The day had been fun. He got to run and jump around, even dance a little bit, with great company and the sounds of the pond. All the play must have drained him, because sometime during that he had fallen asleep. He had just recently woken up to find himself alone and now he was craving some blueberries.
He got up, stretched, and shook himself of sleep before starting his trip along the stream to the tree circle. As the young buck got closer to the Crying Idol he jumped over the stream. Of course he could have gone around the idol, but were was the fun in that? He could have gotten his fur red... but that didn't look too good on him. Shaking his head again, he continued his journey again.
Once at the part where pine forest met the birch forest he paused. It's quiet, like really quiet. He perks his ears to listen to his surroundings better, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity near him. Though there seem to be a few resting creatures in the area.

Starters are hard for
-----
Odessa hadn't busied herself with very much. The constant sunset was a bit heavy on her activity, she always felt like she should be sleeping under the purple glow. She'd gotten out and stretched her legs a little earlier in the day, but that felt like ages ago, now. She could certainly do with a bit of new excitement or adventure in her life this day.
She'd made herself a nice little spot in little triangle of saplings. She wasn't hidden from the world, but it was still nice to feel a little surrounded. Warm and comfortable, even. It had a nice view of the river, and both forests met nearby, making activity a constant thing, which didn't bother her any. She liked the hustle and bustle of the forest. Though she wished some would keep their mooing to a minimum.
She lifted her head from the thick grass, an imprint where she had been laying still resting on the blades. Tilting her head she watched a white creature walk within mere feet of her little comfort zone. He seemed a little out of place, maybe like he was looking for something. She stretched her wings out beside her, a quiver moving through her feathers.
Standing up, she moved a little closer to him, closing the gap but not crowding him. He was much shorter than her, and appeared younger. She lowered her head by way of greeting. "Hello there! Are you alright?" Odessa asked with a curious inflection, keeping her tone light.
Ashe flinched at sudden
Oh right, she had asked him something.
He nodded his head to her inquiry, he was great. Better than great actually. He let out a quiet coo to reassure her.
The harpy took a few steps
Her thin pupils dilated with curiousity, growing rounder. She put on a soft smile when he made a reassuring noise. Good, she hadn't startled him too much. But why wouldn't he speak, was she so intimidating? Maybe if she stopped hulking over him he would be more keen to interact and stick around.
She circled back to her little indent in the grass between her trees. Folding her legs beneath her she lay down with a great whump. She spread one wing in a sweeping gesture, indicating that he was welcome to join her if he wished. "I did not mean to startle you, I forget myself sometimes." She said with a light chuckle. "I am Odessa."
He watched as she walked a
He turned back her way and walked over, sitting down beside the harpy, slightly pressing against her wing for a moment. They were really pretty. And they were wings. He looked at her forelegs. They looked like that little bird-deer's legs. Huh.
He nodded when she introduced herself. Odessa. So that's what the picto said. Nice name. She was most likely expecting his name as well. He huffed, frustrated. He was use to having Mandel next to him and tell his name, for others to be able to read the picto, or possibly just guessing and calling him 'Ash' because of his scent. He tilted his head, not knowing how to introduce himself.
I suck and so does this
----
She noticed his hesitation before he came and joined her in her little refuge. Glad to have some company, this endless place could become lonely quickly. Interactions were often so fleeting, she appreciated the chance to possibly form a bond with someone.
Odessa smiled gently down at him when he pressed into her wing. She ruffled the feathers, giving them a little more volume so they might be more comfortable.
His frustration was apparent after her introduction, and yet he made no move to respond. She tilted her head to the side, pondering over the strange creature. Was he shy? Did he just not care to share that information about himself? Her eyes grew wide when the most likely situation dawned on her.
"You can't speak, can you dear? She asked with a light tone. She didn't want to embarass him, but it would be something important to know to continue their day.
Nah. I know how it is
Like I did falling asleep before replying last night and then not even doing it during the day. Shame on me.-----
Ashe shook his head, confirming her guess. He's glad that Odessa was able to tell, and so quickly too. That's good, he didn't want to come off as rude.
When he noticed the harpy had ruffled her feathers, he babbled in chirps and clicks, admiring the differently shaded feathers, even going as far as moving his head back to get a closer look. He takes back his earlier thought; they aren't just pretty, they are gorgeous. Though he usually does get over excited about wings or feathers. They're just really nice and pretty. It's a wonder how he hasn't started collecting them.
Ashe stopped his chatter as he realized what he was doing. He had began to press the top of head to her wing without even asking. That wasn't really nice. He lifted his head from the feathers and looked up at her, tilting his head slightly and flattened his ears to his head.
Odessa smiled down at him
She laughed at his excited chirps. Realizing that it was caused by her wings she lifted the one closer to him and spread it over him, gently pressing down to cover him momentarily. She moved it away from him and lay it down on the ground, leaving it outstretched so that he could look more closely if he wanted. She was growing quite fond of the fellow.
She tilted her head, curious. With not much thought she pulled one of the smaller feathers from the top of her wing. It was darker in colour than some of them, but still a rich teal. She leaned forward and tucked it neatly in with the flowers that were about his neck. "There, now you have one as well. Maybe you'll even fly." She said with laughter on her words.
She wasn't sure what she should call him. 'Little One' seemed a little patronizing, just because he was shorter than her. Maybe she could manage to guess his actual name, but that seemed like a very far off chance. Perhaps a natural nickname would come out of their interactions. For now, she would settle with the mystery of not knowing.

