Ack, I know exactly what you mean. I was like "who'sthiswho'sthiswho'sthis?!" the entire time. And then the forest map got wonky and made that whole situation worse. Ah fog, you look cool, but are still quite annoying.
I too know the feeling. It's annoying that you have to run away from someone and listen to find out who they are. (By the way, Sambreel, my deer, is the one with the key-antlers on the left of your deer. He was sleepy.)
