Haha!! Oh my god Lady, that song is PERFECT! Seriously, it's so creepy how accurate it is!! XD I may just make this his theme song, lol! SOR WHY YOU SO MESSED UP AND SILLY...AND SUSPICIOUSLY SIMILAR TO BOBBY BROWN :x
LMAO! Can you imagine how Nightmare would look O_O;;;; AHAHAHA!
The monster would have watched from a distance, but with things going as they were... and how he seemed to be mentally... it wasn't a surprise that he approached the wounded stag. Ignoring the doe that was beside him as he hissed out softly for a moment before turning himself, and then laying that mass down beside the stag as he stretched out his neck and shook it for just a brief moment.
Nightmare had been trying to comfort himself the past few days since he first met and spoke with Sorog. Earlier, just the other day the monster had spent time with Darcy... laying with the other and tending to festering and infected wounds. Something that he said he was doing for Herla, but really... it was more than likely he was doing it for himself.
Another shake of the head and Nightmare's attention turned to the stag beside him... again, ignoring Sianna's presence. The blue beast shifted before moving that head down and licking over one of the fresher wounds, a sickening comforting manner done with it though also it was with care... strange that a monster that looked so intimidating and cruel could be gentle in such a manner. Especially after the ending of their last meeting.

"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
So deep in sleep was Sorog that he somehow did not feel the massive beast settle beside him. He was exhausted; the past few days had been a physical and emotional whirlwind for him. The stag was still shocked that he hadn't completely lost his sanity...well, not yet at least. His dreams weren't unpleasant, but they weren't terribly soothing either. Nothing made sense, but he felt slightly unnerved even in his subconscious. Sometimes, those dreams were too real to be comforting...
Sorog suddenly jolted awake to the feeling of something slimy dragging over his fur and making his wounds sting. "Wha...?" The stag didn't have to turn his head far to take in the sight of the large beast he saw yesterday tending to his injuries. Wait...he was tending to him? "What are you doing?" Sorog managed to choke out, his ears sliding back and his eyes wide. His body felt paralyzed; he couldn't move away from the monster. Despite his shock, the licking was... relieving, in a disgusting way. This was nothing like how Herla used to tend to his wounds, oh no... Thinking back to her doing such things made his heart sink, and he looked away with a heavy sigh. "I don't know why you bother. I don't even know who you are."
--
Gah, I hate it when that happens! Sometimes that happens to me when my Internet is fine, running like normal. It could just be a client hiccup. It should start reconnecting after a few hours, though, but hopefully not that long. =/
I know, I tried to get on and it just kept on going Error D| I just got tired of it and called it a day for now. I'll probably try again tomorrow >3<;;;;
---
Nightmare's focus turned when he saw Sorog move and heard his voice croaking out... a deep snort coming from the monster as he worked on another injury. Something just seemed to be compelling the beast to tend to those that had been close to Herla before himself. Shaking his head he drew back, Sorog would be able to see the beast had his own festering wounds even through that thick fur... burns and lacerations, though minor... were infected. Likely due to the monsters rage being taken out on the trees within the forest.
Shifting, the beast just stretched his neck out and laid that massive skull down on the ground beside Sorog's form. To say he looked miserable was something, he did look more depressed than the previous day "I may not know you, but I have my own reasons..."
—
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
Even without seeing the state of the beast's wounds, Sorog could smell how bad they were. The stink of decay was not terribly overwhelming, but it was still extremely unpleasant to take in. With a small grunt of disgust, Sorog shifted his weight slightly, bearing a cringe as the beast went to work on one of his other wounds. The striped stag clenched his jaw, not daring to be too hostile around this creature...and then turned his head again as Nightmare shifted and rested his massive head beside him. Blinking, Sorog looked down at the beast with a confused, albeit slightly irritated, expression. Was he...sad? Sorog couldn't really tell with the beast's face, but his posture revealed everything. At Nightmare's words, Sorog snorted softly, his withers quivering on their own accord to elude pesky flies. "And what reasons would those be, stranger?" he asked evenly, his eyes trained on Nightmare's own.
