---------------------------

Headlights flashed in the window, stinging her eyes. Her squinted reaction did little to change her overall expression, a furious gaze already narrowed slits as she watched the car back out of the drive and turn down the street.
He was leaving... Again. Leaving her.
The muscles in her jaw tightened as her teeth ground together in building anger. The house fell silent around her. Oh so still... just like her as she stood and stared out into the night, well after the devilish red gleam of the rear lights disappeared over the hill. 'Tick, tick, tick' a clock on the nearby wall quietly counted the seconds.
Her hands tightened into fists. One squeezed into something soft in her grip.

Faltering, her eyes shifted away from the window to gaze down at the object she slowly lifted out in front of her. An old teddy bear. It's black eyes were scratched and lifeless as it peered up at her, a permanent smile sewn into its face. 'His name is Milo,' the man's voice repeated in her head, 'He can keep you company.' The sad way he'd smiled...handled the stuffed toy with care. It had intrigued her then but now, staring down at the thing, she couldn't help but loathe the whole idea of it. She didn't want some stupid stuffed animal!

With a sudden shout of frustration she gripped the bear with both hands and flexed the muscles in her arms, attempting to the rip the stupid thing in two. That would show him! It was an old, worn thing, but the fabric still held up better than she expected. Still, after a moment's struggle: 'Rip.' The sound made her gasp. She immediately loosened her hold and gazed down at the thing with wary eyes, turning it over, looking for the source of the sound. A tiny bit of stuffing peaked through a newly torn stitch in the bear's side. In a brief moment all her anger faded, brows knitting beneath her ebony bangs in regret as a finger tentatively poked its way through the damage. Cypher's sad smile again in her head... Agh!

Migisi stormed into the kitchen. She threw the bear onto the table in another outburst of rage. The brightly colored children's blocks that Cypher had given her earlier were stacked in various arrangements there. In an instant they toppled over and scattered. The loud clatter of them hitting the tiled floor only fueled her anxiety and she threw up her arms, hugging them around her head as her feet carried her back and forth in front of the counter tops in a fevered pace. The pressure in her head grew and grew, her anger rising with each step. She would explode...surely she would! Wrapping her fingers in her hair she gripped and pulled, closing her eyes from the pain and crying out.

Then...she relaxed.

Her grip loosened and her arms fell to her sides in defeat, lungs full of air deflating in a shuddering sigh. 'Tick, tick, tick.' She turned back towards the table, her eyes drifting to the floor to gaze upon the mess she'd made with a stoic indifference. The bear drew her attention again, laying face down in the mess of Lego pieces. Frowning softly, the young woman bent and retrieved the stuffed toy, sighing as she set it upright on the table and gazed down at it. Pressing her lips together in a firm line she reached out and gingerly touched its cheek, drawing a line down the side of its face with the lightness of her fingertips. 'Hm...Hmph! Stupid...' The muscles around her eyes tightened in a flair of defiance. Withdrawing her hand, she turned her back on the bear, the kitchen, and then the living room as her eyes bore into the front door with determination. After quickly slipping on her tennis shoes, her hand hovered near the handle in moment of hesitation before she grasped it firmly a yanked it open, then slammed it shut behind her. Heavy feet stomped across the tiny porch, down the steps and onto the concrete walk before they shifted into a sprint down the sidewalk. The neighborhood was quiet. Street lamps were all that lit her path and the pale light faded from the evening sky.

The woman finally relented,

The woman finally relented, pulling her hands from his waist and back. She rocked back on her heels with a sigh of effort as she watched Cypher finally give into her 'persuasion'. He settled in the chair, looking less than pleased with the circumstances, yet Migisi beamed with a sense of pride and accomplishment. It still greatly amused her that she could manhandle a bit to get her way now. How many times in her life had she been given the same treatment with no possible way to fight back?

Yes, she could certainly get used to this.

Reaching over, she laid a hand on his head and lightly tousled his already messy hair, like someone might do with a child. Or a pet. Then, turning on the balls of her bare feet she wandered into the kitchen, leaving the men to their...Well, whatever men did. Her pale gaze rested instead on the mess that now littered the counter top, her teeth nipping lightly at the insides of her mouth as she thought about the task at hand. She would have to take over tonight to insure Cypher didn't hurt himself anymore. Seeing as he wouldn't take her with her and let her protect him that way...the least she could do to satisfy herself was protect him from himself now. It couldn't be too hard. She had helped him plenty of times in the kitchen already, though it had never been left up to her alone to complete a task. Watching carefully, she knew how the processes worked. Piece of cake!

