Like... I get it, but I don't. Occaisionally, I'm able to connect my game and play in the game, but I just kinda stick to myself. I don't really know how to interact with characters... Is there even such thing as "being the character"? Don't you still kind of dictate what your avatar does?
I don't mean to be offensive. I just kinda really don't understand, but I do like creating character designs and want to make character personalities as well! I need pointers tho. xP
No worries! It's a good
You dictate what the character does, to a point. Basically when you're playing a character, you're playing something or someone that has their own unique set of attributes. Knowing this, you imagine what they would do in a specific situation, and have them act accordingly. So, it's not really you reacting to the situation, but your character, even though you're controlling them with whatever device you're using.
Think of actors/actresses, and how they portray someone other than themselves, even though it's them acting it out; it's the same concept, only with pixelized deer running around a pixelized forest.
Hope this makes sense! <3
Also, you can play OOC (out-of-character) or IC (in-character). OOC allows you to play as yourself. You don't have to think about what your deer is doing, but just do what you see fit.
Thank you for giving me such
I'm in theatre 3-4, so we often have to create characters and portray them on-stage. I can't believe I didn't make a connection between role play character thingies and theatre yet, lol. If only I was better at theatre characters too. x.x Maybe I'm just not the character playing type. xD Thanks again though, I like/appreciate your answer!!
You're welcome! I'm glad it
Acting is a lot of fun, but it takes practice. A new frame of mind needs to be developed for whoever you're playing, so you have a better understanding of who they are as a person and what sort of decisions they'd make. You'll get the hang of it! Like I said, it takes practice, but it soon becomes second nature to you <;
