tab 2
• Reddish brown and grey fur, subtly mottled. White patch on rump. Short tail. Dark eyes. Black nose, white chin. During the summer his fur is more vivid, almost a golden red. During the winter his fur is a paler, duller brown and grey, in some places almost darkening to black.
• After his antlers are shed in the winter, a new set begins to grow almost immediately.
• Barks and stomps to indicate alarm. Mooing=barking, stomp+taunt=stomp.
• Developing constantly. New experiences add on to and alter old knowledge.
• His mother, a normal, feral doe, wandered into the Forest and gave birth a few weeks later. Was promptly abandoned due to his unusual (or in his mother's mind, deformed) toes. Perhaps the magic of the forest had gotten into the fawn as he was developing inside the womb. It is as yet unknown what other effects the forest magic has had on him. Seems to be growing fast, turning out to be larger than a typical roe deer.
• Has hoofed toes like that of early horse ancestors- four toes + dewclaws.
• 'fight or flight' response.
• Easily startled, is somewhat skittish.
• Greatly driven by instinct. Feral, though can communicate both with and without words.
• Self comes first, then kin, then close not-kins.
• Not good at empathy. But better than most feral deer.
• Language skills are a little wonky. Not good with complex words. 'It is', not 'it's'.

lazy updates
- woke up, saw Ajo. aaaAAA
- ran
- ran a bit more
- hid behind people
- Nikhil and some others chased off Ajo
- hid and slept
- later, noticed another roe deer somewhat near where he was. they smelled nice
- sat a good distance away, trying to look like he wasn't staring at them but he totally was
- thennn saw Ajo sneaking around behind him. noticed he looked pretty beaten up, so he charged at him, and they left. definitely a confidence boost. maybe not as frightened now
- sat next to a gIRL; the nice smelling person he'd been staring at
- then Sloane came over, and he followed her to the ruins
Sept 4
Found Circe at the twin statues in the afternoon (after spending a long time grazing and/or sleeping in the morning), greeted her a bit nervously. 'Cause even though she'd been mostly nice before she was still an orange-stripe-bad-eats (i.e. tiger). Followed her around a bit, for whatever reason. Secret Rune reasons. Sat a good distance away from her when they reached a spot near the orange-stripe-mother's den, rested there for a while, constantly on alert for his sister.
Eventually left to go get a drink of water, also preoccupied with trying to find a trace of Stria's scent somewhere. So preoccupied, in fact, that he didn't notice a crowd of fawns and a canine predator who were standing somewhat close by. Would've walked into their midst if he hadn't heard their hoofsteps. Froze, hoping they wouldn't see him in the tall grass; even though he didn't have his fawn spots anymore it was still a strong instinct to stay put. Which ultimately didn't work, as Ajokoira noticed him and slowly approached. Rune tried acting nonchalant (which was hard) and walking slowly away from him. Don't mind me, just going for a nice little walk. Yup. Definitely not edible. Then noticed, much too late, another predator- Kynsiä- on his other side. When one of the pair lunged, he ran. Ran a lot, in fact. Was chased all over, did okay at first but eventually began to tire. Had to slow to a walk soon, which he knew was dangerous. Rule #1 of running away from bad-sharp-eats: run fast and don't get tired! Kept running/walking while Ajo and Kyns followed, sometimes close behind, sometimes at a distance, as if they were toying with him. It all became a big blur; running, walking, hiding, trying to kick them and antler them, bleating, getting bitten and antlered at times. Quite terrified at this point, knowing instinctively that if they got him down he wouldn't ever get back up. Reached the end of his stamina near the Twin Statues, tripped a lot as he tried to get away. Fell a couple times too, and was promptly bitten, stepped on, etc. Gave out after reaching the idols, though still trying to get away from the bad-sharp-eats. While Ajo sat nearby to await his demise, the Roe lay at the base of the statues, staying absolutely still. Overwhelmed by terror and pain, fading away. Though that didn't stop him from crawling very slowly to the other side of the statues to try to escape. Attracted the attention of Kyns and was bitten. Bleated and feebly kicked at them, but he was pinned down and sat on by the predator. Laid still again, kinda gave up and went limp. At least until he caught Sloane's scent on the breeze. Took a deep breath (ouch) and bleated for all he was worth. Wasn't quite sure what happened next, rather absent and hazy while Sloane ran over and fought off the bad-sharps. All he knew was that there was a lot of noise and he hurt, and there was a lot of red on his fur- like in Stone's story- and then Sloane was nudging him onto his hooves. Wanted to run away as fast and far as possible, but his body wouldn't do what he wanted it to; kept falling and having to be picked up by Sloane. Didn't know where they were going or what was going on, blindly obeying Sloane's nudging and pushing. Was unaware of when they reached the shelter of the playground boulders, of the lioness, roe, and myling defending him, or even of when the wolf picked him up by the scruff of his neck and carried him to the top of one of the rocks. Mostly unconcious at that point.
