INTRODUCTION
A doe known to cause trouble wherever she goes, be it directly or indirectly. From the first day she stepped foot in the forest, Saxophone has been set on a very rocky path, driven by her destructive nature which carries from one world to the next. She does not seem to have a place where she can be safe, and as a result comes across as a paranoid, aggressive creature. Although she can be friendly, even playful, towards others, her pride often gets in the way and as a result she finds it very difficult to make friends. Her attempts at redemption are often short-lived, be it through her own actions or due to events outwith her control. Saxophone's history and even her current life are not pretty, and she is very much aware of this, telling very little about herself when asked. Emotions are not something she deals with very easily and are likely to make her lash out.
"No.9? She's...well, yeah, her methods are different. She gets the job done, though, doesn't she? Can't deny she's one of the best the Initiative have ever had. I know she causes us some trouble but--I mean, she's controlled more containment breaches than I can even count. She almost single-handedly prevented a zombie outbreak, doesn't she get some credit for that?" - Agent No.5
IDENTIFICATION
REAL NAME is confidential and unlikely to be revealed to anyone outside of the Initiative. False names are used in the otherworld, varying depending on the desired disguise or impression towards others. Has been known to use 'Jane Doe' in the otherworld as a joke between herself and Agent No.5.
OFFICIAL ALIAS is Saxophone, usually shortened to Sax, particularly in the human world where the former would be regarded as unusual and likely ridiculed. Within the Initiative she is known as Agent No.9 or other variations of this. Her signature on legal documents within the otherworld usually takes the form of '9' or a similar variant.
NICKNAMES are not a common occurance in the doe's life - pleasant ones, at least. She has however been called various unpleasant things by both otherworld and forest inhabitants; examples include troublemaker, cow, bitch, grey-doe, traitor and murderer. Such name-calling does not appear to bother Agent No.9 in any way; it seems to amuse her above all else.
FOREST NAME was manufactured by the Initiative and 'imprinted' onto the agent before her entry into the forest. Essentially it is not a true pictogram and this may be the cause for the missing piece of it; the curved line crossing horizontally through it does not appear in the forest. An inscription of the original pictogram can be found here.
"How am I supposed to know why it didn't work? Ask the guys down in tech why it didn't fucking work, I'm not a sorcerer, I didn't do the imprinting and I didn't fuckin' design the thing either. It's probably a sign from the forest gods that you shouldn't try and manufacture the names they made, god damn." - Agent No.5
COMMUNICATION
Vocally, it is not difficult to identify the doe. Her voice has a distinctly gritty edge to it and is slightly lower than the average female's, often dipping into a quiet growl when she is angered. Accent-wise one might think she was originally from somewhere in Southern America, as she does have a mild Southern twang laced into a diluted-American accent - this is not the case, however, and her accent is derived from various influences in the area of the otherworld she was raised in.
Unlike many other agents in her workplace, Saxophone is capable of speaking only English, exhibiting a strong distaste for learning any other language, be it human or otherworldly. Naturally in her home world this limits her ability to communicate with non-English speakers, of which there are many, and presents frequent difficulties when attempting to reason or converse with work-related targets if there is no translator available.
Her handwriting is presented as an untidy scrawl, although it does not slant left or write right. She does not use cursive and as a result her writing tends to look like 'chicken scratch', messy and rushed. Saxophone is right-handed, but if a situation arose in the forest where visual communication was needed, it is likely she would use both hooves to try and scratch letters into a viable surface. If given a choice of ink colour, she would choose 'cadet blue'.
"I admit, she's more action than talk; her bite is a hell of a lot worse than her bark, sure. Sometimes she needs taking down a peg or two, but...really, d'you think punishing her will ever make a difference? She'll either crush your skull for it or she'll find another way to screw you over. You've read her file. Do you want that kind of trouble on your hands? Trust me, it's better that she acts rather than talks. You don't want to be around when she starts thinking of other ways to get at you." - Agent No.5
ORIGINS
In the terms of the otherworld, Agent No.9 is not a conventional human being. She was not born from a true mother and father; rather she was scientifically manufactured in the Initiative's eastern laboratories, referred to as a 'Beta human'. Her purpose therefore has always been to work with the Initiative, and no other choice has ever been presented to her. Due to being created scientifically she is immune to most diseases present in the otherworld, however there are certain ailments in the human world that she has not been immunized to. Her appearance is unnatural and pre-manufactured in both her humanoid form and her deer form. Saxophone is also infertile due to complications that arose during her creation, but this is one of the few facts she is unaware of as of yet.
