A little Beetle sitting in the forest

I am very happy with this painting.

I have not done a background in A LONG TIME, so it was a challenge. I think I did okay for just starting out!

I'm feeling terrible, in and out of unbearable pain, accompanied with a phlemy cough, and I was aching for a comforting character to make. I thought, what better character to make, than a deer!

So, I made this guy here, whom I am calling, Beetle. The name might not last, but he is inspired by the art style of James and the Giant Peach, and he kinda looks like a beetle, with his antenna antlers. I don't know what I would call him, if not Beetle, though.

I also wanted to paint a picture with him in it. I haven't just sat down and painted an entire scene, so I enjoyed this. It was oddly calming, despite how uh...subpar I am at it.

It's a really nice piece of work an' a think the background's more than just okay~
Also now that I'll looking at it's face more closely it really does remind me of James and the Giant Peach!

Backgrounds always kill me bc

Backgrounds always kill me bc I suck at them as well. I like that face, to me, it seems as though maybe he has ate some mushrooms and really feeling the effects.. Sticking out tongue