Woke up the next evening, tucked into a crevice with Sloane at his side. Though not really aware of it, hurt a lot less and there was less "red" on his fur.
Sleeping, will likely suffer from phantom pains for a few days.
tHINGS, GOTTA UPDATE
summary: - attacked and chased by two predators.
- lost, pinned down, though not dead. yet.
- rescued! /swoons/ mY HERO
June 6
Has been out of sight for the most part. Spending his time eating and lying up for long periods.
Things today. First fight! Tried to help Saosin scare away a scary wolf (Romulus), scuffled a bit but mostly hung back. Wasn't really sure what to do, stomped and barked a lot.
April 11
Emerged from where he'd been sleeping under the rock overhang at the Playground, looking a bit scruffier than usual because of his molting fur. Felt very itchy, which was annoying. How dare his own fur betray him. Rubbed against a rock to try to get the itchiness to go away. Then went off to stuff himself with blueberries.
Was grazing on some tall grass idly when he noticed Orange-stripe (Shahla) approaching. Froze, despite knowing that the tigress was a friend of Stria's. Wasn't sure about being near her when his sister wasn't around, instinctively knowing tigers had claws and teeth for a reason. But Orange-stripe just sniffed him? And wanted to sit?? Okayyy... sat down in a clump of tall grass not too far away from the tigress. Pretty much repeating a mantra of 'don'teatme,don'teatme,pleasedon'teatme..' in his head.
March 13
The world is very wet today.
Nibbled Red's ears. Shook water all over Eventide. Blughh.
somethin
anyway, Rune has returned. Pretty much a yearling, has a nice winter coat and antler nubs and everythin. more experienced than before; now that he's gotten used to being outside the forest, where there isn't really any weird magic stuff or strange and scary looking beasties, and where things usually tried to eat him, is a little more cautious and quicker to run from or threaten scary things. somewhat feral.
went to find stria first thing. STRIA WHY ARE YOU SITTING WITH A WOLF THING- wAIT hi Sloane. then a small owl not-kin suddenly appeared from thin air and he kinda freaked out until Stria shoved him toward it made him go sniff the owl not-kin. ok, sis, introductions have been made, now i will sit on you and hope that other strange deer-thing-not-kin doesn't notice me.
3/1/15
Has been outside the forest for the majority of the winter, alone for most of the time- is comfortable with a more feral life. Speckled fawn pelt has been replaced by a thick winter coat, and he's lost his antler nubs. Is doing well for his first winter, foraging for food successfully; has grown a fair amount.
11/14/14
Ventured out in the afternoon to find some blueberries. Found a nice blueberry patch near the big-rocks. Munch munch.
