Baha, she comes more out of her shell with other deer when Sthenelus is around because she feels much safer with him, that's why she's always so outgoing with other deer around him..! But when she's alone she pretty much flips out |D
~
The doe's mouth with into an o, and she let out a fake sigh of frustration, which didn't sound quite real after her giggle at the end.
"Yeah, you better run!" she shouted as she took a leap off the stump and ran forward. The flow of excitement and determination only pushed her forward to try and tag the stag back. "But knowing your moves, Kluts, you're going to accidenly trip yourself!" she continued to shout as her hooves made quick, small beats into the ground.
He pushed on nonetheless, deciding not to go easy on the doe and fueled by a determination not to trip. Practically slobbering with enthusiasm, the buck propelled himself forth with unimpressive speed, but speed nonetheless. "Trip? Surely not! Crash? Probably," he called back over his shoulder, an eager grin planted on his face as he wove in and out of trees, bushes, and other miscellaneous foliage.
You'll never gain that dream with me around!! >;D
~
A grin came over Alli noticing the stag pushing himself, he'd surely soon run out of stamina. She, on the other hand, was used to pain, and could easily block it out of her mind. At least one good thing came out of being abused..right?
She let out a chuckle at his buck and his words, taking a deep breath in and shouting out, "I'll soon be the laughing one!" and continuing her tiny hoof beats, ignoring the growing pain in her legs. Think safe, think healing, think away. she spoke in her mind, a way to carry her mind else-ware.
I just use this CSS from Unplugged. If you need a few things explained, feel free to ask! (: I'll get back to you ASAP, but I'm going to bed right now, 'night!
He tried, yes, but the bulk of his body soon made his leg grow weary. His speed began to decrease dramatically, split hooves impaling patches of hyacinths and Lillie's with little force. The scent of rain that usually emanated from the stag was now clotted with the stench of sweat. Laughing, the length of his stride slackened to a lame, slow trot that he continued with anyways, intent on teasing the little doe. "Catch me if you can!"
The doe sped up now, seeing the male slow down. A smile on her face as she appeared by his side, her eyes gleaming up at him. "Caught ya, give up?" she asked, cocking an eyebrow up. She sped up a little more so she was now galloping in front of him, slowing her pace which forced him to do as well.
Her tail flicked up and down quickly, and her ears were pinned back; listening to see if he'd try to swerve a different way so he wasn't forced to stop.
Had he weighted about a hundred pounds less, been equipped with a shorter rack of antlers, and lacked so much body hair - he just may have one. Unfortunately, overall build took him out of this race. "Give up? Not in my lifetime," smiling, the big stag continued at a pace he could consistently manage - a rather slow jog that drained him nonetheless - before turning back 'round the stump, not bothering to alert the doe. It was all about surprise!
The doe let out a chuckle at his words, only realizing he had turned the other way after she went on trotting slowly for a few moments. She halted in her tracks and whirled around, galloping once again after the stag. She let out little huffs with each gallop, still ignoring the ever growing pain in her legs. "You should just be sorry I can't tackle you!" she shouted after him, her tiny legs giving her taps once more.
She slowed her pace to a halt as she watched the stag her breath coming still coming out in huffs. She let out a small grunt before she stretched her muscles slowly. She rolled over onto her back, giving up on the chase, wondering how long he would trot until he realized she was on her back in a random pile of tulips. She let out a soft sigh as she looked up at the sky of the Forest.
He paraded about for a good two minutes, busy with complex turns and bends around trees; legs carefully lifting over rocks and stray twigs.
Until he realized she was laying, comfortably, in a patch of flowers.
Spinning on his heel, and practically gasping for air, he walked to the doe. Her eyes were entranced by floating puffs of white, the clouds looming over the expanse of the trees. Quietly, he settled down and stretched out beside her, rolling to his back as well. "Have you ever considered what's beyond the Forest?" he asked softly.
"Yes and no." she said as the male took his place beside her, her ears twitching towards him as he spoke. "I think greatly of the human world, and I know that's outside of the Forest, but I haven't really considered anything like that." she watched a fluffy white cloud make its way slowly across the sky, letting out a sigh. "Other than that, not really." she looked over to the stag. "How about you?"
He turned to look at her, a mystical glaze over his golden orbs. The stag tilted his head curiously, ears perkily taking in every word she spoke. "I haven't until just now," he responded slowly. "I've never really thought about it." The brute shrugged, his grey shoulders flexing in the flowers. "But, taking my past life into account, I'd say this place is much better..." he paused. "From what I can remember, anyways."

The doe turned onto her side, watching the stag curiously. "What were you before you were a deer?" she asked, tilting her head to the side.
She stood up and walked over to him, curling into a ball next to the stag. She stifled a yawn, now beginning to feel tired from all the running they had done. She kept her eyes on the stag, though, still full of curiosity. She would probably share more of her story with him, now that she trusted him more, but she wasn't interested in digging up those memories at the moment.
Sthenelus looked at her evenly, all bits of humor subtracted from his facade. He wasn't angry, he was actually quite intrigued by her desire to know. "I... I'm not sure. Not human," his voice spat the last word. "I'd be ashamed if I were human. But I do remember some things," the stag took a deep breath. "I was in a laboratory, and things went... I don't know, wrong, I suppose? Anyways, I died." He shrugged, realizing a bit too late that she hadn't asked for the entirety of his past life.