Keeping his head stretched out on the ground, those dangerous jaws closed... such a strange structure for that head. It was no wonder the brute could shred a tree with a simple bite... shifting some those feathers flicked some at the question before that head lifted up and he yawned, revealing the large fangs on that upper jaw along with the array of teeth he had along each jaw. The brute was more so just exhausted physically and mentally from everything.
Shaking his head for a moment he glanced to Sorog at the question "Because I don't want to see those that have better friends suffer... I am tired of watching the ones I care for deeply be hurt and destroyed by things like this..." Sighing deeply Nightmare shifted and shook that head, clearing the buzzing insects that were flying around his fur "I've considered dying again and never coming back... just so that they can live peacefully without a monster like myself near them..."
—
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The striped stag looked away with a small grimace as the beast yawned and revealed its ungodly, pointed teeth. He did not know what the hell Nightmare was, but Sorog wasn't stupid: there was no way he'd ever try to best the creature. The dirty looks were unavoidable, however, although Sorog felt intrigued by the mere fact that the beast was actually speaking to him. And...tending to his wounds, of all things.
Sorog's ears slid back and his eyes narrowed as Nightmare explained, and he stared down at the earth in silence for a moment. "I'll...get over it eventually, I guess. That's just life, right? You love someone so much, and then you fuck up and they won't get anywhere near you. And then you want to take it all back, but you can't. You just pray that everything will turn out alright in the end," Sorog murmured, his eyes distant. When Nightmares spoke again, Sorog's ears slid forward slightly, and he looked at the beast curiously. "You've chosen to come back after you've died? Why would one wish to do that if everyone views them as a monster?"
"I came back four times... each time becoming more and more emotionless. I chose to come back because I felt the pain and sorrow of those who really did care for me, those I called family... I couldn't leave them even though I wanted to stay away..." Nightmare snorted deeply and he sighed "I suppose I just fear death and staying dead... that and I would rather stay as far away from my... dead... family... as much as possible."
Pulling his head up the beast turned his head in the direction of the playgrounds rocks... staring off, even though the area wasn't visible "You can label something monster just by looks alone, but that is just assumptions... and they don't see what the monster they see is truly something the complete opposite of a monster."
An amused snort came out of Nightmare "At least you have someone that is likely to forgive you... those that I cared for... those that I died because of... their gone... I could never be forgiven for my fuck ups..."
—
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The striped stag listened intently as Nightmare explained, and he tipped an ear curiously. The beast's story was surprisingly touching; even a hulking creature like Nightmare could remain dedicated to family and friends, and despite his appearance and temper he still had those who cared for him. Sorog frowned inwardly, and he briefly thought of how many he cared for in the forest. Not many at all... If he left, would they miss him? Emotionless...it sounded nice. He would never have to feel pained again. He never had much emotion to give in the first place, so it wouldn't be a loss. He followed Nightmare's gaze, and he let out a sigh as the beast continued to speak. "That may be true for you. But some of us are monsters both inside and out." His voice was hollow, monotonous.
He then looked back toward the creature with a visible frown. "Who is to say that she will ever forgive me? You may not have those who forgive, but at least you have a family. At least you have those to talk to, to calm you, to stay by your side no matter what." Sorog clenched his jaw, his eyes shifting to the horizon, toward the Idol where he and Herla first met. "I am the monster here, and that's how it will always be."
"But you are trying to make up for the wrongs you have done... a monster would not do such things... no... a monster will drive the ones you love and care for insane. To the point of killing themselves..." A deep snort came out of him "A monster will ruthlessly try and destroy the friendships one has made without remorse... try and take the ones that you love away from you in a mindless game of sport."
There was a growl to come out of the beast before he shook his head chuckling deeply "I destroyed my brother in spite, I killed him and ripped him apart... I even killed my own son in order to live freely..." Shaking his head Nightmare looked at Sorog "I never see my father, and my mother died giving birth to myself and my brother... we destroyed her, consumed her body... there..."[/i] His attention turned back to gaze in the direction of the playground rocks "She speaks to me still... haunts the rocks with her presence because she cannot leave Limbo... much like my brother..."
