The old deer Timberrc starts the store to the fawns as they lay quitely around him...
Once a pond a time in the forest there was no animals about, there were no creatures, just the spirits of the past lives that lived in the forest! A gray mist hung over the forest and the Twin Gods walk through the forest and saw the sad quite forest, saw the gray mist floating and there were no sounds and no life. The gray mist was filled with the lost spirits of past forest creatures, and they gave them form and life again. They created three fawns to play in the forest, but the fawns grew board and drifted apart. The twin gods saw this and felt for the sadness of the fawns so they hid three gifts for the fawns to find! They told fawns to seek them out to find the gifts hidden in the forest. The fawns searched and search but could not find them! They grew tired and fell asleep beside each other for comfort and warmth and friendship with each other. When they woke they had found they could change each other’s pelts to different colors but it would only last for a while! The fawns learned that they could only change the coats of each other when work together, when they took time to keep each other company! The fawns set out to search the forest to find the other gifts the Twin Gods left them in the forest…
You are most welcome Keepiru, had fun with you three that night! Your title gave me an idea for a short story about the forest! If I get a little time I will try and add to it!
The three fawns searched the pine forest and they searched the white birch forest for the gifts left by the twin gods. This liked the underbrush as it was fun to run and play hide and seek and tag! They loved the wild berries that grew there and when they grew tired they would fall asleep in the berry patch. They did not try any of the other plants and pine cones of the forest as they loved the sweet taste of the berries! In the morning they would go down to the pond and play at the water’s edge as they feared the deep water! They could see the colorful fish swimming around the pond. They played with the frogs and chased the dragon flies that lived along the pond edge. The frogs played with the fawns in their own version of hide and seek crossed with keep away by crocking on one side of the pond until the fawns ran over to that side then a group of frogs would start up on the other side as the one near the fawns hide! The fawns ran back and forth looking for the frogs! Then the frogs would sing all at once as they watched the fawns chasing them.
The fawns forgot what they were looking for! One day after they were chasing the frogs they realized it was getting later to head back to their hiding spot in the forest amongst the berry patch. The fawns were very tired from playing and decided to sleep under the large willow tree by the edge of the pond. They were hunger from all the playing and started to look around the willow for something that they could eat. They missed the sweet berries in the forest for there were none growing by the pond. One fawn found the lichens hanging off one of the trees.
The largest fawn decided to nibble on the lichen, it was dry and had a funny tease to it but it satisfied the feeling of hunger! The felt a funny tingle in the nose and sneezed and felt that funny feeling when playing with the pelt magic. The fawn next to her face shimmered and a red and white face was looking at her, she jumped and scrambled behind the tree, the little stag fawn jump in the air and and ran a few paces then froze lessoning and watching the other little does with the strange face!
The doe little doe behind the tree nervously nibbled the lichen and then sneezed again and the mask shimmered again and a blue bird face appeared. The doe with the mask in turned her head sidewise because she could not see the mask. The little doe behind the tree rolled over on her back laughing to see such a funny face. The little stag saw what happened and ran up and nibble the lichen until he sneezed at the laughing doe and her face simmered and a dogs like face appeared! Then all three rolled on the ground laughing as they new they found the second gift from the twin gods. They all took turns playing with the mask spell and erupted into a mass spell casting. They played for hours until they could not keep their eyes open and they went over to the willow and lay down to sleep with their last masks on! They had a restfully sleep.
The sun slowly cheeped under the canopy of the willow tree and warmed the fawns as they started to stir from their restful sleep. They did not notice the brown knobs on their heads behind the masks they were wearing. They went down by the pond to get water for a drink. The little stag sneezed off his mask and bent down to drink and spotted the knobs between his ears. They were as long as his ears and brown and fuzzy like a squirrel, he cocked his head and turned to see the two does with the same thing on their heads. All three just stared at each other…
