Fawns can't keep pelts, but if you are a full grown stag you should be able to keep it. Don't log out when you want to exit the game, just press the little 'X' in the bottom right hand corner.
if you really want to be sure, that you wont lose pelts, look for spell saver oder just do it yourself -> go into your tef folder - user data and save the spelldata file somewhere else, so if you ever fall into the pond or just lose your pelt in a different way, you can copy that file and get your pelt back =)
but it only saves the pelts if you do it the way bubbly told before ~
