You can see them. They weave though the woods with fluid motion.
Their stark white fur gleams with the last rays of sunlight, betraying
their location whenever they move. They give deep growls that warn
you they will devour you once they catch you, and for moments that
feel like hours you fear they are going to catch you and devour you.
You move faster, till your heart feels like its going to explode and your
legs are almost numb. Closer they get, they yelp with excitement of
the chase. Your life is about to end you fear, and there is nothing you
can do about it. Closing your eyes, you wait for the feeling of them
attacking.
Then it's over. There is no more growling, or yelps. Life is still and
peaceful. Instead of leaving, you stop and curiously turn around.
You see the fierce creatures that had been lusting for your blood
a few moment earlier are stuck behind a simple fence. They are
no longer the beasts that were going to devour you, they are simple
pets that only wanted a good chase. You hear a whistle and the
dogs turn away, happily panting and wagging their tails.
For a long time you stay were you are, even after they are long
gone. Eventually you turn and leave, ready for the next adventure
that you will stumble upon.