Looking up at Odessa, he realized that she definitely was not a dangerous one or one to be wary of. Her eyes didn't even look like those of felines anymore. No, she seemed to be genuinely kind and didn't mind him staring at her wings- he looked down to see her wing on the ground-; she even had one of them spread out for him look at.
He looked back up at her seeing a perplexed look. What was she thinking about? It was most likely how to address him. He wondered if it would be something such as "Fluffy" if she ever came up with one.

This is bad. Soz. ---- Odessa

Odessa wasn't all too worried about the feather, if she hadn't plucked it she would have shed it eventually. They always grow back, so no use being stingy about it. She chuckled softly and bowed her head in return.
She returned her wings back to her sides and stood from the ground. She stretched out her back legs, relieving the prickly feeling from sitting so long. She nodded her head in the direction of the Birch Forest, "I don't know about you, but I could do with some excersize." She said, looking down at her companion.
Maybe they could stop in the Blue Bowl for some berries, or visit the Crying Idol with it's mysterious Red spell. She just needed to stretch her limbs before she managed to doze off on the poor creature. "I suppose if we travel together I will need something to call you..." She trailed off, tilting her head to the side.
Ashe watched her get up and
He nodded to the idea and began to walk but stopped when he noticed that she hadn't moved with him. He walked back over to the harpy and watched her. At the her next words he tried to think of a way to perhaps give her an idea of what his name was.
He slightly turned so she saw his side and turned his head, pressing it against his side before letting out an exaggerated huff. He wasn't sure if she would get the hint that it was something to do with his scent.
Odessa fell into stop
She watched him curiously as he breathed in his own fur. Something about his name. She thought about it curiously. What did he smell like? There were lots of floral hints around him. Could he possibly be named after some kind of plant? "Violet? Jasmine?" She shook her head. Those didn't seem quite right for him. But then there were some other scents that she couldn't quite identify.
"I will figure it out eventually." She laughed and shook her head. She passed by the thick trunks of the trees that surrounded what was commonly called the blue bowl. The ground sloped inward and she picked her way around tangled weeds and rocks. The scent of berries hung heavily in the air. The weather had changed suddenly, so it was very dark out, but she didn't mind. Her catlike eyes offered her good night-vision. She plucked a few berries off and munched as she pondered over his name.
Jasmine and Violet? Hah, no
Ashe nodded his head quickly. He really believed that she would eventually figure out what his name is. There was no rush for it though, he didn't mind if he called him something besides his name at the moment. Just as long as it's not degrading or humiliating.
Following her into the Tree Circle he went to his favorite bush- yes he had a favorite berry bush- and started to pick at them. It was a bit harder for him to eat, but he had gotten use to it. And when he got frustrated about trying he just gave up and waited to try again when he was in the mood.
He hadn't noticed the weather had changed into night until he had looked up at Odessa. He was surprised by what he saw. Her eyes, although not slits like felines, were giving off a slight glow, reflecting whatever little light source there was. He shook it off, there were a lot of creatures that did that not just them.

Odessa watched him for awhile. Curious about a lot of things regarding him. Did he have family? Was he born here? She thought more about his speech. His inability to talk had to be frustrating for him sometimes. Always playing a guessing game. Then, a lightbulb switched on over her head, and her eyes grew wide.
"Ash! That's the other smell. Is that what you were trying to say?" She said quickly, her voice going up in pitch with her excitement. She almost did a little dance over identifying one of his more subtle scents. Though she still hoped that she was correct.
