Okay so, I have this issue where my game only succeeds around 5-10 fps online, a fps that I've never had before on this laptop. This started around a week and a half ago, when I returned from another state using different WiFi, (even then this never happened.) Even during the Rut, when there was almost 90 people online, this never happened to me either, my fps usually stayed around 12-16.
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 17R, with an Intel Core i5 processor, and it's very new, (I bought it in late June.) I downloaded MZ Game Accelerator, hoping that would help my frame rate, and it returned it to normal, but only for a few hours. Sometimes, it goes up around 10-11 fps, but then it suddenly decreases to 5-7. I'm almost positive it's not Velocity (because currently he's not connected,) but I could be wrong. This issue is really starting to frustrate me, and if anyone has any tips or solutions to the problem, it'd gladly be appreciated.
Should I Uninstall, and then Reinstall Tef? Or are there other solutions, so I don't have to install it again?
Like I said, any possible help is appreciated! :>.
Edit: Also forgot to mention I'm using Windows 8.1, since I'm afraid Tef will be even slower on Windows 10.
Trackin, I feel the struggle
I use Windows 10 on my pc and
Is the fps drop consistent throughout play or does it spike? Is your laptop getting particularly hot? My old laptop's TEF performance dropped whenever the graphics card got too hot.
I don't think changing wifi would affect it but in general the number of players online can also alter performance. Have you tried all the standard things such as lowering detail, shadows, etc?
Edit: Are you keeping your laptop unplugged while playing and does plugging it in make any difference? Power-saving battery modes will affect your game.
In addition, check your virus detection software. Run some scans. What anti-spyware are you using?
I had some chronic lag the
I think it might be that the TEF server needs a reset. Not sure when the last one was.
@LostintheEcho: Nope, in my
@Verdalas: Ah okay, going to consider downloading it then.
It spikes very low suddenly, and then is continuous before it goes back up for a short/momentary period. Not really, that usually happens to me when I have multiple apps running in the background, and/or multiple tabs open.
Alright, and yes, I have; it seems to increase my fps, but for only a few moments before it's a continuous low.
I haven't noticed, or attmepted to try, I will when I'm home. But usually I have it plugged in all the time.
I currently have McAfee AntiVirus Plus, I'll do some scans when I get home also.
@Draak: I could write to M&A requesting for a server restart, or someone else could. Not sure if that's the exact problem though.
I have had bad experiences
@Mozdog: I haven't had a
@Mozdog: I haven't had a problem at all with McAfee, even on my old laptop. It's just Tef really, all my other games work fine, and so does the rest of my laptop. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Currently, my fps is, which is strange because just a few minutes ago, it was only at 7. Also, my laptop's fan is running a little harder too.
Im getting about that right
@Mozdog: I suppose, lots of
Also, just now, for a few seconds it jumped to 15 fps, and then it lowered back down to 5. No idea what changed there.
McAfee has been reported to
Make sure your laptop is well-ventilated and there's no dust clogging up any of the vents. Is your laptop using a dedicated graphics card alongside a standard one? If so, try switching between the two.
Oh, wow, going to have to
I usually keep my laptop vent clean, so my whole laptop doesn't become overheated, but I'll clean them once again. Sadly no, it's just an Intel HD Graphics 4400 (I think.)
That's a decent GPU, sadly
Augh, darn it. Perhaps that's
I'm pretty sure integrated
Most laptops with integrated GPUs cannot have a dedicated card, its also a pain to open up laptops in the first place! xD Dedicated cards are often found in desktops, since desktops are completly designed differently than a laptop they are easier to upgrade like the CPU, RAM, GPU, ect. I'm not sure what model laptop you have but most of the time you won't be able to upgrade the CPU and GPU in a laptop, since its very hard to find new hardware that will work for the device.
So for now we will have to deal with it, and hope TEF will no longer lag someday!
No, integrated cards cannot
All I can suggest is that you try to minimize any processes in the background via task manager and perhaps try playing TEF at a lower resolution.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Thank you for the help both
I'll find a way to manage :}.
