A petite doe was trotting through the forest, on her daily rounds of re-blooming and comforting the flowers. She stopped for a moment and knelt down beside a drooping flower. It was slowly withering, the tips of its petals and stem were brown. She took in a deep breath, and exhaled over the flower. Once her breath touched the flower, it instantaneously bloomed again, livening bright colors. Then she bloomed another flower beside it to keep it company. No one ever likes to be alone...

Satisfied with her work, she stood up again and looked around. There was a sleeping nameless in the Birch... oh, there comes a fawn. But in the distance, her golden orb-like eyes caught sight of someone, not a nameless or a fawn. In curiousity, she trotted forward to approach the being.

Okay, here we go. And eh, my bold leaked onto the responses...oh well.

Auni rested against a tree, more or less content to have the tree at his back. Now, especially, he didn't like having his back exposed to where just anyone could walk up on him. Not with Jester around all the time. Granted, her interest was on Phoenix at the moment. He felt a shiver of sympathy for the poor bird doe, but it quickly passed. She was strong enough to handle her own, mentally and physically. Sooner or later Jester would notice Auni's sorrows bleeding off of him. But for now, he was content enough to fight with his own demons. He glowered at the ground a few feet away, where the snake was watching him. Kascane had taught him to ignore the visions, that they weren't real, that they wouldn't bring harm if he didn't believe it. But he did believe it, he believed it right down to the core of his being. He lowered his head, snorting and eyeing the snake, almost daring it to lunge at him. His folded legs twitched at the thought of stamping its body into the ground and hearing its invisible bones break.

*Aha! Found the pesky bold that didn't have a slash at the end...*

Auni started, his pelt flashing fear before it changed into dots; distress. He swung his head around, momentarily forgetting the snake in his fear as he looked over for the voice, finding a doe standing a few feet away. Distress went back to stripes as he watched her, noting her unease.

He allowed several moments of dead air to fall between them before responding gently enough, "Hello."

"Auni," the stag replied, glancing over at her, " What is your name?" he felt compelled to continue the conversation. He tilted his head toward the snake, feeling himself freeze into place. It was moving.

"Surely you have a name..." he motioned in the direction of the snake, "I...I...see things that don't exist," he stopped short cursing himself mentally for being so open about it. Others didn't like that normally, they shy from the weird or unexplained. He glanced away, almost ashamed.

Auni nodded, before feeling compelled again to continue and tossed his head in the direction of the vision, "This one is a snake, and a poisonous one, at that."

Auni's eyes widened, his pelt shifting into squiggily lines, "Don't...don't step on it. It could bite you!"

Auni winced. In his mind's eye he saw the snake hiss and coil up, the little head poised on the doe's foreleg. He launched himself to his feet, lunging at the snake. Within a couple of strides he attempted to shoulder the doe out of the way, terrified at the thought of her being bitten. He then stamped the snake into the ground, gouging the dirt with his odd crown as he tried to take off the animal's head.

Auni shied away from her, half leaping, half trotting away from her, the whites of his eyes showing, " I told you it was going to bite you!" he exclaimed.

"How could it be happy? It's just a flower." he muttered gloomily, lowering himself to the ground. She didn't look hurt, but then again, it hadn't bitten before he had killed the snake.

Everything has feeling? Auni watched her, confused. If a plant had emotions, then how come he couldn't feel them? He suppressed a shudder at the thought of tapping into plant emotions. They outnumbered deer, he'd be even more of a wreck if he felt that too. Irritably he tossed his crown, "Doesn't that...get annoying?"

Auni nodded. "So, you don't hear them, so to speak, you just have an idea of what their mood is." It wasn't so much a question as he was clarifying what she said. He could understand the basic idea behind it, in a way it was similar to how he picked up others emotions, or shared a happier emotion with another. Yet at the same time, it was different. He couldn't feel others emotions at will, he had to be in the same general area. Even then, he had to have an open mind to accept it.

Auni fell silent at her question, before deciding to attempt to explain. He opened his mouth to speak, before glancing up at the caw of a crow. Another one. Of course, when one disappeared another appeared at random. He gave a slight shake of his head, sighing, "I don't know. I mean, it was never fully explained to me why I see them. They're just there, have been as far back as I remember. I use to think others saw them too." he lapsed into silence for several moments, staring at the ground below his feet. "But they never did, or do. Over the years, my demons start to stay around longer, and they grow more aggressive...I guess you can see now why I fear them," his expression turned somber as he reached the end of his sentence.

