~ In depth ~
This character is 99 percent IC, but I take responsibility for her actions. Ask me if you have questions!
Appearance
Body is quite slender, but well taken care of. Quite muscular, big and strong for a
female, but doesn't use violence as means of getting what she wants. Hooves
are really big and heavy, so she usually walks or trots in order to not tire herself out. Fur is always properly groomed, and occasionally gathers stardust at night. She has long feathers as her "tail", and they can spread a little when she is upset to look more intimidating.
Her face is quite petite due to the elf blood in her. Long ears and long, dark hair which floats around her head when she is using her powers. The third eye in her forehead is usually closed, she only opens it when she wants to use her power.
Personality
Polite / Distrustful / Careful / Uninterested / Honest, even painfully so / Wise / Intelligent / Unloyal / Unsocial
Current Possessions
- A dark blue hood and the DOTD kabuki mask that she found, wears them at all times as a disguise.
- A violet, beaded necklace tied together with three metal pieces.
- Rama's hooves, will make them into a charm later.
Powers
When she opens her forehead-eye, she is exposed to the thoughts and memories (and auras) of all the beings surrounding her. She is especially sensitive to lies - she'll always know if someone is lying. She usually doesn't do this as it brings no real benefit to her, but if someone asks her to do it, she will.
She can also enter a coma-like state for minutes, days or weeks to take a peek on the future ( future of others or the world/dimension she's currently in), but she can never see her own future. (in this state, her main eyes are closed, only the forehead one remains open)
If someone stares at the Third eye for too long, they can become paralyzed for a certain amount of time, suffer from hallucinations or have nightmares for a few days. It can cause death for the youngest of souls.
Her way of feasting on nightmares and dreams can be fatal for certain beings. If your willpower is not strong, you suffer from wounds, you're too old or too young or have a tendency of constantly telling lies, she will suck your soul into her when she is feeding. She does not usually do this on purpose.
Using her powers for too long causes damage to her head and insides, so she only uses them upon request or if it's absolutely necessary.

May 6th
The doe had spent the last weeks in hiding, fearing of what the sunlight might have done to a creature like her. The spring was approaching much faster here than the blue doe had expected, and it was about time she needed to make plans for the upcoming summer. She'd have to either find a place with little light, or she'd have to move back to the demonic realm for the warmer days. If she was completely honest, the demoness wasn't fond of either idea. She had grown fond of this place and the people that lived in it, but at the same time, she'd only end up torturing herself if she stayed here to observe the others during the warmer months. She still had so much to do and see.
She liked to prolong that decision by focusing on the little lamb's legs she had severed earlier. She'd still need to prepare more thread in order to make the charm, and making more meant that she'd need more dreams and nightmares to feast on. Now that the calm, comforting twilight had returned to the Forest, it'd be the perfect chance to gather some of the energy. The safety of the darkness allowed her to walk freely and unbound.
Ah well, much to her surprise, the dream-eater was in an easily distracted mood today - she met two strangers, both seemed as if they were alien to this place. (Nutai, Lavanya) Both of their auras were highly interesting, full of life and distant energy. The serpent-haired creature had a strange vibe to him, one that stopped the demoness in her tracks. He and the youngsters were doing the strange forest dance nearby, and she tried her best to stay out of her way but still stay close enough to observe. It was strange, seeing a creature such as him joining together in something as simple as the forest dance. To the demoness' surprise, she was invited to join them. It reminded her of the kindness of the does that she had met a few months ago, and she couldn't resist the temptation. Just a little dance now and then wouldn't do anything bad now, would it? She joined their little carnival, fully aware that she'd get in trouble for it later...
She fell asleep curled up beside them, only to wake up to the cold hitting her from both sides. The doe was disappointed that her company was gone, and while she did spot the serpent hair later in the day, he looked to be distant. No interest in her, it seemed.
The dream-eater was chased away from her sleeping spot near the weeping Oak tree, attacked by a strange skull-faced individual and what seemed to be, his girlfriend. At first Veleda didn't see her, and became very confident about taking the brute on in combat. As soon as she appeared, the blue doe quickly allowed the skull-face to push her away from the dark spot - after all, she found it really amusing how far males were willing to go for their beloved. Let him show off for her - he was just a simple creature, after all, driven by his primitive instincts.
