Chapter Two
A month has passed since the large buck came to Kurai, with the Sun no longer near blinding him, and the bucks pelt as black as night, he was finally able to catch the deers pelt colour. A midnight blue pelt, yellow markings forming in the shape of stars and his eyes, pure red, full of rage, and loyalty to the dark one known as Karanu. Since Kurai was picked up from the Buck, he hasnt started training yet, he was still to small and feeble, but he has leared a bit of the buck. Chi was his name, Chi, one of spilling blood and energy. Yet, though he has learned the bucks name, Chi refuses to speak of his past. His past as the Candle holder for the Dark ones, to light their way to victory in their devious plans.
Kurai, a young fawn of Greys and Whites, and now a bit of Peacock greens shining like silver on his back, slept the say away from high sun to dusk. As the sunset settled below the mountains of the land his mentor kept him so solitary in, the sky lit up with oranges, Purples, Blues, and Pinks. Not a cloud in site. As he slept peacefully the two month old fawn remained quiet. As Chi appeared into the land he had assigned his apprentice, he grunted to see him still sleeping. Lowering his large antlers he shoved them against Kurai. "Awaken!" He yelled, and with a jolt, Kurai flew up and looked around, his heart rushing like a raging river. "Darkness child my butt," he snorted and turned, "You dont even awaken when I ordered you to!" Shaking his head the large buck started off, expecting to be followed. Kurai gazed around, a bit dazed and slightly wounded, but he followed after anyway. "What are we doing today Chi?" He asked. Chi quickly turned and looked down onto the fawn, Kurai cringed at the glare, and the aura of disappointment glowing around the elder. "Rule one, you will /never/! Speak out of line!" He snapped. "If Karanu had heard your useless outburst he would have your head! And I should do the same!" He spoke coldly yet turned. "If you talk again dont expect to see tomorrow," he snorted as he picked up turfs of grass as his pointed split hooves dug into the ground to preform a trot.
Getting to a grassy area he turned back to Kurai and looked around, his nostrils flaring as he scented the surroundings. "Smell, smell whats around you, let your hooves do the feeling of the earth," he explained and closed his eyes as he allowed himself to go into a calm position, his hooves feeling for danger, his nose smelling for food or a river. "What do you smell and feel," he asked and looked back to his apprentice. Kurai gave a quavered sigh, "stop doing that!" The buck snapped, "it shows you are weak and not confident! If you are to meet the Dark one, you must be confident! Stand Proud! And Tell me what you smell and feel!" He snapped and threw his hoof down to the ground. Nodding, the fawn closed his eyes and lifted his muzzle. Sniffing the air, his mentors head cocked as he watched Kurai's stance loosen, he knew he got it. He would never admit it, but he was proud, none of his other apprentices for the Dark ones got this their first try. "I feel a river close by and smell it too, and the fish and urine of other animals, one of them is another deer," he explained. "What else," Chi asked. "I....Theres a bird behind me flying this way....Theres a rabbit tunnel under me...." He stopped and opened his eyes again, "thats it Mlord," he spoke formally and Chi nodded. "Good, but you missed something," his eyes narrowed and walked past him. Going up to a large tree he shook off some fungus with his antlers, "taste this, this is another thing you should have added, this is fungus, once you eat this I will show you what it does." Stepping back he allowed the fawn to eat his meal.
Reaching down he gave a whiff of the fungus but ate it as told. Suddenly a strange feeling arose from his hooves up to his head, filling him slowly with the strange feeling. "I-I feel odd," he explained and tried to shake it away, "stop shaking!" He growled, "it will kill you if you dont do it right!" He finally said and the fawn froze in his tracks. "Now what this does, is it casts magic, it only words on most deer, lower your head, concentrate on releasing the feeling, do /not/ stop! It must come out or it will form into a ball and rupture major organs." He explained and stood where he was. Gulping, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Lowering his head, he concentrated on the feeling. It slowly released itself from his hooves, moving through his body until it was all lodged in his head! It felt like his head was going to pop! Shaking it would he cried, "get it out! I dont wanna die!" He cried. "Shut up and cast it!" Chi yelled, "I dont want to die!" Kurai cried louder. "Do it or I kill you myself!" He snapped and Kurai lowered his head again. With a sudden release the Fawn was thrown aback and a released ball of light started bouncing around. With emotionless eyes, Chi watched the ball fly away. Rolling his eyes he looked at the stunned fawn. "You need aiming practice, but now that you id cast that, your life has been shortened as well, theirs always a cost at casting magic," and at those words Kurai froze and looked at the buck with wide eyes. Shaking his head he grunted, "your to easy! Learn to know when things are taken seriously and when others are not," he ordered before walking off, "on to our next lesson."