Saxophone was originally created with no real purpose in mind, hence why her appearance is extremely unfitting for one who wishes to blend in with the world and go unnoticed. As a child being raised by agents of the Initiative she frequently experienced periods of severe loneliness and was somewhat socially excluded from other to-be agents her age. It was originally thought that she would become a technician or perhaps a surgeon within the Initiative, but studies later proved that although possibly suited to such work, Saxophone had a unique understanding of manipulation and psychology, as well as being well-versed in the ways of violence by the time she reached the age of fourteen.
The agent was schooled from the age of 5 to the age of 20, though given her training's commencement at age 15, her success and focus in studies declined greatly during the last five years. She was originally trained as an average soldier and later progressed through various other promotions until finally being classed as an assassin age 23. In recent years she has expressed extreme desires to leave the Initiative, but has not as of yet attempted any escapes. Should the agent find a way to conceal herself from the Initiative eye, extreme measures must be taken to recapture her, preferably alive. Initiative security may be compromised if this agent escapes, which is a risk that cannot be taken.
"It doesn't matter how many times you tell me there's no way she'll escape. I know this girl. If she wants out, she'll find a way to get out. She wouldn't hesitate to take on every last one of you if she thought there was a chance that she'd be free afterwards. Call her stupid, call her reckless - I don't give a shit. She's got something the other Beta types don't - a chance at getting out alive." - Agent No.5
VISUAL
In her humanoid form, Agent No.9 is best described as a woman of average height, with a lean, athletic build obviously meant for speed rather than strength. She is known to be capable of running very long distances, outmatching many other agents in the field, but requires long periods of rest afterwards, which often poses a problem to her. Her most noticeable feature is the spiky, scruffy white hair that grows atop her head, kept short and out of her eyes. Saxophone's facial features are sharp, angular and somewhat wicked, and though she is not strikingly pleasant to the eyes she is not entirely loathsome to behold. Despite her pale complexion and white hair - including eyebrows and eyelashes - she is not an albino, as proved by the golden hue of her irises.
Her cervine form was supposedly pre-manufactured by Initiative technicians, however it is recorded that there were some difficulties in changing the agent's pelt colour to something less striking. Saxophone retains her athletic build, and is of average height for a doe, if not slightly taller due to long legs. Her fur is a stark white, short and somewhat scruffy. Sharp horns sprout from her skull and may be seen either pink or black depending on the forest's magic. They are incredibly thorny and likely to cause severe damage if stabbed into flesh. Saxophone does not usually possess a mask, but may be seen wearing what is known as the 'Secretary Bird' mask in common forest terms.
"It's kind of ironic, the fact that she's an assassin yet she sticks out like a sore thumb in a crowd. Hey, hey, I know, she was meant to be a technician or whatever the hell - but still, white hair? Kind of stupid if you ask me, regardless of what job she was meant for." - Agent No.5
BEHAVIOUR
Saxophone has gained a strong reputation for being someone that should not be approached unless absoloutely necessary. She is regarded as highly dangerous to know, and as a result finds herself alone for the majority of her days. The Initiative has been able to put her lack of strong morals and desires for monetary gain to good use, but often finds that No.9's anti-authority nature and destructive desire for freedom conflict greatly with the former two traits. It is advisable that lesser agents do not attempt to provoke Agent No.9 in any way unless they wish to, in Agent No.9's own words, 'have their ass handed to them'.
Along with a naturally selfish nature, the agent displays a great deal of pride which often hinders her ability to reconcile with others and/or redeem herself for her past wrongdoings. She expresses great discomfort when pressed to reveal emotion; the Initiative's monthly psychological evaluations disturb her greatly and seem to aggravate her greatly, which has led to various incidents that need not be recalled. When exposed to the heightened emotions of other sentient beings, Saxophone seems to be uncomfortable but will occassionally make attempts at helping the creature in question to relax and calm down.
No.9's talent for causing trouble wherever she goes has led some agents to believe that she is cursed in some way; this is not the case, although her frequent troublemaking is curious in that it is usually accidental, and often leads to other issues being caused, though the latter do not usually affect Saxophone herself. As of yet she has yet to be seen forming a positive relationship that does not hinder either herself or the other party in some way, though she exhibits a much more pleasant side around those she claims to care for.
Saxophone has shown herself to be fiercely protective of her 'loved' ones, although given the doe's intellect and manipulative tendencies it is not always clear if these feelings are genuine, or another attempt to manipulate others into believing she is a more pious creature than she is. Such actions have led some to believe that she does feel extreme guilt for the murders and other sins she has committed and wishes to be seen in a better light by others, as she cannot ever see herself in such a way.