Found Stria! She was nearby Orange-stripe and Little-stripe (Shahla and Circe). Remembered stone's tale of the orange-and-black-thing, and knew that Orange-stripe smelled and looked similar to the beast of the story. Had to be careful, yes, very careful or Orange-stripe could eat him up. Played with Stria a lot, eventually wearing himself out. Dozed off, missed the fight that occured soon afterwards.
Woke up much later, and cuddled with his sister.
Has grown a lot, now about the typical size of an adult roe deer, though still possessing the mindset of an adolescent. Staying out of sight, learning the ways of the world. Eating, growing.
Spike antlers have shed their velvet.
9/something/14
Followed the Red around for a while, regardless if the stag wanted him tagging along or not. Expression mostly resembling this:
REDREDREDEDEDEDE..
8/28/14
Itchy, itchy head. His nubs have grown into spikes. They look pretty much like this except covered in velvet. Has taken to rubbing his spikes on rocks and trees, hoping to get rid of the itchiness. No luck yet. Scented the Red on a hill in the birch, trotted over to investigate. Snuffled at him, and returned the stag's greeting enthusiastically. Redredred. Sat and stared at him. Sorry Red.
Didn't notice Kauna's arrival at first. Too busy staring. But then greeted her by snuffling. Yes. Good.
Another doe (Erabyr) arrived after a while. Snuffled at her too. Hello. Talked a bit with the Red, learned his name was Virgil.
Then Kauna led them over to the stream. Liked the leisurely pace of the walk. When they reached the stream, immediately jumped right into the water, probably splashing Virgil. Oops. Plunged his head under the idol to see if it would stop his head-itch. Nope. Got all wet though. Went and sat on the bank to dry off. Was somewhat nervous about all the commotion caused by a bunch of namelesses and fawns, so he hid behind Red. Some more deer showed up (Unnamed doe, Eorlien), greeted them. Was quick to follow Kauna when she led everyone away from the noisy deer. Saosin visited for a while. Rested in a blueberry patch, eating some, then fell asleep. Woke later, and realized the others were gone! Found them near the ruins, jumping around and having fun. Yes, finally! Bounced around, receiving several antler spells from a fawn. Noticed the herd had moved to the pond, followed. Anndd the game crashed.
Followed the herd's scent to Red Hill, where Virgil and most of the does were.
Fell asleep.
8/16/14
Found Stria nearby where she had been the previous day. Enthusiastically bounded around, playing with her. Then noticed the many patches of blueberries close by. He knew that Stria ate a lot of berries. And she was bigger than him. Maybe if he ate blueberries he would be taller too! Proceeded to gobble berries.
8/14/14
Went to find his sister, having scented her in the birch with Indigo and Sharp-red. Upon arriving, didn't see Indi at all. Skidded to a halt, barely avoiding crashing into Sharp-red, who had lunged at Stria and driven her back. Stared at the stag, wide-eyed, before turning and galloping over to his sister. Sniffed and nuzzled her worriedly before being lifted up and tossed forward. Bleated in panic, then barked out of instinct. Made a run for it, only stopping to check for Stria when he was well away from Sharp-red-hurt. After seeing that she had made it, ran to hide in a nook between two large rocks. Licked and snuffled at his sister when she joined him.
7/26/14
Wandered the birch, and happened across three not-kins. And what not-kins they were! One was huge and brilliant red, with strange features (Saosin), another was a big, old stag (The Red). Found them quite fascinating, and just sat there, staring at them.
7/25/14
Something cold fell on his nose. Sneezed himself awake. Instantly jumped up in shock. There was white-fluff everywhere! On the ground, in the sky too! Ran in circles in the white-fluff, or rather cold-white-fluff. After several minutes of running around, still felt energetic. He wanted someone to play with. Remembered Pointy-feet, and wondered if he wanted to play. Went off to find him. He was with Small-fast-dark (Sloane) and a sharp-eat (Morioch). Though they didn't seem to be eating anything- reclassified them as Sharp-red. Bounced up to them and tried to ask if they wanted to come and play in the cold-white-fluff with him. They didn't respond. Gave up after a minute, and went to go find someone else. Found his sister with the sharp-fast-stripe family. Tried to ask her if she wanted to play, and she also didn't move. Aww. Shuffled around in the snow to try to get her attention. Did get noticed by a small-fast-stripe, and was invited to sit with them. Accepted out of politeness, but is probably fidgeting a lot. Said hi to Circe.
