ weak point. Of course! All he had to do was to throw things in this hall towards him and see what happens!

He took random small things, such as vases and crystal boxes, and threw it against the demon. The demon was slow, so some things flought towards it’s skin. And it seemed to hurt it!

But not so much the demon would collapse. Quad thought about another try of finding the weak point. He hided behind a big statue. The demon stepped near the statue. Then Quad ran towards the wall what was behind the statue. The demon wanted to follow the deer, but the statue was in the way! It’s hoof got stuck, and it fell towards the wall, while Quad was running quickly away from the falling demon.

The wall broke into shards, crushing the demon’s head. With a roar of pain, the demon’s ’life’ was finished.

Quad took many breaths before continuing. The fight was tiring. And he was hungry. And thirsty. When he reached the bottom hall, he had grass in a bowl and sparkling water in a bowl as well. Quad happily trotted over and ate a bit, for refresh.
Now, the only thing to do was to go back to the tree.

When he got back, he neared a weird being. A goat-human! Only it had the orca pelt remains. So this was the shapeshifter’s true form!

Quad wasn’t surprised much.

„So, you deer have came back. Heh, I couldn’t imagine you could run from the demon. Now is my question: Do you believe you can save The Forest? Because this is where where you are, to tell the truth. I know I said this is the realm, but for you to no lose hope, I lied. Now, do you believe you can do it?“ asked Kappal, the shapeshifter.

Quad’s minds seemed to craze again, but he pulled himself together.

„I can...“ he answered.

„Do you believe?“ asked Kappal again.

„I do!!!“ shouted Quad.

„Good. Give me the crystal, and I’ll do it. Your Forest will be back.“ said Kappal. Quad did give the crystal. Kappal pried some part of the bark open, and then fit the crystal to a hole fit to it.

„So you saved The Endless Forest! You knew about the crystal! And led me to retrieve it, and as I presume, you couldn’t get it by yourself...?“ said Quad quickly, as a light surrounded both of them.

„I could have... But I didn’t do it. After all, you are The One for The Endless Forest, you are a deer from there and it would be fair to do good by yourself. You are much of a hero, because every deer will do once good for all the other deer. But now, Farewell, deer, and long live your kin and you!“ said Kappal, after a blinding light surrounded them all.

Quad woke up. Was that a dream? No, it seemed too real to be true. He saw The Endless Forest around him. All deer happily playing and jumping around, dancing and many more things to do in The Forest, they did. The deer acted like nothing happened. Quad decided that it is not normal to speak about the adventure. The others wouldn’t believe it anyway, as they would have been much worried if they knew about the thing. But Quad, nevertheless, was happy. The deer were at least safe.

And The One, no matter which deer it is, will do once good for all The Endless Forest, no matter good or bad.

There are no bad things without good things.