Shifting Nightmare stretched his legs out, stretching those talons and yawning again as his shoulders shuddered some "As I said before... everyone deserves a second chance... even if you have harmed her... even if she does have a fear of you... there is always that chance to have her hear you out. Hear your confession of how you feel. I never had the chance to tell those that I cared for so much that I loved them... you should not waste a chance to confession your own feelings to her. You never know if you'll lose that chance to something else... like death..."
—
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
Sorog scowled at Nightmare's words, his ears pulling back. "The word is 'trying'. No matter how hard I try, I continue to fuck up and hurt someone. Hell, Herla has given me more than enough chances. Now her view of me will never change. I see fighting as a sport; I always have. As for remorse, I am losing the ability to feel it. I'm always numb."
The striped stag couldn't help but flinch as Nightmare continued, and he looked up at the beast in sympathetic amazement. He never would've expected this confusingly gentle creature to admit to such evil deeds. His stomach turned, and he looked away as a feeling of nausea crept up into his skull. "I'm sorry...that's terrible," he murmured, closing his eyes as he grew light-headed.
A heavy, long sigh escaped him at Nightmare's words, the striped stag's eyes focusing on Sianna's sleeping form. "A second chance... You're right. I'm giving Sianna a second chance, and I'm glad that I did. As for Herla, I'll let her come to me. Going to her just...terrifies her. She can't stand to even look at me..." His eyes fell shut again, and he grit his jaw until it ached.
Nightmare shifted his form as he returned his attention down to Sorog where he was focusing on the little phoenix doe. He shifted, and shook his head for a moment before sighing deeply "She holds more fear for the doe beside you than she does of you... after all, that doe did try and kill her did she not?"
The blue giant shifted again and stretched his neck out, stretching out his sore body "In the end... if she truly should fear anything... it should be me. Everyone, should fear me..." He muttered, before shifting that mass and laying his head down snorting out softly.
—
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The striped stag snorted softly, his eyes shifting away to look into nothing. "No...I have seen the way she looks at me. She is terrified of me now...she believes that I was trying to kill her." He snorted again, gritting his teeth. "Gods...someone claims that they care about you, and then they believe that you'd hurt them. Kill them. I have no trust with her...but I suppose if I were her, I could see why." His voice was monotonous, but also dripping with deeper emotion. Guilt, regret, shame...it was all there. He couldn't hide it anymore.
Sorog slowly turned his head to look down at Nightmare as he spoke. "There is a difference between you and me. She trusts you. She...doesn't trust me. Not anymore," he said in an uncharacteristically quiet and defeated tone, sighing heavily.
Hearing what the other said... the beast just laughed, a cold hearted... rather... disturbing laugh really. Those jaws shifting and clacking together before the blue giant looked to the stag beside him, a flick of light in those empty sockets where his eyes were buried deep inside that skull. Really, something about Nightmare was disturbing... even if he was considered a 'gentle giant' amongst friends and family.
No one knew what the beast was truly capable of.
"None of you know what I am... none of you know what I can do... you never lived in my past. Where I was a cruel, destructive beast... hunting down things that caused my former life sorrow..." Nightmare would have smirked if he had the function to do so with those jaws "There is a reason why I have earned the nicknames many call me... A Sweet Dream... beautiful... kind... caring, protective... all of the things one would see in a friend and loved one.
Shaking his head Nightmare stood up and took a few steps forward tail swaying behind him "That is only a fraction of me... a Nightmare... a Beautiful Nightmare... destructive, violent... unpredictable, cruel... all of the things that one sees in a monster and enemy. That is the side that everyone should fear, that everyone should hope not to see. A side that cannot mandate who is friend and who is foe...
The blue giants head turned to look back at Sorog snorting out, puffs of heavy smoke coming from that skull "You saw a fraction of it before... a small sliver of the madness inside... do you think Herla would want to see that? Do you think she would ever want to be near me if she saw what I can become?