Finally had a chance to cuddle with Stria, but eventually just couldn't bear to sit still. Returned to stare at Pointy-feet.
Then was smothered by Stria. Played with her, then Sloane joined in too! Funfunfun.
Played for a great deal of time, before disturbing Morioch from where he was sitting. Somewhat nervous, but went up to sniff and bow at him. Then Pointy-feet finally got up. Said hello and tried to politely ask if he'd like to play with them. Exchanged bows and nods before Sharp-red lead him off. Returned to sit in a pile with Sloane and his sister. Dozed off before noticing they had moved to sit by another not-kin. Settled down there.
6/12/14
Smelled Pointy-feet off somewhere in the distance and found him huddled into the bark of a tree accompanied by another not-kin. Something was very, very wrong with one of his legs- it was twisted the wrong way. Wrong. Very wrong. Backed away instinctively, this being his first experience with a bad injury. Looked around quickly, scenting for bad-sharp-eats. Smelled them faintly, they had been nearby recently. Unsettled and vaguely frightened. Sat nearby, concealed within a patch of ferns. Then hear a familiar hoofbeat. Stone! Bleated at him and nuzzled his snout in his fur.
Practiced making funny noises with him, and learned "You" and "Rune".
Played with Stria and Sloane.
6/7/14
Found Stria sleeping in some tall grass, but was too restless to lie down. Went looking for someone to play with and met Pointy-feet and Blue-dark (Alek). Snuffled at the fawns, then bounced around, having a wonderful time. Finally some not-kins that weren't tooth-eat-bad. Hopped over logs and ran around like a maniac. Got nervous when some strangely behaving not-kins came too close, but settled down once they left. Got a bit tired out from all the play, so he sat down near Pointy-feet and Blue-dark.
5/31/14
Found Red-spot-kin with Orange-stripe (Shahla) and her cubs (Sonali, Jyoti) once more. Exchanged sniffs with the tigeress. He was getting over her predatory appearance little by little, becoming less nervous around her. Happily went over to sit by Stria before joining in the two cubs and their mother, who were playing. Then the player's game decided to crash and Rune suddenly fell asleep. ;_;
After his player got TEF running again, he continued playing with the tiger family and Stria. Eventually everyone settled down again and he sat down next to Stria. Sort of dozed off, but was awakened by Stria putting something sticky and sweet smelling on his back. Ecckk. Stood and walked in circles, trying to reach the mashed up berries, but couldn't. Oh well. Now that he was awake, he wanted to go explore. Poked at Stria. C'mon sis, let's go explore. Bounced through the grass with his sister, heading to the wet-stone (crying idol). Gulped a few mouthfuls of water, then watched as Stria stuck her head under the falling water. He wanted to try! Tried it, then remembered that he didn't like wet. Pouted a bit, then continued running around like a maniac. Splashed around in the pond, trying to get Stria wet. Ha! The mess of blueberries and poppies on his back were sort of washed away, but his fur was still stained blue. Investigated the twin statues, and was decidedly creeped out. Poked at a nearby not-kin (Hugo) who had spikey things sticking out of him. A bit unnerved by this, so he trotted off a short distance away. Eventually wound up by the ruins, and wondered if Pointy-feet was there. Found a different fawn instead, and they also didn't want to play. Snuffled at them, then settled down in a nearby stone square, snuggling with Stria.
