Liam had noticed the strange deer from afar, but as usual his curiosity got the best of him. He approached slowly, giving a small but courteous bow. The dark stag before him seemed nervous...scared, even. He had backed up a little despite being a bit of a distance from the golden buck, and then returned the bow. Liam smiled, feeling relieved that the stag would at least return the friendly gesture. He turned to Herla, and then froze when he saw the uncertainty in her eyes as she gazed at the strange stag. The golden buck was about to reassure her when the other stag began to act strangely.
The dark stag lowered his antlers and shook them, stomping the ground and snorting. Liam began to back up, but suddenly Herla began to approach the agitated deer. Before Liam could call out to her, the other stag began to act aggressively again...this time, toward Herla. Without thinking, Liam rushed between them and snorted a warning. He reared and lowered his antlers, but only in warning; he did not plan on hurting the other stag, just as he would never plan on hurting anyone. It just wasn't in his nature. Right now, he just wanted to keep Herla safe.
Shaking head wouldn't help, warning them wouldn't help... even treatening wouldn't! She... she.... she JUST NUZZLED
And now both of them rushed towards him... panic took over, the sheer panic of beeing.... touched.
He struggled off, kicking biting, hissing to make the two back off again. He did not even want to hurt... he did not even...
No just DON'T TOUCH.
He stumbled over his own hooves as he brought some distance between the two, fell straight forward on his nose. Hasitly he pulled himself up again, turned around instantly and stared over to the two to make sure they won't approach again. His eyes where wide, his tongue hang out on the site of his jaws... the ability to speak... temporarily lost.
The warnings were spoken loud and clear, but Liam refused to back down as a curious fawn began to approach Morsch as well. Making sure that Herla was at a safe distance beside a pine tree, and now in the company of another stag, he stepped between the fawn and the dark stag. He did not want to stir up any more trouble with the obviously distressed deer, but he also did not want a young one to get hurt. Liam eventually coaxed the fawn into moving a safe distance away, and returning to Herla's side he gazed at Morsch from afar.
He is so strange...and yet, I can't help but feel curious about him. What...what is he?, he thought as he watched the dark stag huff and walk agitatedly in circles before finally laying down beside a tree.
Herla was very relieved when Liam came back to sit by her. She had hidden behind a tree when Morsch had lowered his antlers at her. She had only wanted to try and greet him, she felt bad about how she’d overreacted to his previous outburst. After all, he hadn’t actually harmed her in anyway, only frightened her. But she got so frightened again when he acted aggressively towards her, she was still trembling. She nuzzled into Liam who sat down next to her, “Liam, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have pressured him. I only wanted to apologize. I didn’t want a fight. I hope you didn’t get hurt,” , she said trying to control her trembling. Liam was watching Morsch with narrowed eyes. “I think he was just scared though. Why on earth would anything be afraid of me? she asked perplexed.
He could have simply run away to avoid any further unwanted contact, of course. But... his partially rotten brain couldn't come up with a simple plan like this. At least... not in this moment of highest stress...
... so he simly flopped down where he was, trying to sort his thoughts and emotions out.
A kind of... reset... so to say.
A few minutes passed, before he made a slurping noise, as he soaked in his tongue again, which was, till then still hanging at the site of his jaw...
He shook his head rapidly and blinked... it almost seemed like he just woke from some kind of sleep...
The dark pelted stared over to the two sitting in the distance and kept an eye on the fawn as well.
He could focus on the situation again.... he also would be able to speak again...
... but he simply had no idea what to say. So he remained silent.... just watched.
(haha, sorry sight, didn't know you were replying as well... but... seems it fits anyways xD
off to bed... have to work tomorrow... I'll reply tomorrow, g'night)
Liam bit his lip and nuzzled Herla in return, greatly relieved that she was a little shaken up but not hurt. "You have nothing to apologize for Herla, nothing at all. Do not worry, I'm not hurt. I do not believe he wished to attack anyone, but...I was not sure if he would act aggressively. He seemed very interested in you... Have you met before?" he said softly, hoping that he didn't sound like he was prying. He kept a wary eye on Morsch, although he still felt curious about the strange deer. "I was wondering the same thing myself. I cannot imagine anyone or anything being afraid of you. You are much too sweet and dainty," Liam replied with a smile, and gently nuzzled her again. He felt terrible that she was frightened...and yet, strangely, he imagined that Morsch was no more frightened than she was. So strange...
“I’ve met him before, we had a misunderstanding and he frightened me but I don’t think he ever meant to harm me. When I saw him again tonight, I only wanted to apologize to him. But he scared me again. I’m sorry to have dragged you into this Liam, thank you for trying to help.’ she said leaning against her friend.