Retrieving the bread from the box she set to work, plopping two slices on the marble surface before reaching for the soft-spread butter. She almost stuck her finger in to gob it onto the slices, but stopped herself, glancing warily over her shoulder to note the man's eyes on her. No...she better not. Sticking fingers in food you weren't about to eat was apparently not a good thing in the human world. Stepping back, her eyes swept the kitchen before landing on a familiar drawer. Pulling it open, her hand hovered wantingly over the shining silverware neatly organized within. Fork? No...Spoon? Hmm, maybe. No, no, it was definitely this one! Grabbing the butter knife she turned it in her hands with a small smile before returning to her work. Too much butter was scooped from the container as she jabbed the knife in and lobbed it onto the bread. That didn't look right...maybe after she spread it around a little. Not as easy as it looked, she found out. The soft slices tore from the pressure, butter smearing onto the counter as holes appeared. Err... ah! After some struggle she got both pieces covered in the spread...however horrific the results. Absentmindedly licking the remaining butter from the knife she reached for the package of meat next, tearing it open and inhaling the aroma. Her stomach twisted and gurgled and she couldn't help but sneak a small pinch of the sliced beef for herself before stacking it onto the bread.

After some struggle with the mustard bottle, a sprinkling of shredded cheese and some tippy-toe reaching for a plate, she set the somewhat tattered, messy roast beef sandwich on the round dish and carried it eagerly over to Cypher. Migisi set it before him and stepped back, her smile looked a bit hesitant as her eyes shifted from his face to the plate. Well...it didn't really look very good...but she was sure she'd done everything right! Oh! Her face lit up and she spun around again, nearly tripping on another colored block in her path. Carelessly snagging a sharp knife from the cutlery display she came back and leaned over the table, attempted to saw the sandwich in half the way he always did...and making and even bigger mess in the process.

That bear means a lot to you,

That bear means a lot to you, doesn't it...

"No, not really," Cypher lied through his teeth as he tossed the stuffed toy to the side. Nervously clasping his hands tightly together as his leg jittered beneath the table. Sure the bear had offered a false sense of security and comfort as a child back in the asylum, but he was now a man in his 20s. A rip in a stuff bear should not bother him, but yet, it did. Tap tap tap... his trimmed fingernails beat along with the rhythm of his foot.

Behind him, he heard the shuffling and faint bangs of plastic jars and metal clanging against metal. He curiously looked over his shoulder. Brows tangled above tired eyes as he watched Migisi preparing their 'meal'. Inexperienced hands shaking while spreading the butter over the slices of bread. Hourglass body stretching on tip-toes. Loosening the grip the sweat pants had on her waist, causing them to slightly slid a bit. A brow rose in lustful curiosity, causing him to turn around a bit more in the chair to face her. As Migisi turned to carry the plate to him, Cypher quickly twisted in his chair to avoid revealing his cave in to his male instincts. Relaxing as she sat the sandwich before him and eying him.

The sandwich was a mess. Bread unintentionally ripped and torn with slices of meat and cheese sticking out from the sides. Globs of buttery mustard dripping out from between the pieces and gathering into pale yellow clumps on the glass plate. Clenching his teeth, he gave her a smile, "Thank you, my dear, it looks...The bloody hell are you doing?!" His voice sparked as he sat back in the seat. Startled by the sudden sawing as she hacked the large butcher through the layers of food. Crumbles flying over the table. Carefully, he placed a firm grip on her wrist with his left hand and reached for the knife's handle with his right. Partly standing up out of the chair now, "Alright, my dear, that is enough- thank you." Wincing again as his muscles in his arms tightened, he took the knife from her and sat it gently on the table before nodding over towards Kage. "Why not get your guest something to eat as well, my dear? I need to clean this wound..."

