I watched the little family of rabbits who had taken up residence in the hole I made; and noticed how they curled around each other for warmth. A long time had passed since the 'golden one' had found me that day, and I was still subconsciously looking for that creature. And still making holes for myself to sleep in at night. Slowly, I backed up and away from the hole and out into the cold, white slush that had blanketed the ground. Chilled winds whipped around my sides and back, as if scolding me for not finding a hole yet. Quickly, I dashed away from the taken hole and towards a gnarled, dead tree a ways behind it. The area looked uninviting; a small pond had froze over under the tree, and the tree's branches looked as if they were reaching down with sharp, twisted fingers, ready to strike down anyone that approached. But the area at the foot of the tree was perfect for a hole. I started to scrape away thick slush with my feet; licking some of it up as I removed it from the ground. Now all that remained was soggy earth--easy to dig through, especially in this season. In no time, I had dug my way down and out into the earth so that I could fit my body inside; with the exception of my head, which poked out of the top.
Always, after I had made a hole, I would look out of the top of it first before burying myself completely.
The sky, which had been nothing but a bleak, gloomy colour for some time now, was moving wispy clouds past which I made out to be the sun in quite a hurry.
Deciding that enough looking had been done, I ducked my head back into the hole; but not without the barbed sticks that had sprouted from my head got caught in the dead roots dangling from the ceiling.
It was a problem I had encountered more often than not these days; having to make a bigger hole for myself. Why could I not have just stayed in the same hole, but modified it? It just seemed right to clear out the dirt in a different spot each time; making a new hole somewhere whenever I wanted to sleep felt like I was starting fresh again in the morning.
Covering up the entrance with packed dirt, then curling up into a ball on my side, I left my back facing the way I came in.
I slept; letting the warm darkness of the hole take me into a series of dreams, one after the other.

They were all the same, each one feeling like it had more importance than the one before it. The same thing always happened; I am in the middle of digging a hole in the ground and hit something hard with the bottom of my foot. I clear away the dirt bit by bit to discover the shape of that golden creature, flanks and chest all aglow, looking at me with those dark, yet seemingly omniscient eyes. Every time it would draw me to my deepest emotions, and when I awoke, I would come to the conclusion that I had to find it.
I had to find it; the only being I had seen like me since the day I first awoke.

Heh..sorry for the weird intro. I'm edj. *shuffles feet*
My eyes gobbled up the words on the screen so fast that I'm kind of embarrassed to ask if you'll be creating any more of these. xD

Thank you. I like to write

Thank you. I like to write short stories. Very short stories, like the ones you've just read. I might write [type] some more about Ahtun later.

If you were confused about his name, it is in Native American.