April 21st
Veleda found a dead Rama (Novaqi's) and decided to take the hooves to make a charm later.
There was a strange sensation in the air, a disturbance in the balance that caught her attention - a soul quickly leaving a body behind. The demoness' senses were delicate, prone to picking up any signs of death, and this seemed a very brutal one at that. The scent of decay was carried to her by the chilly breeze, a nasty echo of breaking bones ringing in her mind. By the sound of it, it seemed like someone young, inexperienced and tough. A shame, really, but nothing worth crying about.
The dream-eater moved slowly, allowing the traces of the soul to guide her - it seemed as if it had left the corpse way earlier, carried swiftly to safety by the Gods' touch. She wouldn't be able to claim the wretch's inner being, but hopefully there would be something useful left behind. Veleda wasn't usually the one to go after rotting corpses that would be claimed by the scavengers sooner or later, but there was much that a demon would be able to do with certain parts of the body, other than use them for food. If she was lucky, the doe wouldn't need the soul to fulfill her duties.
The scene was much.. messier than she had expected. The dead creature had been stripped of its fur and left completely decapitaded, its head severed in a cruel manner. Right now, it only looked like a mess of freezing meat, blooded and nameless. A part of its skin had been ripped off, and it hanged lazily on its side, flopping slightly in the wind. Just a shell, with not even dead, cold eyes to stare into. Damn, someone had definitely been here before her, taking away the head she had been after. Although now hard to tell, the demoness assumed the creature to be a goat - no, a ram, perhaps? Even the colour of the fur was impossible to tell, as it had been ripped off. She wasn't sure, but it wasn't a deer. It was one of those creatures that hopped so elegantly through the mountaintops, with no worry for the world below. And that meant that the dream-eater was in luck - the trotters of these beasts would make a perfect protective charm against unknown magic, if given the proper treatment. Severing them from the already torn, mutilated body might prove to be a problem, though. Although the demoness had small, sharp teeth, they alone wouldn't be enough to pull the hard parts apart from the joints. Besides, she didn't want to risk damaging the trotters, she needed them to be intact or it wouldn't work.
The way she treated the youngster's corpse was nothing but disgraceful - she didn't even bother to think that it had been alive once, jumping and running like the rest of them. It was now merely an object, meant to fulfill its purpose in becoming useful for someone else, the life it once had didn't matter to the doe. Not like she could recognize anyone in this state, anyway. She marched around it for a good few minutes, pondering for a good solution to sever the hooves without creating too big of a mess or damaging the rest of the body. She was still generous in her cruelty, and knew that others could benefit from the other body parts. No use in being greedy, when she didn't need anything else.
If only she had something really sharp and small to cut them with...
And it turned out that she had.
The demoness remembered the beaded necklace she was carrying, and especially what tied it together. Three, sharp pieces of steel kept the violet beads firmly together. She didn't know whether they would be enough to do the trick or not, she needed to try. This could be her only chance to obtain something so useful and so easily. Perhaps she would be able to focus some of her energy into the steel, making it strong enough to cut through the connections between the hoof and the leg.
She grabbed one of the beads with her teeth, and started pulling the best she could, finally snapping the thread apart. The many beads scattered everywhere in a quick flash, raining down like hailstones. No matter - it would be easy to collect them again after she'd be done. She grabbed one of the three pieces of metal with her mouth, opening the Third eye on her forehead to pour some energy into it. Although none of it was visible to the naked eye, in her Sight, the dream-eater could see the wavelength of her own aura extending to the small object, just enough to make her withstand it. She needed to be quick - attaching your essence to something that wasn't alive was risky.
With swift, elegant movements, the doe moved her head back and forth, cutting carefully through the joints and bone right above the hooves, one at a time. A quiet, crackling sound echoed in her ears, but she found the sound to be beautiful, like music that could have only been made true By something soulless. She made sure to be precise, not taking anything with her that she didn't need. The result of her cutting was precise and careful, as if done By a surgeon.