For a moment Kage's eyes

For a moment Kage's eyes wandered to follow Migisi as she made her way back towards the counter, a small smile on his face as he watched her fumble around with the simple process of making a sandwich. Yes, from observing her more closely now it was becoming more and more clear to him that she was...different. Not in a bad way, certainly, but in a very good way. She was different in the sense that she was not human, or did not appear to be at least. He should have guessed from the very start, just from her mannerisms and the unusual shine to her eyes alone. And then there was her aura, which bore an unmistakable, inhuman warmth...some kind of primal familiarity. Migisi was not a demon, nor was she a supernatural creature. So what was she? Of course, he wouldn't ask such a thing out loud, and so his pondering thoughts were kept to his lonesome. For now, at least.

Cypher's voice put Kage's attention back on the man, a brow cocking at the half-hearted response. He knew that the man was lying; it was plain on his face that he did indeed care for the stuffed animal very much. This was not a point of mockery for Kage at all, but rather sympathy. He very much understood the need to become attached to an inanimate object, to give it a life of its own. He understood that at times it seemed as if these speechless, emotionless objects cared and listened more than living, thinking beings. Kage's eyes lowered to the table as Cypher bounced his leg, the nervous rhythm coupled with the tapping of his fingers beginning to make the daemon himself a little anxious. There was something else, though. Something...very familiar. Was that...musk?

Looking up. Kage caught the lustful look that Cypher was projecting towards the young woman, and his lip curled slightly. What a shameless man, oggling over her while she made him something to eat. It was practically offensive to him...though he could not stop himself from looking over to her as well. His gaze just as quickly returned back to the opposite wall however, biting at the inside of his cheeks as he willed for them to not get flushed again. The lusty scent that Cypher was giving off was not helping, and Kage cursed his sensitive olfactories. Gods, this evening...

Cautiously, Kage glanced over once more when Migisi returned to the table, and then jumped back in his seat when she suddenly started to hack away at the sandwich. His dark eyes were wide, though once he overcame his initial surprise he began to chuckle. It was a most amusing sight, indeed. It seemed that there was much that she still needed to learn while being in a human body. When Cypher nodded toward Kage and suggested that she make him something as well, the daemon blinked in surprise, his gaze momentarily locking with the other man's. Did he...really just hear that? Was that kindness in the rude man's voice?

Kage discreetly coughed into his fist and bent over slightly as his stomach gurgled again, hoping that he was able to block out the noise. "You don't have to, dear," he said with some uncertainty, smiling up at her. "I don't want to be a bother." What was the point of saying all that, anyway? It's not like she could understand him. Although, even if she didn't understand his words, she'd understand his stomach's noisy demands. Sighing, he looked over at Cypher again, frowning at the sight of the wound. Perhaps he should risk another offer to help. "If you would allow me...I have knowledge of dressing wounds. I think that you have been through enough tonight, and so I am still willing to help you." His eyes searched Cypher's own if they were to meet. "My name is Kage, by the way. I am sorry that we had to have met under the most usual circumstances."

Migisi jumped at the

Migisi jumped at the brunette's sudden exclamation. She knew better, really. 'Knives are sharp' was one of those basic lessons she'd learned pretty early on, even before becoming a human. Cypher had then reiterated the idea into her during their little 'cooking lessons'. Perhaps she'd just gotten a little...over excited? Luckily for everyone the blade was dull; one of the reasons she was making such a mess, no doubt.

Yet the man made a mistake reaching out to grab her arm after already startling her. The sudden grip made her tense up, her hold on the cutlery tightening. It was a good thing Cypher was being fast because in another second she might have instinctively begun to flail her arms to be rid of him. She no longer had wings to fly away, but had yet to kick the habit of trying to every once in a while. And if there was one thing she hated, it was being grabbed like that. Yet as the muscles in her arm tensed to lash out, the knife was pried from her grip and gently sat on the table. The hold on her arm relaxed, and just that fast, she was over it.

Her expression went blank as her eyes lingered on the confiscated knife before she shrugged away from the table. Her gaze then darted between Cypher and the sandwich as she waited for the man's attention to return to it. It didn't. Instead he ignored the offering, turning from the table, his attention on Kage though...he might have been addressing her. The silver-haired man smiled at her. Called her 'dear'. A dark brow arched above a critical eye as she looked him over, then back to Cypher, then back to him again. Why were her efforts not being appreciated!? When the brunette finally made a 'bold' move toward the living room she grabbed his sleeve once more, irritation in her eyes as she pointed back toward the table as if to say Eat!

