I think you did a really great job with it, the idea of building up an image made of paper like that is just awesome. <3 And I love that tail. So much.
The only thing I think could be changed is the background colour. It isn't the most appealing, but it doesn't take away from it that much, and your eye is more drawn to the art anyways (which is fantastic), but it would look cool with a colour that fits in with the palette you've chosen for your character, or a more detailed background? But I know that would be difficult, because you'd have to build it up behind your character.
Besides that, I think you've done an awesome job. I'm curious to see more of your art.