As she finished and was finally rid of the nasty stench that rose from the headless corpse, she quickly detached her soul from the steel, feeling a little sting as it returned to her body. In a haste, she made sure to collect all of the beads that had scattered around the lamb's body, and connected them with the thread once more, sealing it with her power. Only this time were the four, small shells that had once been attached to the lamb's legs hanging from the thread as well, clashing loudly against each other as the dream-eater started to make the journey back to her shade By the Ruins. She had work to do.
March 30th
It was as if the Forest gods had heard her wishes to witness the beauty of the twilight. She hadn't been able to see the last one, to feel how the change in the Forest affected its inhabitants. This time was different; the dream-eater woke up to see the woods splattered with different hues of purples, reds and blues, all beautifully displayed in a serene manner that would leave one breathless - even a dark creature like herself. For the first time in a long while, the demoness felt excitement to be here, to see the serenity of this dimension at its finest. She felt..younger, somehow. She felt stronger, not sure if it was caused by the darkness giving her more powers or just the pure excitement of the change in the air. Despite her usual desire to find out the causalities for every little thing she encountered, today she wasn't going to waste any energy or resources trying to find out what had made her feel so different.
Feeling as though she coulf finally start to fit in in here, the demoness decided it was better to change the mask that she had been wearing up to this point. People called it "The Day of the Dead mask" , and the doe could definitely see why. The whole appearance of it was enough to make one tremble, especially the Forest's youngest. If the dream-eater wanted to be recognized and considered as a friend, she had to get rid of that thing. It only aroused more suspicion and discomfort than it was originally meant to. She wanted to communicate with these people, to get to know them, and that required a change in her approach. She had watched them long enough to know how one was supposed to greet and behave, and she truly believed that she could imitate that just enough to understand and be understood. Using her newfound abilities, the demoness was successful in acquiring a new mask, the Kabuki mask as the people in this Forest called it. She would be eternally grateful to the pair that had helped her (Kestrel, Hydra?) - even in this Forest, one's own interests seemed to come after anything else. Greed and selfishness followed mortals wherever they went.
Today, the dream-eater felt as though she was ready for anything, from communing with evil spirits to daring to receive some of the Gods' power. Eh, the latter was exactly what the demoness ended up doing. She didn't feel fear nor discomfort when she approached the Twin Statues, which was odd. The last time, the demoness had felt as if her very soul was being pushed aside by the immerse power emitting from the stone structures. She wasn't sure if it was the overwhelming darkness that gave her the necessary power or courage to withstand the gods' light, but she was able to stand closer to the statues that she had managed to before. The pure, heart-warming aura was still as visible as ever - their power hadn't been weakened by the dark forces one bit. These truly were deities worth mentioning when she would be called back to her realm once more. Not even the demon masters could stand against this power, so warm and gentle, absolute and immerse. The doe was certain that this kind of energy couldn't be found anywhere else. She was starting to enjoy her life here more and more as each day passed.
March 20th
Acquired a soul piece, used it to heal some of the damages that the last treatment of her Master had caused her soul, and prolonged her existence even if it was only for a moment.
The Master would be pleased the next time she would be called back to the demonic realm. However, the demoness was growing increasingly worried as she knew the time for her next feeding would need to happen soon. But she had learned to like the Forest and its creatures, and wasn't sure as to who she could target without causing permanent damage. She was saddened that she couldn't have been there to witness the Forest twilight, a time when spirits were rumoured to be most active, but was glad to see that the rain was over, and that the seasons would shift soon. She had grown fond of the strange white powder called 'snow', but the dream-eater had studied it for more than enough to understand its concepts.
March 11th
Rain. What a strange phenomenon - one so unfamiliar and fascinating for the demoness. There was never rain in the demonic realm, no sunshine nor wind. Nothing natural. She did recall distant memories from way back, the days when she had still been a mortal like the rest of them. How the snow had touched her face, how refreshing the rain had felt on her skin. It seemed like this vessel that she now resided in was incapable of feeling such joy from the weather.