His eyes snapped to Kage's

His eyes snapped to Kage's face. Words igniting a new flame within them- jealousy, causing them to narrow as he shifted uneasily on his numbing legs. Placing himself between the man and woman; clenching his right hand into a fist, tightening the muscle. Wincing at the sharp pain the shot up through his arm, he grinned his teeth while rolling up the tattered sleeve. Being careful that the folded material did not put too much pressure on the exposed wound as he rolled it partly between his elbow and shoulder blade. Blazing blues still fixed on the opposing man with a faint snarl.

'Dear', he called her 'dear'. It struck a nerve in the man, full of hypocrisy as he frowned. It was a common habit of gentlemen to address women in such a fashion, often attempts charm them with polite praise. He had done it countless times. Both intentionally and unintentionally; manners beaten into him made him unable to speak to another without some sort of proper title while addressing them. Though it seemed different to hear another speak in the same fashion he did towards Migisi. Cypher had always referred to her as 'dear, even as a jackdaw, but since she had become human, the connection between the pet name had begun to grow more personal. More with more of an intimate meaning.

Kage's attention was now on him. Glancing down at the wound before meeting the man's inflamed glare. "As do I, sir," he spatted while placing his left hand to his right elbow, supporting his injured arm while he pulled it away back towards his chest. "Smith. John Smith," he lied through his teeth, feeling the unsettling disconnection between his name and himself as he gave his second alias. Despite how strange a name like 'Kage' was, he was trained to avoid using his asylum name - Cypher - in casual conversation. Quickly learning about the tension the awkwardness of the conversation created when he was reintroduced to the world by Dr. Heung. Curling his lips inward while attempted to circle around Kage to make his way to the doorway. "And yes, tis a shame our meeting is based on the foundation that you pootled your way into our home." Sarcasm still stuck to his words while he nodded back towards Migisi, taking a step towards the door.

A force pulled him back. He stumbled backward with surprised, wide eyes while he glanced back at the source. Pudgy, short fingers were embedded into the cotton fabric that clung tightly to him like materialized flesh. Following the hand attached to the fingers and then following the arm attached to the hand, eyes locking with Migisi's burning blue-gray eyes. Her lips puffed with a huff while she pointed him to the table with a stomp.

"Alright! Alright!" his expression softening slightly but still stern with annoyance while he returned back towards the table. Seating himself while reaching down and placing his long fingers around the soft, deformed sandwich. Lifting it to his lips, he bit into it. Naturally, it tasted fine. For the most part. The 'ingredients' were nothing more than precooked lunch meat, already baked bread, and preserved condiments. It was difficult to mess up the flavor of food that had already been prepared. Though the textures were off. The mustard not spread as smoothly as it could have been, gathered into a glop that soaked into the bread, giving it a strong bitter taste. A raspy cough followed as he forced the food down his throat, "Delicious, darling."

The woman released him,

The woman released him, huffing softly. The tension the two men were creating between them was getting to her...well, that, and she had plenty reason to be annoyed. Cypher was just going to leave? Always leaving... An uneasiness stirred in her gut at the thought of it, even as she watched him give in with annoyed exclamation and seat himself once more at the table. This time she felt little victory in the matter, staring down at him with a critical eye as he drug the plate to the spot in front of him and lifted the sandwich to his mouth.

Bite. Chew.

She waited, wrapping her arms around her; idly running her fingers over the silky fabric of the shirt she wore. When he finally swallowed and spoke, the corner of her mouth lifted in appreciation, recognizing both words he used. Stepping towards him, she lifted a hand to his messy hair and ran her fingers over it once more, letting her fingers linger in her hair a moment before he pulled away and turned on her heel. A slightly larger smile was flashed Kage's way before she retreated back into the kitchen, turning her back on the both of them once more. After pausing a moment to glance over her mess and take inventory of her remaining ingredients she reached for more bread to make her guest and herself matching delicacies.

The tension between the

The tension between the daemon and the human was becoming almost too much to bear. Kage could practically feel Cypher's disdain for him branding his skin. The subtle jealous reaction that Cypher produced from Kage's formal utterance of the word 'dear' slipped past him unnoticed, but the returning venom in the brunette's voice did not. He was beginning to dislike Cypher more and more, and wondered as to why on earth Migisi would want to be with someone like him. No...he mustn't judge. The two were still on shaky ground, but Cypher was treating him as is he were an adversary, which did nothing to help his nerves in the least.