5/28/14
Found Red-spot-kin as she ran out from her hiding place to greet him. Showered her with nuzzles and headshakes as usual, and bounced around like crazy. Played at the ruins, where he sniffed at one of the Big-littles. Played some more. Cuddled some more. Fun. Discovered that if he did certain things he could make a bright-shiny-loud (spells). At first it was a little scary, but got used to it quickly. Cast a bright-shiny at Stria. She turned blue! Laughed (more of a snort really). Then noticed her chewing up something. Red-smalls. And then was spat on. Stria. What are you doing Stria. Stria whyyyy? Made noises something like "Blleeeaaccch" and rolled over to try to get the icky-red-smalls off. Only pressed them on farther. Nooo.
Forgot all about the flowers on his back before long, and continued playing with Stria.
After numerous experiments with spells (getting his set- tired of reloading his fawn set), reached the playground. Encountered a strange-not-kin who got wayyy too close. Bleated at Red-spot before taking off into the trees. Ran a short distance, then caught up with Stria. They were followed, but upon closer inspection decided that the not-kin was alright after all. Soon they left, and he napped with Stria.
5/22/14
Found Red-spot-kin in the birch near his latest hiding spot, with a large group of not-kins, some of which he had seen before, including Orange-stripe-milk-not-kin (Shala). Was nervous when Orange-stripe approached to sniff at him. Met her little ones too, or what he assumed were her's (didn't catch your pictos). Then ran to Stria, and played with her and the other fawns for a while. Still wary of the orange not-kin, he veered away from her as they ran around, not daring to get too close yet, despite her scent of milk. Met a few more of the fawns, being around so many others was a new and intimidating experience. Explored the ruins with Red-spot and the little-not-kins, finding that his toes made climbing a bit difficult. Then Red-spot found a really big hole! Stayed behind her, reluctant to go near. Pawed curiously at the edge, but then Stria slipped and fell in. She wailed, and he made a loud noise back. Orange-stripe soon arrived, and showed Red-spot how to get out of the hole. Showered his sister in nuzzles after she got out, then sat down nearby to rest. As Stria sat down next to him, thought of sitting on top of her in revenge for her squishing her a day or two ago. But then thought that she deserved not to be squished 'cause she just fell in a deep hole. As if on cue, she stood up and sat on him. Vengeance shall be his.
Later decided to investigate a strange trio of deer (Fletcher, Mba, and Ronra), the other fawns trailing behind him. Was curious and hesitant about the cubs, they seemed newer than him, yet were bigger! This was soon forgotten, and quickly began to play with them as well as Orange-stripe's fawns and another fawn (Neela) who was exceedingly tiny. Wondered if she was sick, she was so small, but they seemed to be very energetic. Zoomed around, tripping over his own feet, in a daze of happiness, his shyness forgotten. Left behind the other fawns, and followed the little-big cubs and their guardian to the ruins, where they encountered a small fawn poking his head out of a well concealed den. Looked on as the fawn came out, and immediately noticed their feet. Was fascinated by them, they were unlike any other kin or not-kin's feet, or even his own; pointy, long, and skinny. Was simultaneously impressed and disturbed. Hung back until he decided that someone with pointy feet was safe to be around, then joined in the playing. Didn't join in the big-little cubs in trying to bop at pointy-feet, but enjoyed bouncing around and climbing the small stone walls. Accidentally tripped and fell inside the stone square where pointy-feet was, and after a moment of confusion realized he wasn't wanted there. Got scratched by pointy-feet's feet, and beat a hasty retreat, whining and snuffling. After a bit more playing, said goodbye to the big-little cubs and Fletcher, gave the cubs each an affectionate nuzzle/head shake. Then returned to the stone square to bid Pointy-feet farewell. Was shoved again, but took it better than last time.
Found a new hiding spot, and curled up to sleep.
