Fulu awoke, letting out a painful cry. She poked Zilant awake, who looked to her drowsily.

"What is it?..."

"It's coming..." She grunted.

"What?"

"It's coming!"

"It's..." Zilant stared for a moment, then smiled, "It's coming!" He looked around frantically, "What do I do?"

"Get Skokey! Get everyone, hurry!" She yelled a little angrily at him, ducking her head down and curling up a little.

Zilant hopped up, "Yeah... Yeah! Okay, don't worry, I'll be right back!" He bolted away into the misty morning.

Skokey slept peacefully beside his family, ears twitching slightly at some dew dripping off the edge of the slab. He furrowed his brow and opened his eyes unamused at the sound of hoofbeats. He rose his head, ready to yell at whoever it was for disturbing him so early in the morning. He blinked incredulously when he saw it was Zilant.

"Uhh, Zilant... It's a little early, you know."

The blue and white stag panted, "I... It's Fulu... She's in... labor..."

"What?" Skokey shouted, jumping up happily. He nudged his mate hurriedly, "Fenqua, Fenqua get up!"

Fenqua growled slightly, "Not now, Skokey, it's too early..."

"No, now! Fulu's having her baby!"

Fenqua gasped before lifting her head. "We gotta go!"

"I'll wake up the twins, you go help Fulu, okay?"

"Yeah, gotcha." She kissed him on the cheek before racing off with Zilant.

Zilant tried his best to keep up with her. Fenqua was undoubtedly faster than him, but she was the one ugring him to hurry. They sped through the Birch Forest, quickly transitioning to the First Forest. They made their way down the stream of the Crying Idol, around the pond until they came to the steep hill where their willow tree home stood.

Fulu cried miserably, beating her head down on the ground softly and searching desperately for that familiar blue and white pelt. She sighed as best she could upon seeing Zilant come with Fenqua. Oh good, she knows what to do... She thought.

Fenqua sat next to her, "You doing okay, Fulu?"

"I dunno..." She moved her head to see Fenqua better. "I'm not sure what 'doing okay' is in this situation..."

Fenqua smiled, "Don't worry, it all comes naturally, there's not much help needed, really. Something inside you will tell you what to do."

Fulu nodded, sobbing a little before answering, "Okay..."

Zilant sat on the other side of her, "Please don't cry, Fulu, it can't be that bad..."

Fulu smiled, "That's not why I'm crying... And it is that bad, believe me..."

Skokey showed up with two sleepy fawns, complaining at their father for waking them up so early. He hushed them, and stepped into the scene.

Zilant looked at Skokey, "Are you sure they should be here?"

Skokey chuckled, "You're never too young to see the beginning of life."

They all saw a few deer gathering around. Fenqua raised an eyebrow and smiled, "You brought friends."

"Of course I did! They should see this two, not just family."

Vessel and Xylia came up on one side, Xylia smiling softly and Vessel watching curiously. He had seen this before, but it seemed to get better every time. Meanwhile, Aspen, Magnet, and their twins came to the willow. Aspen smiled under her skull, nuzzling Magnet and her fawns gently. Taliene watched from afar, smiling at her friend's achievment. Others came, too many to count now, some of them didn't even know Fulu, or anyone else in the family.

Fulu cried out a little more, it seemed to be getting worse. Fenqua sat beside her, giving her bits of advice every so often. Skokey stood guard, Fenkovan acting like a secret agent and Faytha watching her aunt in curiousity. Zilant sat next to her the whole time, encouraging her and keeping her going.

The young black and white doe screamed, possibly with all her might. Everyone doubled back, but once it was over...

A little fawn lay there beside Fulu. It's coat wet and dull, eyes opening slowly for the first time. Fulu took a moment to catch her breath before lifted her head. Tears rolled down her face as she looked over the little creature. She began to clean it, making observations as she went. It bleated happily at it's mother's touch, letting her clean it without complaint.

The little crowd jumped and laughed around her, celebrating the start of a new life. Xylia leaned her head against Vessel, saying something to him. He let out a faint smirk in responce. Aspen and Magnet nuzzled their two fawns, taken in by the scene. Taliene by then had gotten closer, and started celebrating as best she could with everyone else.

Fenqua lifted herself to her feet and went over to Skokey. She nuzzled him, and noticed tears running down his face as well. Just like when Faytha and Fenkovan were born. He had that proud look on his face again, as if that were his fawn.

"Faytha, Fenkovan, come here..." The twins came up to him, and looked up expectantly. He gestured to the little newborn, now almost completely clean. "Let's go see your new cousin..."

Fulu nuzzled her fawn gently. She smiled at it's little fuzzy pelt. Pale blue on top, with a white belly. The newborn crawled it's way to her stomach, crying for milk. She met it half way, and moved so it wouldn't have to.

Zilant sat next to his mate as the fawn drank it's first meal. "I'm so proud of you, Fulu..."

She leaned her head against him. "It's a girl, Zilant..."

"A girl..."

"She has her father's pelt..." She smiled and kissed him. "Kailani..."

"Yeah... Kailani... The Sea and the Sky..."

"Our little Kailani..."

Faytha and Fenkovan toddled over to the new family. "So that's a cousin?" Faytha asked to anyone willing to answer.

Fulu smiled, "Yes... This is your cousin Kailani."

"Kinda small..." Fenkovan remarked, which was answered with a gesture of discipline by his mother.

"Yeah, but she'll get bigger... Don't you worry." She looked down at her, and smiled.

Kailani let out a big yawn and snuggled up to her mother. She rested her head down and fell right to sleep. It was only noon, but Fulu rested her head next to the fawn and slept as well. She had a rough morning.

Most of the crowd disappeared, except for Aspen, Magnet and their twins, Vessel and Xylia, and Skokey's family. They sat around Fulu, Zilant and Kailani, chatting about and watching the two sets of twins play together.

Kailani... The Sea and the Sky... Your life now awaits you...
