A little help and advice?? Non TEF.

Hello everyone, my insane mum has gotten me into a strange maybe health altering problem.

Well, because I MAY have head lice (my hair is very thick so I get it every now and then - and sometimes real bad) Mum got some advice from a woman about her age: Use pet shampoo to treat it.

Now, I took a look at it after she bought some, and I really didn't think this is safe. So I go on the internet to do some research. Apparently it's dangerous cause many brands contain insecticide to kill bugs but aren't healthy for us humans. I try to tell her it's not a very good idea. She doesn't listen.

I find out about some ingredient in it called uhh.. -Looks at web page- Pyrethrins. Some chemical used to kill insects and is used in many head lice brands, pet shampoos, and bug sprays and such.

I looked at a few sites about it and it said it is harmful and can cause some symptoms -Is too lazy to list them-. I look at the bottle of the pet shampoo again and it says it used the natural ingredient Pyrethrins to help rid the "coat" (since it's pet shampoo) of bugs.

I know this isn't safe. I can't convince my mum to lay it down and start thinking about HER CHILDREN'S SAFETY!

Any help to convince her to stop? HURRY, SHE'S GOING TO MAKE ME WASH MY HAIR WITH IT SOON!!

Edit: I even got some info about Pyrethrins here http://wiki.medpedia.com/Pyrethrins-and-Pyrethroids#How_can_pyrethrins_and_pyrethroids_affect_my_health.3F

Ah sorry, I didn't see this

Ah sorry, I didn't see this in time.

Well, maybe the first wash should get rid of them so you don't have to do that again.

Next time tell her to talk to a doctor (or even a pharmacist) to see what to do.

It's no problem. Apparently

It's no problem. Apparently it's more "harmful than hair dye" Mum says..

There's no way I'm letting her do that again. I'm having an itch sensation right now. Especially in the back of my neck...

Ugh, that doesn´t sound nice

Ugh, that doesn´t sound nice at all. o_o
She should realize to think this kind of stuff more before doing something this stupid, there is probably a reason why it is a PET product, not something people should wash themselves with! I´m sure that there is a HUMAN products for this purpose also, why not buy that stuff instead?

It's horrible. I don't want anyone feeling the pain. MY SHOULDERS AND NECK ARE ITCHY!!

She tried using this acutal human treatment multiple times but she's too inpatient for it to work!

Ewww my hair smells like dog now. And it's the first day of school tomorrow..

Yep ok. I got it rinsed out

Yep ok. I got it rinsed out after a few seconds of keeping it in.

No side effects other than itchiness though.

The skin on your head under

The skin on your head under the hair is the thinniest and the most vulnerable part of human skin. It let's toxins through it more easily than for emaple the skin on your arm or back.

Using skin irritating substances on your skin is not wise, but using them on your scalp? I wish nothing happens to you. O__O

Unfortunately I don't know of any other way to get rid of those bugs other than a special combs.

I suggest you drag her to a doctor, who can tell her the facts straight to her face. It won't probably work at first tho...

Thankyou for the support

Thankyou for the support everyone. I don't think much will happen to me, I feel fine today, but I promise you I won't let her do that again.

@Mysterydeer: Actually my crazed mum was very desperate to get rid of these buggers so she FORCED it on my hair. But I don't think nothing serious will happen, I don't think I'll get cancer or anything. But mum just doesn't understand it was dangerous.

@Innisen: Yeah, it's a real shame it's our heads that's easiest to be affected. I will be getting back to my mum. Actually she "tried" to prove it was ok by putting some on her head herself. She is a crazy scallywag -glares at mum-

We tried nit combs quite a bit and it's very painful, yet I survive through it but they ALWAYS come back. I do have a lazy friend that never showers who does have head lice that I can't get away from. Me and my friends really don't want to be near her.

Now that all this has been mentioned, the back of my head feels strange, like it feels very heavy and a little painful to keep up..

EDIT: Actually a notice went up on all the classroom windows today that the school is fundrasing with safe insecticide free head lice treatment ^^.