The doe nodded quietly as she listened to his words, noting the hostility in his tone when he talked of humans. She sat her head on his side, letting out a small sigh.
"Maybe you'll remember the other bits and pieces later." she told him, optimistically, a small nudge into his side.
Her ears twitched slightly as she let her big brown eyes rest on the stag for a moment, just thinking in her head random things.
He looked at her rather sadly, his head bobbing in a small, short nod. "I can't decide if I want to remember or not. What's the point in it, after all? This life is happy without memories." Sthenelus let his jaws part in a yawn, a weird sight for a deer, and allowed his head to droop to the soft bed of flowers. "Were you born into the forest, Allison? Or did you die, too?" He asked slowly.
@Torn
The doe felt a shiver roll down her spine thinking back to her past life, huddling closer to be stag. "I died into this life, I just wish I knew how I died." she shook her head slightly, burying her face into his fur letting out a sigh. "I have a strange feeling in my gut that I did something to really get him mad, and so my punishment was death." she felt a shiver roll down her body only imagining the things he could've done to her that she didn't remember...but all that was her fault, she shouldn't have upset him the way she had done.

Sthenelus bit his lip then, drawing slightly away from the doe. "Allison, can I tell you a secret?"
Alli smile at his nuzzle on her head, her neck arching from it. She nuzzled her face into his fur, already forgetting her past once more. Her ears pressed forward comfortably, relaxing into his fur.
She raises her head as he shifted away from her, curious of the stag's sudden change of mood. She let her big, dark eyes watch him. "Sure, anything." she said, cocking her head to the side, confused.

He thought for a moment, vaguely considering the probability that she could one: fear him, or two: accept him. Sthenelus prayed for the latter. "My name's... not Sthenelus," he began slowly, regarding the doe cautiously. "It's Schism. Sthenelus is - me, I guess. But not me. He's a raven version of me." The stag shrugged slowly. "It's some kind of counter effect of being reborn. The Gods told me my soul found the nearest body they could. A fawn. That fawn's.. soul, I suppose, took the form of a raven and I took its place as a deer. Then I just kind of grew up, right on the spot." He'd not told a soul before.
@Torn
The doe was slightly confused by his words, but nodded slowly, understanding the gist of it all. She leaned closer to the stag, laying on his side once more. "What you did in the past, is in the past." she whispered slowly to the stag, nuzzling into his fur. "All I know is that now, you are the kindest soul in the whole entire world that I know." she spoke slowly, looking back up to him.
The buck registered this slowly, his mind reeling with defiance. It wasn't in the past - Sthenelus was still him, the two of them were together still. Would be forever. He'd taken a fawn's chance at life so he could redo his - it was disgusting. "How can you be so sure?" He wondered allowed, leaning into the little doe's embrace, staring absently into the sky.
The doe watched him, her eyes full of sorrow for him. She nuzzled his fur once more, trying to give him as much reassurance as she could. She took in a deep breath, exhaling slowly. "Well, you are the first male-being that I'm comfortable around; that hasn't hit me or knocked me down mentally. You are the exact opposite of that, you made me feel welcome here, when I was so scared that he would find me and..." she let her voice trail off, leaning into the stag. "I'm sure I'm not the only soul you've welcomed here." she let out a sigh, waiting for the stag to reply before continuing on.

"I guess I just like being nice," turning his head to her, he smiled.

The doe nodded at him, her tail giving a flick. She rolled to her side and gave a mischievous smile at he stag, setting her hooves on his stomach. He grinned broadly, though rethinking the whole idea of standing up. It certainly hadn't been his brightest, as he had no idea how to lay back down without her toppling to the ground. "I'm not really sure," he began, a note of laughter in this voice. "I guess the benefits outweigh the clumsiness." Laughing, he very, very gently let his knees sink to the earth, followed almost in sync by his hind. It was a rather painful process, seeing as his body was meant to fall one side at a time, but he didn't quite feel like sacrificing her to a few bruises from a nasty fall.
"Yeah," Alli agreed, "I guess it is a good thing your so big, if you weren't you probably wouldn't be called Klutz." she added, mocking a frown.
She let out a squeal as he lowered, feeling like she was a fawn. She burried her face into his neck fur, clinging tighter to him. She gave a giggle, he was going incredibly slow but it still felt thrilling to her.
He laughed loudly as she squealed and wriggled closer to his nape, head burrowing into the depths of his fur. Grinning as he settled to the earth, he turned to look at her. "And it's a good thing you're so small, I wouldn't be able to call you a wuss then," he teased lightly, his eyes glittering with laughter.
Alli let out a mock gasp, lifting her head quickly from his fur. She nudged him with one of her hooves, before digging her head into his fur again and sliding down his neck and onto the ground.
