Having first appeared when the forest was in its youth, Vilnius has had time to grow and change, and, perhaps more than anything, mature. Once a suspicious and self isolating sort, the quick to violence paranoia of his hot headed youth has settled with more than a little help from dedicated companions as well as time in the general sense. A keeper of emotions, more within the confines of his home universe, Vilnius is one of the many dealmakers one may happen across within the woods. He is not however as rounded in his skills, a keeper of hearts, Vilnius offers only one service; the ability to remove the ability to feel most intricate emotions from sentient beings. Of course, saying he 'offers' this service is simplifying things, it is not something the Crescendo is swift to offer or to do for anyone, he is a great believer in the idea that most suffering is something to be grown from, rather than avoided. In return, the hearts of those he makes these deals with are transferred to him, whatever he uses them for, if anything, he doesn't seem to say. Once, he carried them all in his tines, a childish decision that didn't help his defensiveness, nowadays, they are left at home.
Despite this decision, there is always one heart to be seen about him, in place of a pictogram, his own heart hovers and glows gently. Should it be destroyed, he would be forced back to his own universe to recover. The heart one sees in forest is representative more than anything, and for the heartkeeper to be truly slain, one would have to destroy his soul jar; his true heart, in his own universe.
Not that Vilnius gives much reason for anyone to want to go through the trouble, for the most part he is a peaceful creature, fond of company, children, rain, and quiet walks with good conversation if companionship is included. In fact, it's near impossible to move Vilnius to violence so long as one's ill intentions are directed at himself and only himself. The exception is an attack on friends and loved ones, this situation is one of the few that still rouses old violence from the ashes of the stag's past, incredibly vengeful, he has no qualms with running down threats to those he loves with extreme prejudice. Which isn't to say he is entirely merciless, fatal attacks are carefully avoided for the most part, and a sincere apology brings to light a slightly lighter 'Forgive but do not forget' attitude.
That aside, Vilnius is for the most part cheerful. He has his moments or days of melancholy--he's old, and has much to reflect upon--but sulking gets no one anywhere, and while he allows himself occasional sad nostalgia, he bounces back swiftly and without the need for intervention most of the time. Others' emotions are treated with respect, and if he fears someone may be unwell, he is swift to offer small gifts--usually food--a pair of ears to listen, and a shoulder to cry on.
Rather plain to look at in the forest, if one overlooked the heart between his tines they might at first mistake him for a feral sambar stag, his coat is an earthy array of browns, but simply brown all the same. The tines curving from his head are neither massive tools of war nor spindly and delicate decorations. Cream coloured, of more or less average size, and strong enough. The one thing besides his heart which gives away his non feral nature are his eyes, rich and deep and green, a most unnatural colour for a stag to have. Otherwise, there is nothing particularly outstanding about The Crescendo outwardly.
Extremely family oriented, he has been known to go above and beyond for fawns and other children of any sort. Nothing brings about sorrow for the Hart quite like looking back at his own past and the estrangement of his much beloved son. While he knows Seda's disappearance was not his fault, it is still a painful scar on his history, and one he still works very hard to overcome and leave behind.
Not territorial in the least, his regular haunt is his
throne overlooking the pond, and has been since his arrival in the forest seven years ago. He welcomes companions--known and strangers alike--to join him wherever he may be, and occasionally leaves the comfort of his dandelions and ferns to seek out companionship of his own accord.
Despite his consistent kindness and friendly demeanor, his otherworldly sense of being and status as an immortal being have left him with an odd, almost out of place way of looking down upon others. This is not done in a cruel way or even an obvious one, more than anything it is a defense mechanism, a way to protect himself from the inevitable emotional harm that comes with raising others to your level. And for this reason, while friendship, guardianship, and in a way even love are easy to earn from The Crescendo, a true feeling of equality is more difficult.