Instinctively, Kage's eyes shifted away as Cypher spat, though he did not cringe. He was to expect intense rudeness from this man now, no matter what Kage would do to appease his mind. "John Smith...a most common name. A safe name," Kage replied softly, his gaze returning to Cypher's own. There was a knowing look in the daemon's eyes, for indeed he was familiar with living a double life. "You do not seem to like the way it rolls off your tongue. John is a fine name...strong. It is one to be proud of," he continued, leaning back slightly in his chair as he studied the other man's face.

As Cypher stood, Kage's eyes followed him, more curious than anything. The biting sarcasm was, as usual, completely expected, though the daemon still felt very annoyed by Cyper's continuous accusations. He was invited in, and after he made sure that Migisi was safe and warm. So much for committing a good deed when he was to be met with bitterness and disdain. But he didn't do this for Cypher, no: he did this for Migisi. All that mattered to him right now was that she was comfortable and happy, and secure. Whatever Cypher thought of him be damned. At least Migisi was grateful for his help, that was clear. That was all the reassurance he needed.

A soft chuckle rumbled in Kage's chest when Migisi pulled Cypher back to the table and practically forced him to eat. She was so fussy and demanding, and wished to get her way. She was almost like...a bird? Kage blinked at this internal revelation, and he began to piece together the connections. Yes, it did make sense, and he had known of beings who would transition between animal and human forms. How interesting. A small smile graced his thin lips as he recalled how bright her eyes were, shining as a feisty bird's would.

His gaze lifted to see her run her fingers through Cypher's hair, and he discreetly looked away again with a small sigh. He remembered that touch, how innocent it was. It had been a long time since someone had touched his hair like that. But he was not jealous, no. Not really. Rather, a feeling of longing spread through him, an empty space wanting to be filled. Well...such was life. He would reach for something, someone only to find that it is unobtainable. Just out of reach.

And then, he saw her smile. Instantly his eyes lightened up, and he lifted his head slightly as he looked up at her. That smile just lit up her whole face, and he returned it just as warmly. It felt strange to smile sometimes, but here it came naturally to him. Briefly his eyes followed her, forgetting for a moment that Cypher was beside him. As she began to prepare a couple more sandwiches he faced the other man again, exhaling slowly and leaning towards the brunette slightly.

"I know that we have started off on the wrong foot here, and I can understand why you are angry. But I assure you that I am not your enemy, and never wish to be. All I wanted to do was to help someone in need, someone who was alone and afraid. I had no intention of causing such a disturbance...I just wanted to do the right thing," he explained slowly, his voice calm and earnest. His dark eyes were soft, searching, perhaps even pleading. Although he believed that he did not owe Cypher yet another explanation, he still wished to be forgiven on some level. If not now, then eventually.
Kumiko's picture

"The bloody hell do you know

"The bloody hell do you know about names?" his words muffled by the mouthful of bread, meat, and cheese. Drying mustard clang to his lips while he chewed, glaring up at the man from the table. Taking slight offense to the lecture about 'his name' when it was not even his name to begin with...Cheeks puffing with bits of food still in his mouth as he eagerly ate. Not realizing how much of an appetite he managed to create from his adventure through the ventilation shaft. Swallowing, he sat the bread down on the plate and drew his hands together. Fingers tangling while he rested his elbows on the table. "Tis just what one goes by and nothing more," he scoffed as he pushed stared directly at Kage.

Eyes rolling with the shake of his head as Migisi ruffled his hair. A pathetic feeling of defeat washing over him as the girl seemed to 'pet' him. Behind him, he could hear her start to fumble with the jars again. Assuming she was making herself or Kage something to eat. Listening intently to Kage as he spoke and smirking. Migs afraid? Oh how cute... Clearly the man knew nothing about the jackdaw-turned-human. She might have been clumsy and might have been ignorant to most of the world, but one thing she was not was a fearful being. Sure, things startled her but she was not one willing give into fear without a fight. Often fighting beside him in the past and urge to do so now...Growing upset with him as he denied her the chance, wanting only to protect her.

