This is my attempt to make myself work on my background painting skills, something I really wish I was better at. I’ve been tossing around the idea in my mind for some time of a “reimagining” of what some of the different locations in the forest could look like on a “grander” scale. So my skills don’t nearly match my imaginings but here is…the Crying Idol and the River.
Edit: Added the Old Oak.
Edit 2: The Twin Gods Hill
An alternate,
with Pteranodon's because doves are boring.
Edit 3: "Reed's Logs"
These are both very
Sight, these are both so
In both of them the poppies have such a beautiful scarlet color. The storybook style of these is just breathtaking. I can definitely imagine the Crying Idol to be this size and how beautiful it must be. You really captured these places well and made them seem even more beautiful. I could see these in a TEF children's book.
I really hope you keep going with these and show more portions of the forest this way.
[edit for Old Oak]
THAT has to be how big I imagine. Just a massive tree like the Giant Sequoya "General Sherman" in California. So big you can stuff every deer of TEF inside. Again, like all the others, I find this piece gorgeous and definitely applaud the style and choice in colors.
The atmosphere is amazing! I

parrotsnpineapple: Thank you very much, Kate, I appreciate it. Okay, working in a freer, less controlled manner is good. Gotcha. I’ll try ;_; These are fun though, I’m enjoying the process.
GlobalBeauty: I love and admire children’s storybook art so having this compared to that and received so well is very encouraging for me. Plus it’s just fun. Thanks for the lovely comment.
Wake: Thank you! I always look at the forest and imagine it “more.” It’s a very fun topic to explore as well.
Dinamo: Haha thanks, huge Crying Idol is a definite hit it seems.
Honeyfur: Thank you! I always thought that it was probably like sitting at the foot of a water fall near the crying idol, with water spray hanging in the air and everything is just very green and lush.
Lung: Thank you! Yes, I’ve always loved sitting near the Crying Idol, it’s such a lively, vivacious atmosphere.
