Not much is known in regards to Kenzu's history to many other deer. But to him, it is of course, a non-pleasant beginning to his life. As with many stories we encounter, there is either happiness, or sadness that drives the concept. For Kenzu's case, it is sadness, with loss, hardship, and the power to overcome even the heaviest of pain.
The Forest was of course, his home, and birthright, born among normal and natural other red-deer. There were no unusual oddities, or things out of place, and the nature was peace, and serene, with much content in it's wake. Kenzu's mother and father held much love, and strong devotion in their son, and desired him to become strong, and proud, to take over his father's honour as a sturdy stag, able to stand his ground if needed; mainly, they wanted to look out for him, wanting nothing more than for his future to be happy, and for him to settle down on his own, to carry on with the family bloodline.
Some humans are merciless, enjoying the pleasure of the hunt, and the thrill of the gunshot. It signifies that they are man, and thus, rule these lands. But, no matter how often their foot would tread on soil, the earth, would never be claimed. It is natures, and natures it will stay.
With light hoof, and pleasant thoughts, Kenzu, and his beloved parents, were doing nothing more than enjoying life's pleasantries, and lulling in their good health. But from then on, they knew no more. With two clean shots, and little remorse, his parents were gunned down without a second thought, nor, a moment to lose. Poor Kenzu, of course, it having within split seconds of their pleasant day, all shut down within a blink of an eye. His parents, sadly, perished by the hand of man, but he did not. He, escaped. By fate? Who knew?
It is no place for a young buck to venture alone. To hide in, knowing you are without protection from those you hold so close. So, to leave the pain, the torture, the revenge, all behind. Kenzu ... held his father's strength, bravery, honour, and dignity, and moved on. Seeking comfort elsewhere, to hopefully prove his parent's proud of his ways. Kenzu seeks friendship, kindness, protection, reassurance, all in one place, and that one place, he knows, to never leave. The Endless Forest