"The deed has been done, sir. You got your 'thanks'," he pressed his lips tightly together to stop his sentence. Fighting back the urge to spit out more. Instead, he pushed himself away from the table. Picking the emptied plate up and wandering towards the sink. He stared blankly at the faucet while setting the plate down. Eyes widening while he reached forward and turned it on, scrubbing the plate viciously in order to clean it as quickly as possible. Using the task as a distraction from the tension.
Shiori's picture

She was doing a little

She was doing a little better, this time around. The repetitive nature of her task alone boosted her confidence, but Cypher's 'satisfaction' with her work was another reason for steadier hands. Having been sitting out in room temperature for a few minutes now, the butter spread more smoothly over the bread. She took her time arranging the meat, keeping it more within the boundaries of the sandwich than before. Watchful glances were continuously thrown over her shoulder, her ears 'pricked' toward the terse conversation that continued to happen in the dining room.

Cypher wasn't pleased.

Migisi wasn't too ignorant to figure this out. She could hear it in his tone; the rigid way he sat. The shallow side of her mind simply made sure he was eating the meal he prepared her – and he was! ...Quite enthusiastically now, in fact – yet her damn human brain was making it more complicated than that. A soft frown appeared upon her lips, betraying her inner-most thoughts. The woman turned away; continued working, but her mind kept wandering back to a nagging feeling she couldn't place. It felt heavy in the pit of her stomach. Almost made her forget her hunger.

The clanging of a plate against the surface of the sink startled her. Somehow she had managed to get lost in thought, her hands frozen and hovering over her work as she glared into the kitchen wall. Blinking past her heavy trance she turned and stared at Cypher with a sort of wide-eyed curiosity. Somehow he had appeared beside her...but his attention wasn't on her. The sound of rushing water barely phased the woman. Even after living with the brunette for song long it still took her a moment to pin-point the source of his anxiety as he thrust the plate beneath the stream. By the time it clicked, he was already finished, swiftly putting an end to his fears with a sharp twist of the valve. Watching as he dried the plate and slid it back into the cupboard, she offered a small smile. She barely thought as she reached out then, placing a hand on his arm. Gently, this time, not grabbing him, simply giving him a small squeeze to get his attention as her eyes lifted to meet his, then shifted to the injury on his arm. He should tend to that now, her gaze spoke to him, though no longer in the forceful method she had assaulted him with all evening. Turning back again, she continued on with her task, setting the top piece of bread on her second sandwich, plating it, and walking it to the dining room table to set it before Kage.

(Gahhh, so sorry for the massive delay! All of the holiday stuff just made me forget...fff. Reviving this blog like a boss!)

A wry smile crossed the daemon's lips at the question and the sight of the man's cheeks puffing out from biting into the sandwich. "I suppose you are right. There should be no questioning someone's name. My apologies," he replied sincerely, though still amused by the display before him. Sharp ears twitched to the sound of kitchenware being fumbled, and his smile went from stiff to warm. The girl was clumsy, yes, but in an endearing sort of way. Kage found himself growing more and more intrigued by her, simply for the fact that he wished to know what she was, or what she used to be. He already had his suspicions, and he was beginning to believe that he may in fact be correct.

Venom-laced words stabbed at Kage's ears as Cypher spat, and although his eyes narrowed as they met the man's they did not present a challenge. He gazed at Cypher silently for a moment, the daemon's expression more tired than angry, before looking away once more as the man pushed away from the table. With his attention focused on the opposite wall, his eyes lazily tracing the pattern that was printed upon it, he did not notice how hastily Cypher washed his dish.

It was incredible how noticeable the absence of tension was now that the man had moved away. Slowly the daemon let out his breath, sinking in his seat a little, his head feeling rather foggy. If Migisi had not wished for him to stay then he would have already taken his leave. He had never felt this uncomfortable in quite a while, but with her nearby it gave him confidence. Although, he was now beginning to believe, and accept, that there was no way he would ever gain Cypher's trust...if they were to ever meet again in the future, that is.

The shape of an arm moving into his peripheral line of vision snapped Kage out of his thoughts, and he looked up to see Migisi standing beside him. And...giving him a sandwich? He looked at it as she placed the plate before him, and he chuckled softly. The simple act of kindness warmed his heart, and he looked back up at her again with a wide smile. "Thank you, dear," the daemon said softly with a slight bow of his head. "It looks lovely," he added, quite earnestly as he had been living off of meager food as of late. Despite its haphazard display, it did look rather appetizing.