Auni bobbed his head, "The snake...and a crow, a demonic doe who only appears during thunderstorms, in fog or in nightmares...there are a couple of others too, but those are the main ones."

Auni looked at her a moment, before wordlessly following her command. He stumbled to his feet and started after her, giving the crow in the tree a glare as he walked past.

The stag stared at the oak tree, "This'll take away nightmares?" he was genuinely interested, "How?" Could it take away visions to? Would it fix whatever was wrong with him?

Auni stared at the tree. Peace? It was a word he rarely associated with himself. But sleeping... he eyed the other deer nervously. What about them? With a shake of his crown he stalked over to the roots of the tree, finding a spot that was relatively comfortable, before setting himself down there. He tipped his head at her, "Why do you want to help me?"

"I...I'm sorry, I'm not use to anyone being nice to me," he paused, thoughtful, " Thank you...Thank you, I will remember your kindness."

Auni dipped his head in greeting, "Hello." The stag watched her warily, uncertain as to what to expect. His pelt shifted, not knowing which emotion to portray.

The young stag tilted his head, and then nodded. "I believe you."

The stag looked up from watching the bird. Family? He shook his head, " No, I don't. I have bunch of wackjob herdmates, but no family."

" I'm sorry to hear that. At least you're not completely alone," the stag murmured sympathetically. He glanced in the direction of the Oak Guardian before turning his attention back to the other doe, " I don't know where I came from, nor does it concern me. I just expect to live out my life until someone grows tired enough of me to end it for me." The stag glanced away, his attention drawn to a crow perched in one of the nearby branches. He tensed, his usual stripes starting to darken, only to relax when he realized that the crow wasn't wispy and didn't have a skull head, so it was real. It laughed once before taking wing. He sucked in a breath, "At least you still have family here." He thought back to his herd of misfits. They were all freaks in their own special way.
"Oh, there you are Auni! Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't expecting you to have...company." A bird doe paused midstep, her gaze traveling over the two does. She tilted her head at the pair, "Hello there! I'm Phoenix!"

Hope you don't mind, I just had to drag her into this. Haha.

Lol okay good, and there will be some annoying herd dynamics...Sorry, think of it this way, you will now know about 98% of my other deer. This will come back and be a question for you. And yes, they are actually friends...more of the bickering sort at the moment.

Phoenix looked up at the crow before turning her attention over the group, landing on Auni, "Oh my gosh, has Auni gotten to you too? Auni. crows can't talk you crazy flea bag!"
"You know as well as I do they very well could! Look at Jester." the stag shot back.
"Jester's a freak of nature, in case you haven't noticed!" She snorted shaking her head cutting off the stag's retort, "Hello ZiraBay. I'm over here, and I just came to check up on this fella. Kerwin told me he wandered off, and well...Jester wasn't around. I thought she might have him cornered up in some hole in the wall somewhere."
"I can watch myself."
The doe's crest rose and she fanned her wings making her appear threatening, "Yeah, right. You can watch yourself? Auni you can barely walk straight let alone watch yourself. Kerwin watches himself better, and he's the one who will run headlong into a tree and barely notice."
The stag snorted, "I'm fine on my own, I don't need you watching me like a shadow."
"Yeah, you do. Between Alabaster being all angsty-"
"He's sick, in case you haven't noticed. Why aren't you there with him?"
"-and Jester being a freak...well why aren't you there with him, huh?"
"Zash and Kerwin are taking care of him quite well. They don't need me." The doe sighed, defeated. Her wings and crest drooped.
"Of course they don't..." she muttered quietly. Her mood brightened, "So...what attracted you ladies to Mr. Pessimist over here? And what is your name?" she looked pointedly at the Oak Guardian.

"Wonderfully bizarre... now there's a good way to put it. I should inform Jester that she's that...it'd be good for a laugh." The bird doe murmured, before raising and lowering her crest as she glanced over at the Oak Guardian, "Pleasure meeting you."
"I was told that this place would get rid of nightmares..." Auni exclaimed to Phoenix. She watched him, seeing something flash across his eyes. Hope? Happiness? Whatever it was it was an emotion he didn't accept, or know of. She felt pity flare in her heart.
"Is that so?" she questioned softly.
