Quiet.
I am alone. I am....fine.
Eloa is.....pregnant. She is....fine. Have not seen her since...
I suppose....I should not feel so....lost. Yet I am, I feel...I don't feel fine.
It's too quiet. I exist, on the fringes, underground.
I exist. I exist. I exist.
I think...
Keep the peace, stay quiet....don't....
Don't start something you can't finish.
How many years have I been here?
------
Neither plague or famine tempered my courage
Nor did raids make me cower
But his translucent skin
Made me shiver deep within my bones
It was a pale white horse
With a crooked smile
And I knew it was my time
The crows came as the day drew out, sunlight falling into the cracks of the trees. As the pond turned red and gravestones began to dot the land, they converged. A cackling black mass nested in the trees, a murder for a purpose. They waited till the Death God called and winged away, swooping through the forest with noisy wings.
At the edge of the blue bowl a little demon raises his head, ears flicking to the sound of their cries. Helmut struggles to his feet, wincing as the muscles began to fail for the last time. As it is he's only stumbled a few steps before the crows desend on him. They claw and peck and scratch, throaty voices damning him to the place he'd crawled from.
And then....after what seems like hours the crows fall away, voices slowly growing silent. Weakly he raises his head and sees the figure looming over him. A skeletal pale white horse stands above him and he knows. He knows. The ground opens up beneath him and he goes down with the dirt, darkness closes off as the tunnel closes behind him. The demon leaves the forest the same way he entered.
In the end nothing's left but a collapsed tunnel and a rapidly growing circle of death. The stink of blood and sulfur are strong around the area, millions of crow foot prints littering the dirt.

The fawn had left the den, hoofbeats trotting- plodding- through the tall brown grass, his green eyes searching and looking for something to do. His parents weren't much fun lately and he was bored, content to simply follow a cold beetle seeking heat from underground. The little insect moved slowly, metabolism all but halted from the frigid weather, and Dragomir crept along right behind it, hoping it would lead him somewhere interesting.

The little demon flopped in a sun spot near the den, watching lazily while his mantis walked around the grass near his nose. The days had been slow. Moving like hardening lava - an endless flow of never ending days. It was hard to tell how long he'd been here. Got harder all the time. Both burrows where thoroughly cleaned now, everything put in it's place. Blankets folded, treasure hoard boxed and sorted. There was really nothing left to do anymore.
i got u my dude

The little fawn crept through the grasses of the birch, not as little as he'd been the last time Helmut saw him. Last time, the two had been equal in height and stature, now the bonehead was almost twice the demon's size. Around his neck he still wore the crystal necklace on a silken chain, having held onto it like it was his reason to live. In reality he just liked to lick it when he was bored, but the gesture was still the same. As the beetle began to veer off, Dragomir stayed on its proverbial tail, eyes locked onto its pretty green carapace. His shoulders slumped in disappointment, however, when the beetle decided it had had enough of being followed, and burrowed into the crevices around a tree root. But his disappointment vanished quick as it came, because out of the corner of his eye, the fawn noticed a strange insect, unlike one he'd ever seen. It looked like a flower, and seemed to dance and sway like one when disturbed. Creeping low to the ground, Dragomir crawled through the grasses to see the strange insect, not even noticing the pink demon resting near it.
Screaming ----- Helmut rolls
-----
Helmut rolls onto his other side, still keeping an eye on the mantis. This taking it easy stuff is about as exciting as watching paint on a house dry.....and then watching as that house ages and falls apart. How do the beings that live here handle this? He wants to scream, kick down doors, shatter windows. But there aren't any buildings here and he's too drained to scream anymore. His drive for doing anything has pretty much vanished. The demon sighs and zones out for awhile. When he checks back in - there's a mighty familiar face staring down his mantis. "Oy! If it ain't the skull kid! Hell, look at ya - you're bigger than me now!" He exclaims, quickly hopping to his feet. They are a lot bigger now, something that makes him quite a bit jealous. The fact that the kid still has that crystal though....it makes him smile. "Ya still got that necklace I see, good've ya to've kept it this damn long."