With that he took a big bite, his jaws seeming to open slightly wider than that of a human. He never really though much of it; after all, he was very rarely ever in the company of others while he ate. The tastes that assaulted his senses were surprisingly pleasing, but then again anything would taste good to him at this point. A strange, small humming noise formed in his throat as he savored his mouthful, and when he finally swallowed he grinned up at her with a distinct shine to his eyes. "I was right: it is delicious!" the daemon confirmed enthusiastically. Reaching over, he placed a large hand over Migisi's own, giving it a gentle and friendly squeeze before withdrawing it, his smile radiating all of his thanks. For a moment, he completely forgot that Cypher was still in the room; so enamored was he by a simple sandwich.

(So...I kind of forgot about

(So...I kind of forgot about this... Sorry.)

The sink gargled as the water rushed down the drain. The all-too-familiar noise tormented him as he placed his hands on the counter, slouching over the surface as he tried to gather himself. Even though the ordeal only lasted a few seconds, it still managed to make him feel slightly sick. As his dazed eyes stared downward at the polished surface, he felt a gentle touch on his arm. He flinched at the unexpected pressure; his vision snapped instantly towards the source. Short, semi-pudgy fingers wrapped around the fabric. Their blue eyes locked before Migisi's glanced towards the exposed wound, then back at him. Her actions were vague at first. It took him a moment to catch onto what she was trying to tell him: care for yourself. He nodded in agreement as he watched her walk away, retreating to the table to give Kage his dinner and feast on her's.

He turned to exit the room. Running his finger around the wound as he examined the depth of the gash, but Cypher kept his attention split between himself and the pair at the table. He still felt uncomfortable with the idea of leaving Migisi alone with their 'guest', but their medical supplies were in the bathroom down the hall. His upper lip curled as he shook his head, listening to Kage's sweet praises. Stomach turning in discomfort as his heart raced. Running his hand through his scruffy, greasy hair, he let out a sigh trying to figure out the source of the rushing emotions flowing through him. Why was he so bothered by it all...?

That is when he saw it from the corner of his eye as he staggered pass them towards the doorway. The simple - yet tender - movement of Kage's hand crossing the table and taking Migisi's in his, holding on. Something within him snapped; he felt a surge of rage explode as his hands were clenched in fists. But why? It was not like the man was being aggressive towards her. He wasn't striking her or forcing himself upon her; it was nothing more than an innocent grasp of hands like two children, but yet, it nagged at him. Instantly, he spun around as adrenaline ran through him. Despite his desire to strike the man, he hit the wall instead. Slamming his arm against the frame of the doorway and leaning against the wall. His fingers anxiously tapping on the dry wall while his left hand rested on his pointed hip. Burning glare fixed directly on Kage.

"Well then...." he spoke through clenched teeth. Heart pounding even faster as the anger burned in him. Neither of them truly did anything wrong but yet, he was enraged by the scene; jealousy was slowly getting the best of him. "Isn't this just sweet?," he sarcastically snarled; aggravation speeding up his speech. "Why not kick off your shoes and stay awhile, eh? Chat her up a bit? Kettle is in the cupboard; why not boil some tea while you are at it?!"

Giving the wall another vicious slap, Cypher swiveled on the balls of his feet turning his back to them. He began to storm through the living room with a cold stern expression. Furiously fumbling with the buttons of his vest and yanking it off from around his slender frame and tossing it onto the couch without care. He turned around the corner towards the bathroom. Quickly, he reached his arm up to flip the light switch on but stopped in his tracks as he realized the light was already on.

He blinked in confusion as he stumbled backward, completely forgetting that someone had been in there when he first returned home. Cautiously, he stepped inside examining the madness that had occurred while he was away. Water was splashed all over the toilet seat with the plunge resting beside it. The roll of toilet paper hung unraveled; a pile of the paper had gathered on the floor from where the roll unrolled. Soap was caked onto the counter. Their toothbrushes and a variety of hygiene products scattered the floor with a hand towel bunched in the sink; it would have appeared that Migisi quickly tried to dry her hands before throwing the towel aside, knocking everything from the counter to the ground.

Sighing, Cypher pinched the bridge of his nose. "Goddamn it..." he stumbled into the room and began to search for their first aid kit, groaning as a sickening feeling rose within him. Thinking about the couple he left alone just down the hall.
