For quad, under the cut. :3
The leaves shone, wet with the frosted-over dew of the last morning mist. The leaves sang quietly, pushing against one another, vying for attention. The male deer made his way quietly through the branches, pondering nothing and everything at once. Perhaps today would be the day he was ready to face the challenge of facing that stag.. but perhaps violence was a poor way to go about it -- he hated fighting, because of his not-so-skinny frame, and the terribly uproarsus noises he could occasionally make, scaring at least two-thirds of the forest. But he had to figure out how to make this young, foolish stag leave him be. Perhaps he should consider talking to him about a prospective friendship, but how would the young stag listen? He continued walking, unaware that the young stag was creeping nearer and nearer to him as he went. A sudden bellow alerted him, and Quad whipped around, ready to back away. The young stag glared at him, a gleam in his blatant brown eyes.
"I meant no harm-" Quad was cut off as the young stag leapt at him, his head totally lowered, showing a head of abnormally huge antlers, all milky white. Quad tried to run, but he tripped over a log and fell, screaming in fear. There was a cloud moving up, toward the sun. The cloud seemed to be furious, distant, and angry. Was it a sign of something? Suddenly, the cloud began forming strange shapes, ones he could not decipher, but were, in reality, music notes. He had to get up, because he could almost see the stag's hoof about to beat down into his chest, crushing him. He clumsily got to his feet, meeting face-to-antlers with the stag, and bellowed a low note that made the stag stop and look right at him, unaccustomed to this low resonating pitch. "I'm telling you, you need to stop. I never meant to intrude on what you were doing, but you're ready to kill to get me out of your way." The words were a lot hum, not quite a song, and not quite words. Blank eyes stared bakc at him. This deer wasn't his species, so of course he had no idea what was going on. Quad changed his tactic.
"Through the meadows,
We sang soft songs,
All mornin' long,
And we couldn't,
Be bothered to notice,
The world flashin' past,
Until those creatures came,
And took it all away,
So we ran deep into the hills,
Saw a magic light,
And always came back since."
The song was over as quickly as it had started, but the stag backed off, ready to notice someone else and try to kill them, or whatever it was that he wanted. Quad slowly began walking again, singing those same lines over and over again, just as the cloud pored rain and the sun still lit up the sky.
That was a great story, and
No problem. :3 Thanks!
Hitting you over the head
You’re bleeding
Boy you want more?
This is so like you I said
Put yourself on back to bed †