"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The cold-hearted laugh startled Sorog, and then quickly began to annoy him. He scowled, his ears pinned back behind his head as his gaze remained fixated off in the distance. His skin crawled as Nightmare spoke, although he listened intently. Nightmare's weight was shifting, and suddenly his hulking form stood in the corner of Sorog's vision. The stag's heart stopped for just a moment, although he did not flinch. He followed Nightmare's movement's carefully, watching for a single wrong move. But with the beast, he couldn't tell; everything about him was dark and threatening. However, in the back of his mind Sorog knew that Nightmare would not bring him or Sianna any harm. Or so he hoped...
When Nightmare turned his massive head to look him in the eye, Sorog did not cast down his gaze. His eyes remained fixated on the beasts's own. Not as a challenge, but to show that he had had no fear of him...and, perhaps, to make a connection. So strange how he and this strange creature seemed to be kindred spirits. At the mention of Herla, Sorog's expression softened...became one of sympathy. "No, she would not. Herla is...fragile. She frightens easily, and even becomes afraid of those she cares about. But why are you afraid of losing yourself around her? You seem to have more control than me. I...fucked up right in front of her. I doubt you would do the same." His voice was even and non-confrontational.
"You put so much confidence in me... I am a beast through and through, and while I seem to be in control there are triggers in this place that can and will make me turn..." Keeping his attention on Sorog he snorted deeply "I haven't the heart to tell Herla about such things, as you said... she's frail... fragile... frightens quickly. If I were to tell her such things about myself, about what I could do... what I could become... I'd lose her."
Shaking that massive head Nightmare snorted and shifted his weight for a moment, sighing deeply and taking in a heavy breath "I want you to promise me something... a promise that you will uphold if you have any ounce of honor left in you..."
Pausing for a moment as he turned his attention away from Sorog and the doe beside him "Promise me... that if I ever do lose my mind, that if I ever lose myself around Herla... that you will protect her and get her away from me. Promise me that you will destroy me if I am to become a Nightmare..."
—
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The striped stag sighed heavily at Nightmare's words, and he closed his eyes for a moment. Lose her... Yes, he knew what that felt like. Herla had a big heart; she could see past a beastly exterior, but when she becomes frightened...she just can't handle it. It was only a matter of time that Sorog would scare her off. Still, he would always wonder why she had given him so many chances in the first place. He was a lost cause...and he knew that she knew it.
"I want you to promise me something..."
Sorog returned his gaze to the beast, surprised. A...promise? What was this all about? Silently, he regarded Nightmare, and then bowed his head slightly to show that he was listening. What Nightmare would say next surprised him. He felt unsettled by the certainty in the beast's tone, and he wondered what exactly would happen if Nightmare lost himself. Perhaps it was best not knowing, but the promise itself was an easy one to make. Sorog would give his life to protect Herla; he had decided on that long ago. Nothing would be different in this case. "You have my word," Sorog said simply, his tone firm and sincere. Perhaps there was more he should have said, but he left it at that.
There seemed to be a heavy sigh of relief that came out of Nightmare as he lowered his head down, while he doubted that he would indeed ever lose himself to his darker half again there was that fear that was deep inside. And for the beast, he would rather die than bring any harm to Herla... rather die that scare her and see her cowering. It was something that was foreign to the giant blue stag, he never felt... care for many ever since he was destroyed and killed. He had lost those emotions after the third time he died, last the will to care anymore. And now it was surfacing again.
"Thank you..." Strange really, that such a monster could carry out such a calm... even gentle style giving Sorog another glance her bowed that head down, not in a full bow... since Nightmare never bowed to anyone, but enough to give Sorog that pleasure of having him lower his head to the other "You and Darcy... I trust both of you to know what to do if I become a monster... you've learned more about me than anyone else ever has... the both of you..."