"It's obvious to anyone with a brain that she's not what she seems. She paints herself two ways - black, and white. But the thing is, she's neither. She's grey, she's always been grey and she'll always be grey. I don't think there's much point in tryin' to analyze why she acts the way she acts. Maybe she wants to be hated, but I've seen things that'd prove that wrong in an instant." - Agent No.5
FEARS
Agent No.9 seems to percieve herself as fearless, perhaps even immune to the dangers that can affect every other living creature, and admittedly her actions and words have helped to prove that point over time. However, it is not always clear if she is fearless and brave, or simply reckless and foolish, and upon observing the agent it is easy to see that there are some things she does fear, or at least avoid.
A commonly-expressed fear seems to be physical intimacy between herself and men that she does not trust, or men she considers to be an enemy of some kind. It is one of the few things that will cause her to openly express discomfort and fear infront of others, and results in either aggression or an attempt at escape. It is possible that this fear - which has manifested itself all throughout No.9's life - has been intensified by CLASSIFIED DATA attempts at advancing on the agent.
Saxophone has admitted during psychological evaluations to having a mild fear of the sound of running water. This, she claims, started to manifest itself after CLASSIFIED DATA, which was prevented by No.5's arrival on the scene. Although she remains undisturbed by the presence of large bodies of water, the sound of it running unnerves her and 'makes her feel very trapped', although testing has proved that whilst deaf, watching water running does not bother the agent much, if at all. In the forest she seems to avoid the only source of running water, and drinks from the pond when she must - but tends to approach in the opposite direction of the river.
The agent has shown distinct distaste for graveyards for a few years now. She has refused to reveal precisely why she dislikes graveyards and tends to become agitated and restless when asked. It is likely that graves remind her of the work she does, and may trigger feelings of guilt and regret. However, it has been heavily implied by CLASSIFIED DATA that there is a much more personal reason for No.9's dislike of graveyards. Forced attempts at withdrawing the information from Saxophone have been unsuccessful.
"It's not my place to tell you bastards what she's scared of, and I reckon I'm right when I say it ain't no business of yours to ask. Why would you wanna know, anyway? So you can try and unhinge her some more? If she's scared of anything, the last thing she's gonna do is tell anyone here." - Agent No.5
RELATIONSHIPS
Agent No.5, also known as 'Snake', has proved himself to be No.9's closest companion to date. Their history is not entirely clear, although it is rumoured that No.5's forced employment in the Initiative may have been caused by Saxophone, which would present a frequent rift in their relationship. The male agent has expressed strong desires and affection for Saxophone, and it is somewhat common knowledge that he very likely feels that he 'loves' her. Saxophone has however been recorded explaining that while Snake is her closest friend, his feelings are not real and are his attempt at substituting the existence of his imprisoned wife. The two are frequently seen and heard arguing and bickering, even physicalling fighting, when at work. It is advisable that the two are sent on missions together as, not only are they an excellent unit, but Agent No.5 has proven adept at keeping No.9 under control.
A long and difficult endeavor has been made by the agent to secure the friendship of 'Maeve', a young cervine who also happens to be the child of 'Illrose', a percieved enemy. Saxophone has admitted to her original intentions of manipulating the child and turning her against her family, and has even expressed wishes to harm the child for the sake of revenge. However, she has recently retracted these statements and openly stated that she will 'protect Maeve with her life' if need be. This seems to be one of the few genuine friendships Saxophone has made.
A stag known as 'Cypher' seems to be an object of interest for the doe. She has been known to privately express concern for him and has been observed tending to his wounds and staying by his side despite the danger it posed for both of them. The two seem to have become distant as of late due to the stag's sudden disappearance and Saxophone's recent missions. Initiative attempts to locate the stag elsewhere were unsuccessful. No.9 seems to be conflicted with her feelings towards the stag and may distance herself deliberately in the future to avoid emotional progression.
The female cervine known as 'Illrose' has posed a threat to No.9 since her arrival in the forest, resulting in a great deal of fighting between the agent and the antlered cervine's family. Referred to as 'titan-doe' by Saxophone, Illrose is a creature that she once sought to harm in the worst ways possible. However, the agent has exhibited no murderous tendencies towards the doe since Illrose's acceptance of her daughter's attatchment to the white one.