5/20/14
Scented Red-bright-milk and Red-spot-kin, and immediately scampered over to them from his hiding spot in the birch. Found them at a place he hadn't seen before- a place with a rushing sound, and a rock gushing water. Found the wet-rock somewhat disturbing, but ignored it and went straight to Heartstring. After being cleaned up and fed, plopped down next to his sister. Or rather, sisters. Hadn't noticed Khuna, and, after a moment of confusion, recognized her again. Accepted her presence, and pretty much forgot she'd been gone in the first place. Exchanged face-nibbles with Stria before being squished underneath her. Omph! Didn't really mind though.
After some resting, joined his sister and another fawn in play, and crossed the stream to investigate a big blue-not-kin. Grew tired quickly, and curled up to sleep.
5/14/14
Woke up in the late afternoon, to find that the world was no longer wet. Hooray! Scented Red-spot-kin a distance away, and found her with a few other Not-kins. One smelled of milk, and was colored somewhat like Red-bright-kin. Greeted Red-spot and romped around. Found that he was getting better at running without falling over or tripping over things with his toes. Upon Not-kin-milk coming closer and sniffing him, evaluated them from a distance. Though the doe had semi-familiar patterning, was instinctively wary of them, as something about them seemed bad-eat-chase. Couldn't say no to milk though, and accepted her presence. Goofed around with Red-Spot a bit more, learned a few new gestures from watching her and others. Ran away from a not-kin who kept running at him suddenly, before settling down as he realized they weren't much of a threat. Eventually fell asleep (player had to take a shower).
4/28/14
Wetness dropped onto his head. Plop. Sneezed himself awake, and felt the tapping sensation of more wet. Wiggled around, trying to see what was tapping him. Found only wetness. Then tried to hide from the wetness. Lay in the grass, now slick with rain. Wet. Rolled over. Wet. Ran away. Wet, wet, wet. Noooooo. Not at all used to this new kind of wetness, no sir. Scents were faded, masked, blurred. The wet-noise overwhelmed him, washing the world of the quiet sounds that were normally heard. Fled from all the wetness, eventually found Brown-stone and Red-spot-kin. Happily, they were not as wet as the world. Buried himself in their fur, becoming warm once more. Told Brown to make the wetness go away, communicating his desire in an undecipherable noise. Of course the stag wasn't able to do that, and didn't understand the fawn's babble, so his request went unfulfilled. Not long afterwards he noticed a small, green thing (a frog) nearby. It was very still, and so was classified as a 'Green-stone'. Nudged at it with a toed hoof. It jumped! It became known as a 'hopper'. The hopper didn't move after that, even when he poked it once more. Lost interest, and again realized how wet the world was. Returned to the shelter of Brown and Red. Simply sat with his herd-kin and listened to the wet-noise. Drifted off to sleep.
4/12/14
Very hungry. Huddled with Red-spot-kin (Stria) in the blue-sweet-smell (The blue bowl). Became restless and played with her, hopping around in the tall grass and becoming stained with berry juice. Wandered outside the blue-sweet-smell as they played, and found some hard-grey-rounds (rocks). Tested them with Red-spot, smelling them, licking them, climbing them and finally jumping over them. Ended up at a new place, with giant hard-grey-rounds (the playground). Jumped all over the rocks along with Red-spot, exploring the crevices and cracks in them. Eventually Brown-shape appeared (or, now that his vision has improved, thinks of him more as Brown-stone). Nuzzled at him, greeting him with an enthusiastic 'bruhhugh'. And then Red-bright-milk appeared! Nuzzled into her fur immediately, and guzzled down milk. Got the hiccups from drinking too fast. After filling his stomach until practically bursting, followed Red-bright and Brown-stone to stand on a rock, where the adults sat and rested. Noticed Red-spot climbing a nearby rock. Hey, lemme try! Climbed to the top before her, but was less enthusiastic about climbing down. Nestled into Red-bright and Brown-stone's sides, curled up between them with Red-spot.

Mostly in it to socialize, especially with roe deer since he hasn't actually spent much time with his own kind before. Likely to hang out with his sister also, and try to help her out. Try.
I love.