The dream-eater finally heard of the birth of demon children in the Forest. She had heard Ractera's name somewhere, but could not be happy about her family. One might think that Veleda was happy when there were more of her own kind, but she was worried for the safety of the Forest's inhabitants and the overall balance of this realm. If those demons were introduced to the demonic realm as soon as possible and kept under tight supervision, only then would it be alright to allow them to strife. She hoped that she could meet the children for herself at some point.
A familiar feeling soon lead the demoness towards the Ruins, and she could sense what was going on even before she got there. Someone had died recently, and their wandering soul would be there for the demoness to collect.
Soon enough, the body came within sight. Hm, she was sure she had seen the stag somewhere before, but otherwise the sight of a dead body didn't affect her much. Even though it wasn't anything to write home about, she was more or less used to them. After all, it was her duty to collect souls and spirits, and deliver them to her Master or use them as a source to gather more information. It had become a part of her everyday life.
Using her Third eye to make the connection between the wandering soul, the dream-eater hoped that it would prove to be easy this time. Few deer in this Forest were intelligent enough to resist her, but at the same time they were protected by the Twin Gods' magic. She'd soon see whether it was the case this time.
As the connection was formed, the aura that surrounded the spirit became visible, giving the stag a form. He wasn't alone - a bigger wavelength surrounded him, and there were similarities in their auras. Family, perhaps? If she was honest, the doe was surprised of how calm they both were. It was as if they were both comfortable with death, and had found the resolve they had missed in life. Tried her best to tempt the dead stag's soul, to make him join her - but to no avail. The stag was content with death, and had made his peace. Begone, demon. That's what they told her. The demoness wasn't able to take the soul by force; the brown stag was protected by a tight aura of love - most likely provided by those who he loved and who loved him. How jealous did the demoness feel - mortals were strong. Special. That's what the stag told her, too.
She had no choice but to give up on it, before using the Third would cause any further damage to her body.
It seemed like she would need to eat soon.
February 28th
The demoness was briefly called back to the demonic realm, as the word of her sudden 'disloyalty' had reached the ears of her Master. Veleda wasn't afraid to face Him or the council, as she had done it countless of times before - yes, this was hardly the first time she had been disobedient. She was a loyal creature, but didn't respect the way her Master wanted her to handle a task. She would not kill for fun, not under any circumstances.
How had she broken the rules this time? Well, the demoness had become arrogant over the time that she had spent in the Forest - ignoring most of the tasks that had been thrown her way. Recently, the doe had been ordered to murder a lone child, which had been looking for its parent. This was a part of a bigger plan that the demon Royalty had in store, a way to cause a feud between two families. If the starting point hadn't been a fawn, but an adult, the demoness would still have refused the task. No plan was worth killing that innocent creature - let someone else handle it.
Facing the Council, the demoness was sentenced to torture by her Master. *sigh* It was all too familiar. Her Master couldn't afford to kill her, she was mostly a loyal and an important vessel, after all. Not that many demons were able to wander in the Endless Forest, given the powerful magic of the Twin Gods.
The method of torture was simple - the demoness was forced to stand in immerse heat, feeling as though it was burning through her skin, even though it didn't physically do anything to her. It was burning her from inside out, going through her veins like burning ash, making her feel as though she'd suffocate. A chain, so cold that it would feel as if it burned, was planted into an open, deep wound in her chest, almost reaching the arteries around her heart. Every time her Master would pull it, something inside of her chest would break, blood gushing out. Surely treatment like this would have killed a normal deer, or even a human, but demon torture had to do with the soul. All the damage she received was to her being, the entity that was lodged in the body. This made it so that her body, which was still sleeping in the Forest, (though lifeless without her) had no wounds, so sign of the treatment she was going through.
The demoness had become more or less used to this torture, but always found herself screaming "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" at the end of it, until her Master had forgiven her, until He allowed her to go on. It was painful - she didn't know if she could ever get used to it. She did accept it, though - after all, she had become increasingly arrogant, trying to serve the Twin Gods instead of the demon royalty.
She was sent back to the Forest, this time her loyalty and obedience to the demonic realm returning. What a fool she had been to make friends with these creatures, when she should have been studying their lifestyle and the way they interacted with different creatures. She couldn't forgot her mission again, unless she had an early death wish. She felt extremely guilty about disappointing her Master, especially after all that He had done for her.
