Pan was just warding him off those couple of times, to prevent him having a run-in with Thane, since she's noticed he seems to be a friend of her old family. He's a sweetiepie.

"Getting tired of your stunts. I'm not in the profession of saving instigators from needless fights anymore, and I'd rather not waste my time preventing them either." bluntly put, but coming from a place of genuine concern. A fair warning always seemed to get it's point across more easily than words of advice. "Don't expect me to have your back if you keep it up."

"Good." In an ear-flick, all seriousness returns. "You're staying safe, then? Keeping your sister and yourself out of trouble?"

"That's a boy. Then she will mostly be protected should somebody try to do her harm." The exaggerated word not given without a small amount of sarcasm, even a stern look from the older deer. "You must choose your battles wisely from here on, Rossamund. I hope you bear that in mind."

"I know you will." Her tone a little less severe, now, ears relaxing into a neutral position. The boy was loyal to his family above all else, a true son of Phaios. She shifted to peer at him around her mask. "Sometimes, that's all it takes."

The Kudu lowered her head, resting her chin atop his shoulder for a moment. "I know, and I believe your mother does as well. She's got to be very proud of you." Her eyes close. "Believe me, Rossamund, she has bigger things in store for you than petty fights."

Jo smiles despite herself. "I wasn't fighting Xetkal, so I appreciate your reconsidering your approach." She lifts her head then and gives a curt nod, eyeing the buck. "Don't beat yourself up over it, all right? Bygones. A little more discipline and a couple of sparring lessons down the road, and I'll be lucky to call you an ally."

A pause, and she corrects herself. "Or Thane, whatever name you wish to call him he assuredly isn't worth the breath it takes to say it." Her tone is dismissive if not somewhat bland, though it softens when she speaks again, meeting the boy's gaze. "Me, too. Do you know my sister, Henna?"

Jo tilts her chin at him curiously. "Tan fur, average height, muscles, big antlers...?" She prods further, before realizing. They really couldn't be more different looking. "We're not blood," she clears her throat. "--damn good fighter, though, and she could use some more excitement in her life, frankly. She wears candles in her tines as well as a necklace similar to mine." She gestures to the white God's charm hanging from her neck, then looks steadily back up at Rossamund. "She knows about you. Just so you know. Pica and you have another ally out there."