( Oh man what happened to the text haha! XD )
—
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
If Sorog could read Nightmare's mind, he would have agreed with him. He was never one for suicide, but to see Herla so fearful of him made him consider the depths of the pond, or Neath's ravenous jaws. If it weren't for Sianna, he would probably be dead by now. An extreme action, of course, but he had nothing to live for. Not until those words of commitment were spoken between him and Sianna... Everything changed, then. Everything became clear.
At Nightmare's thanks, Sorog bowed his head once more, the monster's demeanor no longer confusing to him but instead endearing. For the first time since he met the beast, a small smile formed on Sorog's lips. "Well, I guess I'm flattered that you have invested such trust in me after only a couple of meetings." He then paused, and continued, "What should I call you? I still don't know your name."
(It's funny how much Sor is like Nightmare; he doesn't bow to anyone, either. )
The beasts feathers flicked for a moment and he chuckled out deeply... musing to himself really. Shifting his attention towards Sorog he moved over and shifted "I am a bad dream... a dream that is twisted with horror and terror, something you wake up from screaming in fear of..." The beast paused and chuckled more shifting and lifting his head up "I spoke my name a couple times, I am surprised you have not picked up on it..."
Shifting, the blue giant laid his form down in front of the other, curious if he would put the thoughts together... the meanings of what he said. He could easily just speak his name, but... where would the fun in that be "I feel that I can trust you more than others because we share so much in common... we relate... almost like we were family."
—
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
A snort escaped Sorog as the beast chuckled, his ears sliding back in mild disdain. And then, it dawned on him. "Nightmare," he said flatly. It wasn't a question; he now knew what the creature's name was. And he had to admit, it was very much fitting. He snorted again, this time out of amusement. "You remind me of a creature I once had a nightmare about when I was a kid. I believed that it lived in my closet, and it scared the hell out of me. I had to sleep with a nightlight for a couple of years, even though my dad would yell at me for it," he recalled, his voice dry. He didn't even think of why he was reliving a piece of his past with this creature. Then again, he had been in an emotionally vulnerable state lately.
He looked at Nightmare as he lay before him, sighing. "I guess we do have a little in common. Funny how things work out, eh?" Sorog didn't comment on the 'family' part, however. He grit his teeth slightly at the thought, his gaze shifting away. Family...yeah, that didn't mean much to him anymore. It never really did.

But why are you afraid of losing yourself around her? You seem to have more control than me. I...fucked up right in front of her. I doubt you would do the same." His voice was even and non-confrontational.
"You put so much confidence
Shaking that massive head Nightmare snorted and shifted his weight for a moment, sighing deeply and taking in a heavy breath "I want you to promise me something... a promise that you will uphold if you have any ounce of honor left in you..."
Pausing for a moment as he turned his attention away from Sorog and the doe beside him "Promise me... that if I ever do lose my mind, that if I ever lose myself around Herla... that you will protect her and get her away from me. Promise me that you will destroy me if I am to become a Nightmare..."
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"

The striped stag sighed
There seemed to be a heavy
"Thank you..." Strange really, that such a monster could carry out such a calm... even gentle style giving Sorog another glance her bowed that head down, not in a full bow... since Nightmare never bowed to anyone, but enough to give Sorog that pleasure of having him lower his head to the other "You and Darcy... I trust both of you to know what to do if I become a monster... you've learned more about me than anyone else ever has... the both of you..."
( Oh man what happened to the text haha! XD )

(It's funny how much Sor is like Nightmare; he doesn't bow to anyone, either. )
The beasts feathers flicked
Shifting, the blue giant laid his form down in front of the other, curious if he would put the thoughts together... the meanings of what he said. He could easily just speak his name, but... where would the fun in that be "I feel that I can trust you more than others because we share so much in common... we relate... almost like we were family."
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
A snort escaped Sorog as the
He looked at Nightmare as he lay before him, sighing. "I guess we do have a little in common. Funny how things work out, eh?" Sorog didn't comment on the 'family' part, however. He grit his teeth slightly at the thought, his gaze shifting away. Family...yeah, that didn't mean much to him anymore. It never really did.