Other notable relations include ::
Migisi, Demon Fawn, Juliet, Kestrel, Iugulare, Umay, Kody and Leviathann
"Alright, I'll give you that - you shouldn't trust her. Even I don't trust her, and she doesn't trust me. But sometimes you've got to trust her. You've just got to shut your eyes and hope she doesn't decide to kill you. She might, one day. But if you're lucky, she'll keep you around for as long as you like." - Agent No.5

SSDF STAR GET AWAY |: -chase-
Umay's brother's request surprised her, for it seemed that no-one ever wanted to hear her side of the story; no-one had ever asked, at least. She shifted uneasily, paranoid that she was about to be lunged for at any given moment. "It is what it is," the white doe muttered, voice gritty, quiet. "I hurt that kid--Juliet--a long time back after daddy dearest lunged for me for no good reason. Tried to apologise to her later, but no-one was havin' it." She knew that when it came right down to it she was in the wrong; using a child against someone was sick. But that didn't mean she could just sit there and take it. "So y'know, everyone thinks I'm some bitch that's out to hurt Maeve." Best not to mention her hatred of Illrose. Best not.

The canine's ears pulled back and eyes narrowed a little - not in a sign of annoyance but merely from thinking. "You hate Illrose and you are running around with her daughter. Do you not think that just looks a bit too odd? I wouldn't go play with my enemies kids unless I was planning something." His eyes remained focused on her the whole time, unblinking. "You also attacked my sister when she was pregnant, yes? I don't think that helps you look any better. You're lucky I'm not bashing your brains in right now." His claws dug into the ground for a moment, clenching the dirt in a small moment of anger. He held it in though. He wanted answers, not a fight. "However, you seemed to act 'nicely' yesterday after everything. The hell are you up to?"

A sigh, golden eyes rolling; her jaw clenched in annoyance at being told things she was already perfectly aware of. The most irritating thing was that while yes, she was a sly creature, she wasn't even planning anything! Sax stared at the canine coldly, ears flicking. "I can see you want the truth," she remarked dryly. "Yes, I hate Illrose, but did you ever think why?" Sax snorted. "You and the rest of them, you're all the same. You point out the attacks I've made - but all of them were in self-defence, every single one of them that I can remember." She tossed her head, snorting. "I stick with Maeve because she fuckin' loves me to bits, and believe it or not I'm pretty damn fond of her too. You think I'd risk gettin' mauled all the time if I didn't actually give a shit about her?" A final, dry laugh. "You wanna bash my brains in, go ahead. I'm used to it. Hell, maybe you can get the rest of your family to join, you all seem to fuckin' love that."

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
For a good while, Illrose
"What is it you want from my daughter? Really?" She asked through gritted teeth, as she stopped in front of the other doe.
With Illrose's friends and
"Well, well, you guys are full of surprises today," she drawled, unable to help it, smirking dryly for a split second. "Didn't the dog tell you? We're friends, me and Maeve. Incase you hadn't noticed, we're pretty fond of eachother." It was impossible to keep from gloating at least a little bit, absoloutely impossible.
A growl rumbled in her
"I know Maeve - for reasons I cannot understand - adores you, you don't need to tell me that. But I don't trust you to feel the same about her." Her voice cold, but still rather calm.
"But I have realized it's not possible to keep her away from you, at least not without loosing her and I definitely don't want that...so, are you really her friend, or is this some sort of revenge for what we have done to you?" Illrose knew this talk could be pointless, Sax could easily lie if she wished. But she had to do something, for Maeve's sake more than anyone else's.
Not as sure of her safety as
"I tell you the same as I told the dog," she started, glad now that she had remained standing; just incase Illrose lunged for her upon hearing the next words. "At first, yeah, I wanted to get my own back on you, so I thought I'd trick Maeve into trusting me. I won't lie about it." Hastily, she continued. "But--but the thing is, she tricked me. I adore that kid, and even if originally I thought about hurtin' her just to spite you, I can't."
Talking about such personal things is not Sax's strong point.
"I get why y'all can't stand me. I get it. But I'll be damned if I'm lettin' that stop me. I'd protect her with my goddamn life."
Even though she did sit down,
"Fine." She finally said. Since it was impossible to tell Maeve to stay away from Sax, and after what she had just heard, she simply had to give the doe a chance, whether or not that was a stupid decision.
"But if you are lying to me now, if you hurt her, then I'll come after you. And I'll kill you." With that, she gave a small nod as goodbye, and prepared to leave the doe alone.
Sax's ears pricked up as
At first, she was just going to let Illrose leave, nodding at the titan-doe briefly. But then, something came to her. Something she felt was necessary, even if it wounded her pride; the white doe took a few small steps forwards, ears flicking back. "Hey--wait."
A pause.
"I won't hurt her."
There was an awkward pause again before Sax backed up slightly, and then took her leave.
She was already on her way to
"You better not." She snorted, but her voice was slightly less cold than it had been moments ago.