This time she made sure to stay away from the Forest's inhabitants, watching them from a distance, trying her best to learn. She felt weak, so weak, and moving was painful. Even though there was no visible bruise on her body, she could still feel the chain pulling her veins apart.
However, was later cherished by two does, who clearly showed that they were afraid of her, but still wanted her to join them. It wouldn't be disloyalty, right? The demoness had absolutely no intention to make friends out of them, she'd just follow them around for a bit and imitate their reactions. It was a part of the learning process.
Even though she ended up enjoying herself, her heart was full of worry. The wound in her chest wouldn't heal, not unless she could somehow acquire a soul piece. And acquiring one would mean making a deal with someone - otherwise it could end up shortening her lifespan.
Help.
February 15th
An eventful day. Found herself fascinated by the Crying Idol, as the strange statue seemed to be as if it had an actual being, an actual aura. It was completely hollow and soulless, but the aura that surrounded it could be seen with her Eye, emitting such sorrow that the demoness couldn't help but to stop to look at it. She wanted to study it further, find the source of such bottomless sorrow. The doe was joined by a decorative, colourful stag named Balance, who offered to sit with her. Why not - the disguise was nowhere near breaking, and the doe didn't need any energy right now. She wasn't about to harm anyone for the fun of it.
As the stag said his goodbyes, almost made the mistake of approaching the Desert God, Antares. The doe could tell she was not from here, that she had something in her that could only be associated with a distant goddess. The demoness would have to be more careful, as gods were something she just couldn't keep looking at forever - they could harm her only by scorching her with eye contact.
Instead, met with a wolf-like creature named Zenaida, whose jewels immediately aroused her interest. Although they may have been mere trinkets for Zen, the demoness saw great opportunity in acquiring some of those gems - they'd be great containers for the soul pieces she was gathering. Asked her about it, and the doe seemed to be completely okay with gathering some for her the next time they met. The demoness was grateful.. she just hoped the hybrid would not forget about that promise.
Later tried approaching the Twin Statues again, but still didn't dare to get too close to the source of the Forest's power. These religious symbols held true power, and they would surely harm a creature as dark as herself. Instead, the demoness focused on breaking some serious fights that were going on with a group of fawns. Fawns . She did not understand what was going on with this place, but she didn't know if it was as wonderful as Abby and Fibonacci had said earlier. Got a few bruises in the process, but was proud of herself at the end of it - there had been no need to use her powers, and the fight was brought to an end peacefully. Maybe kindness and patience actually paid off.
January 26th
Sat around with the strange stag, Elliot for a while. The silence between them was quite welcome, though, from all the fawn mooing the doe had heard the other day.
Couldn't sit still for a long while, for the strange presence of a new, dangerous being caught her attention. It was the devourer, a strange beast of whom the doe had heard many stories in the demonic realm. A long, white spire pierced its mostly hollow body, its existence only hanging by a thread.
Stayed around for a while, hoping to strike a deal for the creature's life, just for a small piece of its soul, the essence of its being. Would have probably succeeded in her plans, if the others wouldn't have intervened. It's always a problem with the others, they're too curious for their own good. They'd get the stag out of that situation by themselves, or end up killing him. Whatever - it didn't matter to the doe. She had disappointed her master by not being able to form a promise with the beast's existence.
People scared her - it was too much to take at once. A part of her wanted the red beast to survive, which could mean he could seek her aid later.
January 19th
Still favoring the Oak as her little castle, the doe started to get out there much more instead of just lurking in the shadows and watching the creatures of this place from a distance. By peering into the nearby future, it had been plenty obvious that there would be no sunlight today. It would be safe to go out and investigate others closely without hopefully raising any suspicions.
The disguise was still working in scaring most of the fawns off, but one of them was silly enough to approach the demoness. She had feasted on a little bird's dreams earlier, killing it in the process. She didn't think much of it. Birds were simple and so was their little world that circled around finding food for their family. Killing one of them was not enough to disturb the natural balance of this realm. The predators were the true threat, if their number increased higher. Ah, this fawn was not in danger now. She wanted to study it anyway. The fusion between a deer and a human surprised her greatly, yet the actions were more deerlike. Thank goodness for that.