(Eep, 'night Morsch! I totally missed the part where you said you're going to bed...d'oh! XD; )
Liam tilted his head thoughtfully as Herla explained, and frowned softly. "He...frightened you? I can see now that he reacts strangely to any wrong move. It is strange that he acted that way around you. Stags, I can definitely understand. But small does like yourself? It's puzzling," he said, tipping his ears. He blinked at the apology, and then nuzzled Herla reassuringly, kissing her brow.
"It is alright, Herla; you did not drag me into anything. I am just glad that you are safe and unharmed," Liam replied earnestly, and then blushed and puffed out his chest. "Ah, 'tis nothing m'lady. I am but a big, strong buck after all!" he chuckled.
“Oh Liam, you are big and strong and I am lucky to have you as a friend,” she said and nuzzled his neck, her trembling subsiding. Morsch had retreated and now sat watching them. He really did seem scared, thought Herla. She wanted to make up somehow for whatever it was she had done that had scared him. She got up and took a few tentative steps towards Morsch. “Liam, I’m going to try to talk to him again, I think it will be alright.” She took a few more steps forward, changing her mind on tactic, she approached Morsch at an angle instead, keeping her face partially shielded by her fan and doing her best to look non-threatening. She was pretty good at that. It was her usual tactic for approaching any strange stag. Keeping her face partially averted, she said to Morsch, “Please…I’m sorry. I just wanted to apologize. I didn’t mean to offend you. I promise I won’t try to kiss you again…unless you want me to.” She tried to look as harmless as possible. Again, it came natural.
((I thought maybe Morsch could let Herla approach but maybe something else startles him or whatnot and he bites her. On accident, or on purpose, however you might like to make it happen. Be fun for drama’s sake. But it’s up to you! ))
Liam blushed at the compliment, giving a little nervous cough, and couldn't help but smile as she nuzzled him. "I am lucky to have you as a friend as well. You are one of the more understanding does that I have come to meet, and I am grateful for that," he replied, his gaze following hers as she glanced over at Morsch. When she stood and began to walk toward the strange deer, Liam opened his mouth to protest, but closed it as he listened to what she had to say. He bit his lip nervously, his ears swiveling as they wont to do when he was unsure. "Oh, Herla...I will not stop you, but please, please be careful. He is unpredictable..."
His voice trailed off as she moved closer to Morsch, and although he stood he did not pursue her. No, she wished to handle this on her own...but he would be ready to intervene if necessary. With Nekumbra he had learned not to judge others by how they looked or acted...but Morsch was just a bad vibe. He could not read the other deer, not at all. Who knows how he would react when Herla approached? Swallowing the lump in his throat, the golden buck watched carefully from behind the tree, his muscles tense as he prepared to leap into action.
(uhhm. Yeha... its not that he jumps at every little occasions and bites around...
besites... he is not a 'drama machine' so... no.)
While the two where talking over there, Morsch lost his interest completely on them.
Of course. They where sitting far away enough that they couldn't just touch him without any longer approaching, what he would notice...
Instead a little fly cought his attention now.
The little beast didn't want to leave him... he could turn his head, move his eears, his tail do whatever he wante to get rid of that little insect... it just persistantly fly around his head.
... until the small stag finally had enough.... and ate it.
Not very tasty...
He shuddered.
...then he noticed the movement of Herla... stood up as well, made a few steps backwards to keep the distance up. He shook his head.
"Stop"... he shook his head once more.
"Yoo just stay over there, don't come close and everything is good, right? Right." he nodded and backed off a little more to emphasize his words.
He now... almost needed to scream to talk to them, though.
Herla stopped her approach, when the strange stag ordered her to stay back. She cringed a little, “Oh, okay…I won’t. I won’t come any closer,” she stammered. “I’m sorry I bothered you so.” she said dejectedly, “I won’t bother you again.”
He stared at her.... obviously listening carefully.
... like he always did, when someoen spoke to him, in fear he could miss anything.
Suddenly he nodded.... then he shook his head no.
"Yeha.... noo... I mean..." he stopped, remained silent for a while. He was searching for the right words...
"Yoo don't bother... it's just... touching. I don't like that." he lowered his head, obviously a little bit embarrased about admitting this.
Just to show that he was no coward, though, he made a few steps towards her again, so that the distance between them shrinked again.
Herla kept her distance, even when he took a few steps towards her. He was obviously uncomfortable and she didn’t want to make things worse for him. “I’m sorry.” she said ”I didn’t know. I thought you liked me, so I gave you a kiss.” She said, still feeling the sting of rejection, but she was starting to understand a little better. “I promise, I won’t kiss you again. And if you’d like to sit with me, I won’t try to touch you. Unless you ask me too.” She sat down against a tree and nodded to him.