Turns out it couldn't speak yet, so decided to leave it be after sniffing and poking it a couple of times. The young one didn't seem to mind.
Discovered the Ruins and all the people gathered there. Slightly confused about their neverending happiness, but made note of it and tried the Forest magic for the first time by giving another doe a whole new colour. Her silky, silvery coat had turned blinding white in an instant. Huh, guess the magic in this place was based on giving the joy for others. Noted. The demoness wouldn't be needing that kind of magic in her travels, but it was better to study every aspect of this place if she was to stay longer. At least the magic was very simple to grasp, and it didn't even damage her body afterwards.
Sniffed the brown stag sitting in the Ruins, but probably scared him off. Even if disguised, her appearance wasn't the prettiest to look at. Yet it gave her the perfect chance to be one of them.
Master, please reveal my purpose here to me soon.
January 12th
Her little disguise was working like magic. It was strange enough to keep most folk away, but interesting enough to keep them from ignoring her. This allowed the demoness to lurk in the giant tree's shadow, while keeping a sharp eye on the two fawns that played around the small pond. Did they have no parents, either? The doe was afraid of unexplainable things - even demons had parents. It's not like anything can come out of nothing, right?
Abby had explained it to be the power of the gods that could bring about new life. If beings so strong even existed, why couldn't the doe see a trace of them? If they were away, surely this dimension wouldn't be able to exist and keep the balance. Right?
She still thought it better not to approach the others. The sunlight proposed a risk to her, even with her disguise. Demons could never fully escape their curse to suffer from light sources. The fawns seemed fairly normal for mortals. Playing, chasing small critters and laughing when one of them fell to the pond. There was, however, one interesting aspect. It seemed like neither could keep magic on them for longer than a few minutes. The doe didn't know how it would help her research, but lodged the information deep inside her brain. And she never forgot.
Master, why have you brought me here?
January 7th, 2015
(Woop grew up but let's pretend she's always been an adult ya.)
The demoness had the courage to finally wander around, as the sunlight wasn't too strong. It wouldn't harm her. As long as she kept her presence hidden, she could live among the others. As long as they didn't know who she was. The doe trusted Abby and Fibonacci, her very first contacts in the Forest, to keep her true nature safe. Others could simply not find out about her being from the demon realm - who knows what kind of disaster would follow.
The dream-eater made hid her Third eye as well as she could behind her long, black hair. Her main eyes were a problem as well, though. They were mostly black pits with very little blue, so she'd have to do something to conceal her true form. The Forest had the perfect answer for her problem - spells that could change your appearance. The demoness acquired the perfect mask - creepy enough for her tastes, but normal enough to fit in with the normal folk. (DotD mask)
She wasn't approached by anyone nor did she approach others herself. She would only investigate and watch from the shadows in order to learn the Forest's way of life. It was not enough to fit in by looks. She had to ACT like one of them without arousing suspicion.
Yet she hungered for a meal.
December 30th, 2014
Arrival in the Forest, based on RP.
Woke in the giant tree, in a weakened state and head pounding. Hungry for someone's dreams or thoughts. Tries to feed on a little female (ApoideaBee's Abby) but gets overrun by her sudden power. Dares not to attack as the female gets help from a stag. (Chromai's Fibonacci)
Thinks she is done for, but is shown mercy and promises not to harm then in return. Probably in debt to them, even though she doesn't want to admit it. Befriends the two, against all odds. Later joined by Elliot - who arrives just in time to stop their argument.
"I guess this'll be my home now." She says as she looks around her in wonder. There's much to be learnt from this place, for example that the demoness just can't get too close to the Gods' statues. They could potentially harm her.
~ Bonds ~
Abby: A female Veleda finds intriguing, yet strange. A power she's never seen before, wishes to investigate further. Regrets what she tried to do to her earlier.
Fibonacci: Never did she think that she'd end up being all goody-goody with a demon slayer. But it happened, and the demoness doesn't regret it. Respects his views.
Zenaida: Met the wolf-like hybrid in the Forest, talked with her for quite a while. Deems really interesting.
Elliot: Recently met, curious about his aura. OKAY GUY.
